Does any major network do wacky show titles as well as CBS? I don't think so. It's the home of such creatively, chaotically named shows as "Jake and the Fatman," "Gary Unmarried," "Joan of Arcadia," "United States of Al," "Syzyszynk," and -- my personal favorite, name-wise -- "God Friended Me." The network's wacky titles go all the way back to TV's golden age, but their schedule still features several weirdly named shows today. Without giving each of them a watch, it's hard to tell your "Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage" from your "Bob Hearts Abishola," but one unusually named show made its mark recently with a short but loved two-season run: "So Help Me Todd."
The name of "So Help Me Todd" gives few hints about the show's premise, but it was actually about a flailing private detective ("Pitch Perfect...

Lisa Frankenstein, directed by Zelda Williams, offers a modern twist on the classic Frankenstein story with a talented young cast. The film follows Lisa, a high school outcast who revives a Victorian gentleman named Frank, leading to charming misadventures. Despite mixed reviews, Lisa Frankenstein brings a fun and entertaining take on the classic monster movie formula.
Directed by Zelda Williams, the horror comedy Lisa Frankenstein features an exciting cast of young actors. Set in 1989, the film follows the misadventures of Lisa, a high school outcast who has suffered a grave loss and accidentally revives a handsome corpse of a Victorian gentleman. The revived corpse, dubbed Frank, is bewildered by the modern technology and social norms of the late 20th century. To combat the ominous atmosphere of the Ides of March, Netflix has another Lindsay Lohan film, “Irish Wish,” which is now streaming. The follow-up to “Falling for Christmas” in Lohan’s deal with the streamer to make two films, “Irish Wish” focuses on love, luck and a little bit of magic in the rom-com that arrives right before Saint Patrick’s Day.
Lohan portrays a smart book editor, except when it comes to matters of her heart. It takes a wish granted by a mystical woman out in the beautiful Irish countryside to get Maddie to realize that what she hopes and dreams for might not be what she wants or should want in life.

Kathryn Newton, who recently made her Marvel debut in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, has a fallback plan teed up should the SAG-AFTRA strike drag on indefinitely.
The 26-year-old actress is also an accomplished golfer who helped her Notre Dame High School team win three championships. Though she turned down an opportunity to play for USC in favor of buffing an enviable résumé that includes Big Little Lies, Ben Is Back, Blockers and Freaky, Newton returns to the links as often as possible.
With a break in her schedule, she’s set to compete at a series of high-profile tournaments, including the Omega Masters in Switzerland (Aug. 31 to Sept. 3), BMW Wentworth Championship in London (Sept. 12), the Ryder Cup in Rome on behalf of the PGA & European Tour (Sept. 22) and the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland (Oct. 12).

In less than a month, the broadcast networks will be announcing which new series they're picking up for the 2013-14 season. Zap2it can't wait for that, though, so we're doing a series of pilot previews.
In addition to this gallery of 22 shows we hope the networks order to series, we're also going to take a closer look at pilot scripts from each of the networks. While a lot can change between now and a series premiere, and these are by no means full reviews, we hope to offer some insight at some of the projects the networks are considering this spring.
Nick Hornby's terrific 1998 novel, "About a Boy," about a wealthy thirtysomething slacker bonding with a middle school outcast already inspired a well-liked movie starring Hugh Grant and a pre-"X-Men" Nicholas Hoult. Now NBC wants to see if it might work as a weekly TV series too.

You’ve heard, “If you build it, they will come.” Well, if you make ‘em laugh, they will hire you. Case in point, comedian Rob Riggle has been making the rounds in various guest roles and his popularity has just won him the starring role in the new Fox pilot, The Gabriels.
You saw him on the big screen in 21 Jump Street. He’s done recent guest work on New Girl and The Cleveland Show. Now the Fox network has plans to put Riggle to work full-time. THR had the inside scoop of the new comedy pilot, The Gabriels.
The pilot centers around a quiet, “introverted, neurotic Wisconsin family that lives in a community of over-sharers.” Riggle will star as Ken Gabriel, “a childlike man with devilish energy.” I’ve got to say, this premise has me scratching my head. What is an over-sharer? Is that like when a co-worker shares too much information?...

