Disney cruises tend to offer shorter expeditions compared to other cruise lines and, therefore, some of the briefest trips on their fleet do not have space to fit Marvel Day at Sea on the itinerary. The vacation company does make it easy for Marvel fans by designating which of their vacations celebrate Marvel Day at Sea. Anyone familiar with cruising may know that a “sea day” is when the ship does not dock at a port to let guests off at a destination. Disney selects a single sea day as their Marvel Day at Sea. So, what can Avenger enthusiasts look forward to on this Marvel-lous day?

Oscar weekend was a bust at the box office this year.
Overall domestic revenue is estimated to come in between $56 million and $57 million, the lowest by a long shot in at least a decade, according to ComScore. This excludes the year the awards show was delayed to early April because of the pandemic and as theaters were still struggling to come back online. Over Oscar weekend in 2021, combined revenue hit $57.2 million over the April 4-6 frame.
The reason for this year’s drought? A lack of new event product and the much-debatad performance of Marvel’s Captain America: Brave New World. And nearly all of the top Oscar nominees are now available in the home, or long done with their theatrical runs.
Brave New World had no trouble staying atop the chart in its third outing with $15 million for a domestic total of $163.7 million $341.8 million globally. The lingering question — can...

After a strong opening, Marvel Studios' Captain America: Brave New World was hit with a sharp second-week drop, but the movie is holding (relatively) well as it heads into its third weekend in theaters.
Despite mostly negative reviews and a B- CinemaScore (the lowest for any MCU movie so far), the fourth Captain America movie - and first with Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) wielding the shield - has managed to pass $150 million in the U.S., and $300 million worldwide.
Brave New World had a reported production budget of $180M, but this is before marketing costs, and some believe the actual budget would be closer to $300M after extensive reshoots. Even if this is not accurate, the movie may still struggle to make much of a profit by the end of its run.
Even so, this is a positive sign that Marvel may not have an outright flop on its hands.

Captain America: Brave New World marks a significant chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, not only as Sam Wilson’s first solo outing as Captain America but also as a film that revives elements from 2008’s The Incredible Hulk. The movie features the return of Tim Blake Nelson as The Leader and introduces Harrison Ford as President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, who undergoes a dramatic transformation into Red Hulk.
Given these strong connections to Hulk lore, many fans expected to see Bruce Banner himself play a role in the story. However, despite the heavy Hulk-related themes, Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner does not appear in the movie. Director Julius Onah recently addressed why the Green Goliath was left out, explaining that the decision was made to keep the spotlight firmly on Sam Wilson.

There are no bigger cinematic titans than The Avengers. Marvel's group of mighty heroes first assembled on the silver screen back in 2012 and achieved instant box office success, setting the stage for the Marvel Cinematic Universe's ascension to the box office champion that it is now. The heights would only get higher after that.
But The Avengers are also the sum of their parts, for the legendary team is crafted out of some of the most powerful, effective, and iconic superheroes to ever grace the pages of Marvel Comics. We saw that on-screen when the MCU kicked off with standalone films like Iron Man, Captain America: The First Avenger, Thor, and The Incredible Hulk, showing us what just some of those heroes were capable of on their own. Putting them together meant that success was inevitable.

Captain America: Brave New World is now in theaters worldwide and has received a mixed reception from fans and critics alike. There is no denying that recent projects within the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been struggling in quality, and Sam Wilson’s first major outing as the star-spangled man with a plan could have fared better. Constant reshoots and changes compromised the director’s original vision, and what fans received was something else entirely.
Director Julius Onah revealed that certain characters were removed from the final cut. Unfortunately, this became nothing more than a pipe dream and could have been much better than what was included in the final product.
Editor’s NoteMajor spoilers will be discussed beyond this point. Captain America: Brave New World Was Meant to Feature the Illuminati The fourth live-action Captain America film seems to have suffered from many issues. Image Credit: Marvel Studios

In Marvel Rivals, few things bring more joy than watching two heroes work together in perfect harmony. While NetEase’s hero shooter offers plenty of powerful character combinations, one particular duo has been turning heads lately with their creative approach to battlefield control.

Doctor Strange and The Punisher might seem like an odd couple at first glance—one’s a mystical master of the arcane arts, the other’s a gun-toting vigilante with a penchant for excessive firepower. But as one clever player recently demonstrated, sometimes the best partnerships are the ones you least expect.

