Harrison Ford never got a chance to return as President James Marshall in an "Air Force One" sequel ("Air Force Two"?), but he will be playing another president in "Captain America: Brave New World" -- President Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross, who was previously played by the late William Hurt in previous Marvel movies. As he did in the comics, Ross will become the Red Hulk, and it looks like he'll be battling it out with Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), the new Captain America.
The President of the United States is a shady character? Truly the most outrageous idea in the Marvel Cinematic Universe yet! All kidding aside, between a reactionary, kleptocratic Republican party and a feckless, enabling Democratic one, you might be wishing for a president who would truly, courageously stand up for liberty and justice for all— perhaps someone like Captain America himself.

Ever since Steve Rogers decided to hand his shield off to his buddy Sam Wilson (a.k.a. Falcon) at the end of Avengers: Endgame, fans have wondered what was next. We got a Disney+ series that showed Sam’s hesitance to pick up the mantle of Captain America and the history that comes with it. By the end of the series, he knew he was the only person who could take on the role of Captain America. Now, where do we go? It looks like the upcoming story of super heroes and alter egos, Captain America: Brave New World, will tell us when it reaches theatre screens on February 14, 2025.

Sometimes, you gotta go through the hardest battles to earn your place in the sun. While Captain America might be famous for wielding a shield and fighting for justice, the upcoming Captain America: Brave New World is about to face a different kind of battle—one that doesn’t involve fighting Hydra but rather the high expectations of its predecessors and the shifting dynamics of the Marvel universe.

Let’s get this out of the way: Captain America: Brave New World is certainly set to make waves when it hits theaters. But, while fans will no doubt flock to theaters in droves for the February release, early box-office projections are showing that this sequel might not reach the same stratospheric heights as Captain America: Civil War.

Sam Wilson returns in Captain America: Brave New World, hitting theaters on February 14. To celebrate the highly-anticipated movie, Sam Wilson: Captain America #2 and Red Hulk #1, both on sale next month, will have special "Marvel Studios Variant Covers."
The covers will feature Marvel Studios' Head of Visual Development Ryan Meinerding's original character illustrations and designs for Sam Wilson and the Marvel Cinematic Universe debut of the Red Hulk.
We only have the former for now but it offers a new look at Sam's new Captain America costume. This is a big departure from both The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and the comics and more in line with what Chris Evans' Steve Rogers has typically worn on screen.
Launching last week, Sam Wilson: Captain America is written by Evan Narcisse and Greg Pak and drawn by Eder Messias. The high-flying adventure sets Captain America on a collision course with a...

Captain America is one of the most recognizable heroes in comic book history. Whether he's directing a team or striking out on his own, he's regarded as an incredibly respected and versatile fighter and tactician – sometimes even across enemy lines. His ability to rally and inspire others with American virtues makes him a standout leader, but that's not a praiseworthy accomplishment to every fan.
X user vandynesjanet invited fans to give their real opinions about Captain America, and though the post yielded some standout answers, one reply hit on one of Cap's most central characteristics. He's embodies what American virtue is meant to be and uses those ideals to inspire and motivate others.

Harrison Ford's Red Hulk has enough potential to be a recurring character after his introduction in Captain America: Brave New World, unlike many other MCU villains. Thaddeus Ross' MCU story took a while to reach its climax. Ross' journey began in 2008's The Incredible Hulk, was put on hold until 2016's Captain America: Civil War, and briefly resumed in 2021's Black Widow before Red Hulk appears on the scene in 2025's Captain America: Brave New World. In retrospect, Thaddeus Ross' transformation into Red Hulk may have been inevitable despite Hulk's lack of a solo movie and Ross' required recasting following William Hurt's passing.
Ross sides with the Leader and the Intelligencia to transform into the Red Hulk in the comics, but that doesn't seem to be the case in Captain America: Brave New World. Instead, Harrison Ford's President Ross appears to be an involuntary guinea pig for the Leader's experiments.

2025 is going to be a big year for Sam Wilson, so to celebrate Captain America, he's getting a new book of short stories starring the hero. Before the former Falcon hits theaters in his latest MCU film, see several writers pay tribute to Captain America in a seriously action-packed anthology.
Marvel Comics revealed that it was teaming up with Titan Books to produce Captain America: The Shield of Sam Wilson, an anthology novel containing 13 original short stories starring Sam. The writers involved are Maurice Broaddus, Jesse J. Holland, Gar Anthony Haywood, Nicole Givens Kurtz, Kyoko M., Sheree Renee Thomas, Gary Phillips, Danian Jerry, Gloria J. Browne Marshall, Glenn Parris, Christopher Chambers, and Alex Simmons.
The anthology is filled with awe-inspiring tales that see Captain America travel back in time, thwart an insurrectionist plot, and even take on villains such as Hydra, Sabretooth, and even Daredevil’s archenemy, the Kingpin.

