Just because someone cleans windows for a living doesn’t mean they can’t kick your ass when it counts. Daisy Ridley is ready to set her squeegee aside in favor of whichever weapon gets the job done in Cleaner, an action-packed thriller from director Martin Campbell. Quiver Distribution announced today that it has acquired North American rights to the Anton and Qwerty Films production Cleaner, set in, around, and on the side of one of the UK’s tallest buildings. Quiver will release the film in theaters on February 21, 2025.
Star Wars icon Daisy Ridley stars in Cleaner, based on a story she developed, alongside Clive Owen, who recently led the FX mini-series A Murder at the End of the World. The film takes Ridley and Owen into the dark heart of danger while innocent lives hang in the balance.
Here’s the official synopsis for Cleaner:
“Cleaner is set in present-day London.

"Call it." "We shoot our way out." Lionsgate has unveiled an official trailer for an action movie called Dirty Angels, yet another rescue in Afghanistan thriller. This is the latest movie made by Martin Campbell, best known as the director of GoldenEye, Mask of Zorro, Vertical Limit, Beyond Borders, The Legend of Zorro, Casino Royale, Edge of Darkness, Green Lantern, and many other action movies. Yet it's being dumped on VOD in the middle of December, along with a few theaters for good measure. The movie centers on a group of female soldiers who disguise themselves as medics to rescue a group of teenagers caught between Isis and the forces of the Taliban. What an original story - more jingoistic action. Dirty Angels stars Eva Green, Maria Bakalova, Ruby Rose, Jojo T. Gibbs, Rona-Lee Shimon, Aziz Çapkurt, and Reza Brojerdi. This so wants to be The Expendables but for women...

Oi there, listen up! Amazon Prime Video’s list of new releases for June 2024 includes another season of its biggest, bloodiest hit.
The Boys season 4 premieres its first three episodes on Thursday, June 13. Based on the trailers, The Boys is really leaning into the political side of its social satire with a presidential election underway and Homelander on trial for the small matter of killing a guy last season. The season will continue to air on Thursdays, culminating with the finale on July 18.
Amazon is really leaning into its sports offerings this month as well. Fans will get to watch the New York Yankees, the WNBA, and the Nwsl several times throughout June. That’s in addition to a couple of sports docs: Power of the Dream on June 18 and Federer: Twelve Final Days on June 20.
But if you’re looking for something even more explosive than Homelander and Roger Federer,...

The multiplayer Fps genre is jam-packed with titles like Call of Duty, Apex Legends, and many more. So to provide a breath of fresh air, a brand new tactical shooter from Madfinger Games is here, called Gray Zone Warfare. And after the controversies regarding Escape from Tarkov, this game is hopefully going to be the perfect alternative to that.
The game was released exclusively on Steam on April 30 and has already started garnering acclaim from players. However, there has been a major allegation against the game, which might blow your mind.

Escape from Tarkov, the multiplayer first-person shooter title from Battlestate Games, has been the talk of the town for all the wrong reasons. The developer recently announced its new $250 upgrade called The Unheard Edition, with a brand-new PvE mode that sparked controversy in the community.
Fans have termed the developer selfish and said that it is making the game “pay-to-win” with the new edition. The developer has now released a statement about The Unheard Edition controversy, but instead of helping, it has only made things worse.

When Escape from Tarkov was first released to a select group of players back in 2016, no one knew it would become a cultural phenomenon in the Fps space. Known for its unforgiving and realistic world design, it’s not a title the casual gamer would instantly pick up.

Max’s first full month without ‘HBO’ in its rebranded title has a selection that kicks off summer 2023 in fine fashion. Three of the four iterations of “A Star Is Born,” including the most recent remake starring Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga, are streaming on Max in June. The 1954 and 1976 films land June 1, while the 2018 version arrives June 8.
To prepare for Margot Robbie’s performance in “Barbie” come July, one could watch one of her more intense roles as Tonya Harding in “I, Tonya” (2017). For some lighter summer watches, viewers might consider “Dolphin Tale” (2010), “Grease” (1978), “Hairspray” (2007) or “Tooth Fairy” (2010).
“Magic Mike’s Last Dance” (2023) starring Channing Tatum and Salma Hayek Pinault lands at Max after its theatrical release in February this year. Another major theatrical release from 2022, “Avatar: The Way of Water” (2022), swims onto the streamer starting June 7.

Lionsgate has nabbed global distribution for “Flight Risk,” an action-thriller starring Mark Wahlberg and directed by Mel Gibson. This will mark the first film Gibson has directed since his blockbuster ($175 million on a $40 million budget) and Oscar-nominated “Hacksaw Ridge” in 2016. The mini-major will be launching the project, featuring Wahlberg as a pilot transporting a dangerous criminal for trial, at Cannes.
“We love the undeniable electric pairing of Mel Gibson and Mark Wahlberg,” Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Joe Drake said. “These world-class talents combining for this dynamic, character-driven film will make ‘Flight Risk’ one of the most suspense-filled, must-see events of the year.”
Wahlberg and Gibson have starred in a few projects together, including “Daddy’s Home 2” and last year’s faith-based “Father Stu.” Considering the number of high-concept or true-story action movies Wahlberg has made with director Peter Berg over the last decade, it is a mild surprise that Gibson will be in charge.