Captain America: Brave New World doesn't feel like a Marvel movie.
That clearly is the intention, for the film doesn't feature the typical triumphant Marvel Studios opening fanfare. There is a "Marvel" and a "Studios" that flash up on the screen, along with the words Brave New World in a very uninteresting font. What's missing is the name of the title character.
The 35th Marvel Cinematic Universe movie masquerades as a political thriller and, for the most part, it's a convincing performance. The film doesn't feature a triumphant score (except maybe when its most necessary in the final act of the movie) and it doesn't rely on any of the McU's more light-hearted characters. What we have here is a serious movie complete with a compelling central conspiracy plot involving the President of the United States, who is now Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross (now played by Harrison Ford).

Joe Rogan has gotten tangled up in many controversies in the past. Whether for his own opinions, or for his guests. Well, as one of the most influential podcasters of recent times, it is not exactly a surprise that what he puts out in the world tends to get blown out of proportion by the sheer number of his viewers.

Regardless, Rogan has recently sparked another heated debate when he with a bunch of his friends started deconstructing Anthony Mackie’s recent comments about Captain America.
While Mackie’s comments have already been a hot topic among fans, Joe Rogan’s insight into the matter has only seemed to fuel it even more. Interestingly, what caught people’s attention even more was the advice they had for the actor.

Captain America: Brave New World is the latest installment in the MCU, featuring Anthony Mackie in his first standalone film as Captain America. In this movie, he faces The Leader and, ultimately, Red Hulk, as he seeks to prove himself as more than just a worthy successor to Steve Rogers.
Without giving too much away, the film also lays the groundwork for the future of the MCU, particularly in setting up the new Avengers team and the introduction of Adamantium. During a press interview, it was confirmed that this will eventually tie into the Weapon X program and Wolverine.
2024 was a bit thin when it comes to superhero releases, but in 2025 we can expect several of the teams to join the lineup, Marvel’s first family -The Fantastic Four and Thunderbolts.

Spoilers for "Captain America: Brave New World" follow.
Marvel Studios does not set out to court controversy, which makes "Captain America: Brave New World" such a puzzling film. Similar to previous TV series "Falcon & The Winter Soldier," the movie has a framework that seems inevitably political: Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), a Black man, has chosen to be Captain America, but finds himself at odds with his country and President Thaddeus Ross (Harrison Ford).
Then, the movie preemptively retreats from any message, saying we should trust our politicians, no matter how flawed they are, to follow their better angels in the end — an absurd theme for 2025. Compare how '70s "Captain America" comic writer Steve Englehart made then-President Richard Nixon into a super-villain at the height of the Watergate scandal. That took real conviction, the kind you'll never find in a four-quadrant blockbuster.

Captain America: Brave New World is not only the fourth installment in Cap's big screen saga, but it also has the peculiar task of following up on a few loose ends from the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe.
As a result, Sam's first stand-alone adventure acts as a bit of an indirect sequel to The Incredible Hulk while simultaneously following up on the story set up in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. With multiple connections to other projects, the movie has a few interesting easter eggs, references, and cameos for audiences to enjoy. So don't worry if you missed any, because we're about to break them all down!

It began with 2008’s “Iron Man,” a film that introduced the world to Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark with the hint that he could be part of something greater. Over 30 films later, the story of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still being told, albeit with various tributaries and detours that introduce new characters and new worlds that may or may not cross paths one day. Each film in the MCU stands on its own to some degree, but like building blocks, they all connect as part of one interconnected universe. And in that way, watching the Marvel movies in order tells one grand story.

Captain America is one of the most beloved heroes within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and that’s partly because the iconic character is so well cast.
Chris Evans suited up as Steve Rogers for the first time in 2011′s Captain America: The First Avenger. He wielded Cap’s signature shield and led the Avengers for nearly a decade before passing on the mantle in 2019′s Avengers: Endgame.
Now Anthony Mackie has taken over the title of Captain America with his character Sam Wilson, one of Steve’s closest allies. He leads Captain America: Brave New World, which premiered on February 14.
All these years later, Chris is still viewed as an example of Marvel’s consistently spot-on casting decisions. However, we came pretty close to having someone else carry the hero’s iconic shield.

Anthony Mackie once had a very different career in mind before stepping into the Marvel spotlight. Long before Captain America 4 positioned him as one of the smartest Avengers alive, he had his sights set on something completely unrelated to superhero stardom.