After a too-long seven-month hiatus, Cougar Town returns with original episodes tonight at ten. If the folks at TBS have done their job, you know that these new episodes will be airing on the cable network and not ABC (which decided to kill Cougar to make room for the likes of Malibu Country and The Neighbors). While the show looks the same, there's one big difference behind the scenes: Executive producers and co-creators Bill Lawrence and Kevin Biegel are no longer the mayors of Cougar Town. Ric Swartzlander (Gary Unmarried) has taken over, with the other two guys now working on new projects. To help mark the passing of the wine glass, we asked Lawrence to share some of the advice he gave Swartzlander before moving on. And yes, one of his suggestions involves alcohol.1. Walden’s luck with the ladies is not winning him any gold stars right about now. He had another shot with Zoey, but blew it because Rose and her ferrets had moved in with him. When Walden tried to end their overnight relationship, Rose paid Zoey a visit, claiming to be carrying Walden’s baby. She had the fake belly, too, because what Rose does, she does all out.

Chicago – Following the first “Paranormal Activity” in 2007, which is most profitable film of all time based on return on investment, filmmakers Jason Blum, Oren Peli and Henry Joost have made a killing for Paramount Pictures.
Rating: 2.0/5.0
But with one movie a year since the second one in 2010, these low-budget films with no-name actors are showing fatigue and that they are overstaying their generous welcome with Friday’s release of “Paranormal Activity 4”.
The only novel plot device used in the fourth film is the Xbox Kinect from Microsoft. When turned on and used normally, the Kinect just makes your body the game controller by tracking your movements. But while viewing the room through a night-vision camera in green lighting, you apparently see the countless projection-tracking dots.
Read Adam Fendelman’s full review of “Paranormal Activity 4”.
That’s then used in the film, of course, to pick up paranormal Boogeymen.

Had the news of Cougar Town’s renewal and move to TBS not been released weeks ago, the season finale may have made a few fans worry. After all, the episode certainly had the tone of a series finale.
Jules (Courteney Cox) and Grayson (Josh Hopkins) got married. Ellie (Christa Miller) dangled her sexuality over Andy (Ian Gomez) like an unreachable carrot. And Laurie (Busy Phillips) and Travis (Dan) seemed to accept that they will always remain friends — and nothing more. But while the episode felt like a natural end to the series, co-creator Bill Lawrence says that was never the intention.

Many changes are afoot for "Cougar Town." Not only is the Courteney Cox-fronted show jumping to a new network (TBS), but production will be in the hands of a new showrunner: Ric Swartzlander, reports EW, who previously helmed "Gary Unmarried."
The news comes less than two weeks after "Cougar Town" creators Bill Lawrence and Kevin Biegel stepped down.
"As a producer, I can't wait. This is a fresh start," Cox told Vulture when Biegel and Lawrence left. "It will feel like the same show, but we're going to have a new [showunner], there will be new people, new changes."
Biegel and Lawrence will still be "actively" involved in the show, but Swartzlander will run day-to-day operations. Meanwhile, Lawrence will develop new projects for Warner Brothers TV.
TBS plans to start airing a new 15-episode fourth season in 2013 and holds an option for a fifth season, too.

Cougar Town not only has a new network, it has a new showrunner to match.
Ric Swartzlander (Gary Unmarried) has signed on as an executive producer and will oversee the cul-de-sac comedy in its fourth season — and first on TBS. Lawrence, who’s married to Cougar Town star Christa Miller, assured fans on Twitter last week that he and Biegel weren’t fully letting go of their Big Carls, quipping: “My wife is on the show — you think she’ll let me disappear? Please.” Lawrence will serve as an executive producer and executive consultant on Cougar Town while developing new projects for Warner Bros. TV, with whom he signed a deal last year.