“These Facists will never drive Norwegians out of Norway!”
Errol Flynn and Ann Sheridan in Edge Of Darkness (1943) will be available on Blu-ray February 22nd from Warner Archive. It can be purchased at the Warner Archive Amazon Store Here
In 1930, director Lewis Milestone won an Academy Award®* for his eloquent anti-war masterpiece, All Quiet on the Western Front. But with Edge of Darkness, made in 1943 during the dark days of the German blitzkrieg, Milestone displays no such pacifist sentiments. Indeed, this remarkable drama, set in a small Norwegian village, pays tribute to the heroic spirit of common people taking up arms against the Nazi invaders. Errol Flynn delivers a fine, understated performance as a common fisherman who leads the town’s resistance efforts, while Ann Sheridan’s strong character reflects the strength of all womankind. And featured in the superb ensemble cast are Walter Huston, Ruth Gordon, and Judith Anderson.

Lewis Milestone directed this poetic, optimistic ode to the American infantryman, a ‘lone patrol’ saga that emphasizes its soldiers’ hopes and fears. The lineup of fresh, eager acting talent is remarkable: Dana Andrews, Richard Conte, George Tyne, John Ireland, Lloyd Bridges, Sterling Holloway, Norman Lloyd, Herbert Rudley, Richard Benedict, Huntz Hall, James Cardwell, Steve Brodie. Voiceovers and ‘ballads’ give a six-mile beachhead incursion the tone of a spiritual rumination. A beautiful full film restoration brings the image back to prime quality. The controversial filmmakers and the unusual production circumstances are covered in Alan K. Rode’s commentary.

Any WW2 action adventure involving the Norwegian resistance is Ok in my book, and this big-star saga about sabotage efforts to stop the Nazis’ atom research is a natural — much of what happens in the story is true. The show can boast marvelous locations and excellent action scenes but the script and characters aren’t very strong. Did Columbia curb epic director Anthony Mann’s greater ambitions, or did star Kirk Douglas interfere to enhance his leading character into a combo scientist, playboy and sure-shot action man? Also starring Ulla Jacobsson, Richard Harris, Michael Redgrave, and every over-fifty English name actor not nailed down.

The Protégé is the story of three deadly assassins, trained killers for seemingly their entire lives, whose paths cross in unexpected ways. Maggie Q plays Anna, who was rescued as a child by Moody (Samuel L. Jackson) and raised by him to become the world’s most dangerous killer for hire. When her father figure/mentor himself is slaughtered, she goes after those responsible — but has to go through a mysterious man named Rembrandt (Michael Keaton), himself a professional assassin with whom a mutual yet suspicious attraction develops.
The Protégé is directed by Martin Campbell, the New Zealand-born filmmaker best known for two of the biggest James Bond films of all time, 1995’s GoldenEye with Pierce Brosnan and 2006’s Casino Royale with Daniel Craig. Campbell, whose other credits include the groundbreaking 1985 UK series Edge of Darkness, 1998’s The Mask of Zorro, and the 2017 Jackie Chan thriller The Foreigner, knows the...

All due respect to the great Martin Campbell — the now-77-year-old New Zealander whose fine-tuned approach to action filmmaking at the studio level has resulted in “The Mask of Zorro” and two different (yet equally operatic) James Bond reboots that each outclassed their respective sequels — but The same could also be said of a revenge thriller in which Jackie Chan is hellbent on killing Pierce Brosnan, or a massive Green Lantern adaptation in which Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively fall in love before our very eyes while saving the universe from a bulbous-headed Peter Sarsgaard.
Alas, none of Campbell’s previous misfires have promised more or delivered less than the newest film in the director’s career-extending Eastern Europe period, a late summer dud that stars Maggie Q as a sexy assassin, Samuel L. Jackson as her ailing mentor, and Romania as several different parts of Vietnam. In other words,...

"We all have to pay for our sins eventually." Lionsgate & Millennium Media have released the first official trailer for very slick new assassins action movie The Protégé, the latest action movie offering from director Martin Campbell. More action coming this summer! The movie follows Maggie Q as Anna – and Rembrandt – two of the world's premiere assassins who share a mysterious past from Vietnam. They traversed the globe for years competing for high profile contracts. But when Anna's mentor Moody is murdered, she and Rembrandt must form an uneasy alliance and return to Vietnam to track down his killer. Also starring Michael Keaton and Samuel L. Jackson (his second movie this summer as a hitman), with Patrick Malahide and Robert Patrick. This a very been there, done that concept but it still looks like a fun time. Action seems badass, some clever characters, Martin Campbell delivering once ...

What’s director Martin Campbell been up to since revitalizing the Bond franchise in 2006’s “Casino Royale.” Well, arguably just never really living up to that promise. Films like “Edge of Darkness” (2010) and “Green Lantern” (2011) floundered, and “The Foreigner“ (2017) was totally forgotten. Well, the director is still at it with what looks like a no-nonsense assassin thriller about killers who cannot outrun their past sins, “The Protégé.” The movie stars Michael Keaton, Maggie Q, and Samuel L.