Captain America: Brave New World landed $12 million in Thursday previews at the domestic box office as Marvel Studios attempts to reboot the franchise with an entirely new cast — and deliver a solid swing for Marvel Studios.
That puts the year’s first tentpole to open to $90 million-plus over the four-day Valentine’s Day/Presidents Day weekend, one of the top showings ever for the holiday and in line with pre-release tracking. That’s the same weekend the first Deadpool opened, as well as Marvel’s Black Panther and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantamania, which debuted to $120 million over the three-day Presidents Day weekend in 2023 after earning $17.5 million in previews.
For the three days, Brave New World is expected to earn $80 million-plus. It’s preview gross is not too far behind such films as Captain America: Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy and the first Ant Man and the Wasp. (Quantamania did $17.5 million in previews.

Chicago – In the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Iron Man may have started it all, but it was Captain America who provided the beating heart that carried it through and helped broaden it beyond just Tony Stark snark. These days, as Marvel movies have been a little lost at sea, this first Captain America movie since “Civil War” operates as a bit of a back-to-basics reset.
Taking over the shield for Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie’s Captain America is still a little wary of his new role … working for the government and one time adversary, Thaddeus Ross, who is now U.S. President. Captain America: Brave New World Movie Review Out ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
What’s Good: The character work is quite nice and overall, the acting is superb, showing that actors taking these roles seriously really elevates the material.
What’s Bad: The action sequences and the overall CGI quality are subpar and don’t measure up to what the franchise has done before.
Loo Break: Brave New World doesn’t overstay its welcome, but sadly, many of the action sequences feel very TV-like, so it’s no problem if you miss one or two of them.
Watch or Not?: If you are already invested in the franchise.

Captain America, The Falcon and President Thaddeus Ross might look a little different in Captain America: Brave New World due to new faces taking on beloved mantles and roles.
A changing of the guard took place in Marvel’s Falcon and the Winter Soldier with Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) taking up Steve Rogers’ shield and passing the Falcon wings to Joaquin Torres (Danny Ramirez). Harrison Ford took on the role of Ross, whose nickname is “Thunderbolt” after the now-president in the story was portrayed by the late William Hurt.

“Captain America: Brave New World” is the first Marvel movie in six months — but more than that, it’s the first since 2022, the year of “Thor: Love and Thunder” and “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” to build itself around a superhero you’d categorize as Marvel Classic. Those three years define an era when many began to wonder if comic-book-movie culture — or, at least, the thrill of it — was over. Last summer, the massive box-office success of “Deadpool & Wolverine” ($636 million domestic) might seem to have laid that question to rest. Yet with the Marvel Cinematic Universe encompassing 35 films, there is now a daunting repetition built into it. The issue of potential superhero fatigue hovers over a new “Captain America” film far more than it did before.

Captain America: Brave New World delivers a gripping, politically charged thriller that manages to successfully establish Sam Wilson as the new Captain America. While it doesn’t quite reach the heights of The Winter Soldier, the film offers a refreshing and grounded take on the superhero genre, as it artfully balances espionage, character-driven drama, and high-stakes action set pieces.
Picking up after the momentous events of Avengers: Endgame, where Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) passed his iconic shield to Wilson (Anthony Mackie), Brave New World plunges Sam into a complex and politically charged world. With Thaddeus Ross (Harrison Ford), now President of the United States, Sam finds himself embroiled in an international incident that hits close to home. The situation involves his friend and mentor, Isaiah Bradley (Carl Lumbly), a super-soldier who endured decades of imprisonment and brutal experimentation at the hands of the state.

The Captain America movies, starting with 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger, have always been the most consistently political in the Marvel Studios canon, juxtaposing the titular hero’s World War II iconography and earnest patriotism with glimpses behind the curtain of the modern American surveillance state and imperial apparatus. By the same token, they’ve always refrained from fully criticizing these issues as systemic flaws, ultimately seeing immoral or illegal state actions as the handiwork of an individual villain.
The handing off of the Captain America title from a retiring Steve Rogers to the non-genetically enhanced Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), though, offered a chance to approach the hero from a new angle, and at its best, Julius Onah’s Captain America: Brave New World is the most thematically rich of the Cap movies to date. There are some events in life that you don’t see coming, like a left hook from an unexpected source or, say, a multi-billion dollar entertainment empire on the brink of a stumble. For almost two decades, Marvel Studios has dominated pop culture like an unstoppable freight train. But 2025 is the year where it all could go sideways—or soar higher than ever before.