Heavy is the head that wears the crown, and in many ways, that would be British producer Suzanne Mackie. As an executive producer on “The Crown,” she has spent the better part of the past 10 years working on the hit Netflix series, taking on her share of controversy along the way. But you’d be hard pressed to find a cooler head: never mind Claire Foy or Olivia Colman, Mackie is the only queen who will see the whole show across its six seasons.
Mackie, who is this year’s recipient of Variety’s Achievement in Intl. TV Award, has shepherded the royal family period piece from the earliest seedling of an idea — pitched when the streaming giant’s eye-watering originals drive was still in its infancy, riding high on “House of Cards” — to the Golden Globe, SAG and Emmy-winning, agenda-setting hit it’s become, both for Netflix and the U.

With Lovecraft Country still providing HBO and HBO Max with its horror content through October, the streamer is looking elsewhere for its spooky season offerings. HBO Max’s new releases for October 2020 feature some truly awesome horror library titles.
Jordan Peele’s Us, John Carpenter’s The Thing, and David Fincher’s Se7en all arrive on Oct. 1. That alone should be enough to last you through spooky season. And if it doesn’t, It: Chapter Two is right there as well. October is also a big month for Batman and Superman with Man of Steel arriving on Oct. 1 along with a whole of animated specials dropping that same day.
In relation to the library titles, this isn’t HBO Max’s strongest month from an original perspective. But there is still plenty to like here. The West Wing election special arrives on Oct. 15. That will be followed by David Byrne...

HBO Max is serving up a lot of great new movies this October. Fittingly for the spooky season, the Warner Bros. streaming service is adding a fair few classic horrors to its library next month, but there’s really something for everyone going up – from comedies to romances to sci-fi to superhero films.

And like most platforms, Amazon Prime is dropping a ton of new movies on day one of July so that you can fill up your list and stay glued to your television. Not every flick releasing today is a winner, but you’re likely to find at least a handful of things you’re going to be dying to see.

As we get deeper into the summer, entertainment offerings are bound to start slimming – particularly in this pandemic era. Perhaps there’s no greater example of the oncoming drought than Amazon Prime’s list of new releases for July 2020.
Though the new options may be few and far between on Amazon this month, at least they pack a bit of a punch. In the case of Hanna season 2, that punch is quite literal. Esme Creed-Miles returns as the titular precocious super soldier. You can check out our review here. Beyond that, there are two intriguing Amazon original movies. The first is the Rosamund Pike-starring Radioactive and that arrives on July 24. Then there is the Dave Bautista film My Spy on July 26.
With HBO Max now on the scene, Amazon Prime is sure to lose some of its library titles. That can already be seen in the relatively sparse offerings for July.

Sylvester Stallone is back in Rambo’s bloodied shoes in the first trailer for Lionsgate’s “Rambo: Last Blood,” the fifth entry in Stallone’s action franchise that first started in 1982. Stallone found great success reviving his beloved “Rocky” franchise in 2015 with Ryan Coogler’s “Creed,” which grossed over $170 million worldwide, spawned a sequel in last year’s “Creed II,” and earned Stallone an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Can Stallone make the same lightning strike again with the “Rambo” franchise? That’s surely the intention.
“Rambo: Last Blood” centers around Stallone’s troubled Vietnam War veteran and former U.S. Army Special Forces Soldier as he tries to pull off one final mission involving a vicious Mexican drug cartel. Joining Stallone for the fifth “Rambo” movie is a supporting cast that includes Adriana Barraza, Paz Vega, Yvette Montreal, and Sergio Peris-Mencheta as the drug cartel leader. The movie will...

Shia Labeouf and Mel Gibson have both signed on to star in the dark satire about New York’s super wealthy called Rothchild. Jon S. Baird (Stan and Ollie) is set to direct. Labeouf and Gibson are both fantastic actors who have each given some epic performances in their day, but have both had some issues surrounding their anger struggles and legal difficulties sounding them. Hopefully they can keep it together and pull out great performances for this movie.
Deadline reports that the film will focus on:
“charismatic outcast Becket Rothchild (Labeouf) plots his way back into his family’s riches, setting himself on a collision course with patriarch Whitelaw Rothchild (Gibson). On the way, he must infiltrate the weird and twisted lives of his super-rich kin including frat boys, hipster artists and reality TV stars.”
This sounds like it will be an over-the-top real life description of the excessive...

Anthony Bourdain watched 30 minutes of “Baby Driver” before he walked out of the movie theater. “It rubbed me the wrong way from the beginning,” he said, looking back on an experience that led him to tweet “Fuck Baby Driver” to his millions of followers. “I felt like right away I knew what was going to happen to everybody in the cast. I just felt it was telegraphed so early and painfully. I had a violent physical reaction. I stumbled out the theater in a pit of depression and fury.”
That’s the thing about Bourdain, who has spent two decades hosting food shows with a unique blend of machismo, travel fever, and cultural inquiry: A television personality who’s a creature of cinema, he devours movies almost as frequently as the cuisines at the center of his show. And in all instances, he’s man of discerning tastes.