With Captain America: Brave New World hitting theaters soon, I figured now would be as good a time as any to revisit the original Cap trilogy. As we all prepare to see Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson take up the mantle in his first solo feature, one can’t help but ask how well Chris Evans’ time as the First Avenger truly holds up. Have the films aged with grace? Which one is the best of the three? And is it potentially the best trilogy within the MCU? Well, grab your shields and some popcorn and let’s see if we can find out.

After starring alongside Sebastian Stan in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie is taking Captain America back to basics. Scheduled to hit the theatres on February 14, Mackie will grace the silver screen and officially take over Chris Evans’ mantle. But does he miss anything from his previous role as Falcon?

Well, there might be a few things that Anthony Mackie adored about his role as MCU’s Falcon, but surely not his outfit. To be more specific, it’s particularly his partial mask connected to a pair of goggles that bothered the actor way too much. So much so that Mackie literally refused to wear that ever again—not even for Captain America: Brave New World.

Captain America: Brave New World will partly take us back to when the Marvel Cinematic Universe was still at its growing stages. More precisely, to The Incredible Hulk days. Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross at least got some screen time in four more movies, including cameos in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame but then the passing away of William Hurt put Harrison Ford into the character’s shoes, but handling Tim Blake’s Samuel Sterns is what will make a significant difference to the film.
The buildup is missing and all we know is that his brain mutated with Banner’s blood on his open wound the last time we saw him. And he gave that evil smile, so that’s all we have got for now. But know this: Sterns didn’t have grudges against Banner but Ross and Emil Blonsky. So the Leader might be up to something against...

Elton John and Brandi Carlile announced their joint album Who Believes in Angels? this week and shared the title track along with it. Now, they’ve revealed the track’s pinball-themed music video.
Directed by David Lachapelle, the video finds John and Carlile as performers within a “Captain Fantastic”-themed pinball machine in an arcade. A young girl plays pinball as John and Carlile sing side by side, supported by backup dancers (including Tina Turner and Little Richard), neon glows, and a colorful, decked out set. While they’re never interrupted by a giant life-sized pinball flying around the room, it’s just as entertaining to watch Carlile and John swap fierce looks throughout the duet. Watch the video below.

Anthony Mackie has become a legend in the eyes of many. Long before he picked up the shield, his presence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was celebrated, and fans absolutely adored what he signified in the franchise. Considering the inspiration that he has been for many, one cannot help but wonder who inspired him to become the person that he is today.

Come through Elsbeth with the quick draw on old Van Ness. Our favorite Chicago attorney showed everyone that, despite all the pink, you don’t trifle with her.
Judge Milton had better keep his wits about him because he has no idea who he is dealing with. Honestly, I did not think the series would be able to neatly wrap up the Chicago case so quickly and creatively. It really seemed like the case was going to spill over into Season 3.
However, Elsbeth is far from out of the woods. The poor woman can’t seem to break this season. First, the new lieutenant was giving her grief, then the Chicago case, and now she still has that murderous judge gunning for her.
(Michael Parmelee/CBS)
But like the seasoned professional that Miss Tascioni is, she hasn’t let her troubles slow her down from cracking every case that comes her way.

Valentine's Day is almost here. And you know what that means? Captain America: Brave New World is almost upon us! (What did you think I was going to say?)
The upcoming movie is one of the most anticipated of the year, which isn't surprising considering it's a Marvel Studios production, but there is a lot going on with this one. It's the fourth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Captain America movie series, but it's also something of a reboot. Anthony Mackie, who made his MCU debut as Sam Wilson, a.k.a. The Falcon, in 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier takes over the titular mantle, replacing Chris Evans' Steve Rogers as the title hero.
Mackie, who now stars as the seminal Marvel Comics hero, is not shy about opinions. He'll share what he thinks and tell you why. As nerds, we appreciate that in an actor for certain.

When it comes to legendary Hollywood stars, Harrison Ford is known for his no-nonsense attitude, both on and off the screen. Whether he’s cracking a whip as Indiana Jones or piloting the Millennium Falcon as Han Solo, Ford has built a reputation as someone who doesn’t sugarcoat things. So, when the conversation turned to Anthony Mackie’s portrayal of Captain America, Ford had a refreshingly direct response that caught everyone’s attention.

Plenty of Marvel Cinematic Universe fans love Peggy Carter, but arguably just as many would've preferred that Captain America/Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) end up with the other love of his life: Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan). The silver screen versions of Steve and Bucky are childhood friends and about the same age; Bucky has known Steve since before he got juiced with the Super Soldier Serum, and had spent those years protecting him from plenty of ass-kickings. Movie fans might get the sense that Cap looked up to Bucky ... which is the complete opposite of the original comics.
In those, Bucky is several years younger than Steve. He wasn't Captain America's best friend, he was his kid sidekick. They first met at Fort LeHigh, where Bucky (the orphaned son of a soldier) was living. Depending on the telling, he was either directly assigned to Cap's side, or lucked into the...

Chris Evans' return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe might not be a sure thing after all, as the actor has finally responded to widespread reports that he will appear in "Avengers: Doomsday." After a dismal run of middling films and forgettable streaming series, 2024 seemed like it might have been Marvel's last chance to fix the MCU before it was too late. Whether the company succeeded depends on how you felt about the one live-action movie to arrive last year, the box office-obliterating blockbuster "Deadpool & Wolverine," and whether Marvel's promises of big things to come piqued your interest.
One of those big things is, of course, the return of Robert Downey Jr., who, rather than reprising the role of Iron Man, will be playing supervillain Victor Von Doom in "Avengers: Doomsday." Reactions to this news ranged from genuine excitement to fans accusing Marvel Studios of seeming desperate. Regardless, when news...

Captain America Controversy (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Disney’s association with controversies is nothing new. These often stem from accusations of pandering to specific groups or using social issues as marketing tools. However, it’s not every day that one of its stars ignites a firestorm.
Yet, Anthony Mackie, who officially takes on the mantle of Captain America in MCU’s Captain America: Brave New World next month, found himself at the receiving end of reprehension. Mackie commented about the iconic superhero, which seemed to be critiquing America’s values and causing a backlash reminiscent of Rachel Zegler’s divisive remarks on Snow White. Unlike Zegler, though, Mackie was smart enough to clarify his position at the earliest.
The controversy began during an interview where Mackie was asked what Captain America represents. The actor praised the superhero, describing his qualities as “honor, dignity, and integrity” while emphasizing his trustworthiness and reliability.

This time, however, it's Sam Wilson donning the suit of stripes and wielding the shield, carrying on the legacy of the original Captain America, Steve Rogers. That's right; after spending a decade thrilling us with his performances as The Falcon, Anthony Mackie takes flight in the leading role of Captain America: Brave New World.
The first of three Marvel Cinematic Universe movies set for release this year, it's said to return to the more grounded thriller vibes of the second film in the franchise, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, as Sam Wilson looks to prove to the world that he is every bit as resilient and committed as his predecessor was. He shouldn't have to after he stepped up to stop The Flag-Smashers in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but he's going to do it anyway - because that's who Sam is.

We have less than three weeks to go until the release of ‘Captain America: Brave New World.’ The movie is scheduled for Valentine’s Day release on February 14th and will be Sam Wilson’s first solo outing as Captain America in an MCU movie.
The cast of the movie features Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, the new Captain America, who steps into the role as an underdog using his vibranium shield and wingsuit to prove himself as a leader. Danny Ramirez plays Joaquin Torres, Wilson’s friend and the new Falcon, while Carl Lumbly returns as Isaiah Bradley, a super soldier with a painful past.
The film will also introduce Harrison Ford’s President Thaddeus Ross, who becomes Red Hulk, Giancarlo Esposito as the villainous Sidewinder, and Tim Blake Nelson as The Leader, alongside several other notable characters.

Marvel just dropped a featurette of Captain America: Brave New World that features Anthony Mackie, Harrison Ford, and Kevin Feige. Feige and Mackie are old members of the Marvel family so they know the fun that’s part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) family. The Blade Runner actor was watching the kids play from afar until now. No more. Now Ford will get a taste of it too.
In the video, they take us behind the scenes of the upcoming movie, where fans will get a glimpse of the high-octane action they will witness this February. Harrison Ford looks especially excited about the project and by the looks of it, he really had fun portraying Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, aka Red Hulk, a role previously played by the late William Hurt.

Harrison Ford never got a chance to return as President James Marshall in an "Air Force One" sequel ("Air Force Two"?), but he will be playing another president in "Captain America: Brave New World" -- President Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross, who was previously played by the late William Hurt in previous Marvel movies. As he did in the comics, Ross will become the Red Hulk, and it looks like he'll be battling it out with Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), the new Captain America.
The President of the United States is a shady character? Truly the most outrageous idea in the Marvel Cinematic Universe yet! All kidding aside, between a reactionary, kleptocratic Republican party and a feckless, enabling Democratic one, you might be wishing for a president who would truly, courageously stand up for liberty and justice for all— perhaps someone like Captain America himself.