2024 has been a big year for Marvel variant covers, featuring epic designs starring Godzilla and Venom Horse. For decades, single issue variant covers have been a unique way to boost interest in comics. Marvel has taken pride in its variant covers for years thanks to the Stormbreakers program, but 2024 has seen a tremendous rise in variants from numerous artists.
Anything is possible with a variant cover, and Marvel took full advantage of artists' imaginations throughout the year. There have been a number of collaborations announced that saw some incredible artwork crossing over Marvel's heroes with other franchises. Additionally, there have been tie-ins to some of Marvel's movies and even bizarre concepts that highlight a certain character in the Marvel Universe. 2024 was truly rife with incredible variants, and fans will be discovering new favorites from this past year well into 2025.

The Guardians of the Galaxy haven't yet been confirmed to be returning to the MCU, making me worried that Marvel Studios might be quietly trying to move on from the iconic cosmic superhero team. Since their debut in 2014's eponymous Phase 2 movie, the Guardians of the Galaxy team has been one of my favorite MCU properties. I loved seeing the team change and grow over the duration of the James Gunn-directed trilogy and Holiday Special, but, now, I'm nervous we might not see the Guardians of the Galaxy again.
2023's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 ended with the original Guardians of the Galaxy team disbanding, though Rocket and Groot stayed in the new line-up, with the former being promoted to team captain. After some of the recent MCU smash successes, I can't believe it's been almost half a decade since the franchise last broke one key box office record. The MCU timeline has been rife with major financial successes, which encouraged the blossoming of the Marvel movie empire as we know it today, and led to a slew of releases that quickly earned audience adoration. With that said, it's easy to overestimate and underestimate the franchise in equal measure as a result of the high bar set for the MCU both critically and financially.

In the past few years, the biggest character development that Monkey D. Luffy, the protagonist of One Piece, has witnessed is definitely the Nika transformation that got unlocked during his battle with Kaido in the Wano arc. Luffy unlocked his biggest potential and went on to defeat the Strongest Creature in the One Piece world.

While most of the fans of the series were happy that Luffy had got a new power, others were disappointed with the weight they put on Luffy. This weight is generally called the Chosen One Trope, which would not only remove the uniqueness in Luffy’s character as a protagonist but also disrupt the message that Oda has been trying to portray since the beginning.
However, what fans fail to realize is that Oda had rejected the Chosen One trope way before it became a part of Luffy’s character.

Captain America: Brave New World TV Spot Brings Back A Surprise Character From The Ant-man Franchise
With Captain America: Brave New World just over a month away from arriving in theaters, the promotional tie-ins have begun and Tide has released three new TV spots for 2025's first MCU movie.
You might have caught a Gif version of Red Hulk fighting Captain America but the full snippet - which was pretty easy to find on YouTube - can now be watched below. However, an even bigger talking point on social media has been the surprise return of Ant-Man and Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania's Dale.
Played by Gregg Turkington, he hired and fired Scott Lang from a San Francisco chain of Baskin-Robbins before later reuniting with the crook-turned-superhero after Ant-Man saved the universe in Avengers: Endgame.

If Marvel's first plans for a movie franchise had succeeded, the MCU probably wouldn't exist today. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has grown exponentially throughout the years, going from the Avengers' monumental team-up in 2012's The Avengers to their universe-defining battle against Thanos in 2019's Avengers: Endgame, and from Marvel Studios' first venture into streaming with WandaVision to the multiversal war at the center of Avengers: Secret Wars, as well as more than a dozen upcoming MCU projects in the next few years.

The return of Chris Evans in Avengers: Doomsday is undeniably exciting, but I have some reservations about the negative way it could affect other MCU characters. Evans' return in the upcoming MCU movie was confirmed in December 2024, despite it being unclear what exactly his role would be. This naturally raised the excitement for the already anticipated story of Avengers: Doomsday, which is still set for release worldwide in May 2026, with its sequel - Avengers: Secret Wars - coming a year later in 2027.
Evans' addition to the film makes Avengers: Doomsday's confirmed cast one that causes extreme excitement. Not only is Evans set to reunite with his former costar, Robert Downey Jr., but the heroes of 2025's Marvel movies such as The Fantastic Four: First Steps and Thunderbolts* are also confirmed to be part of the story. Chris Evans will be returning to the MCU in Avengers: Doomsday, and the most popular choice for his new Marvel character could finally pay off a nine-year-old quote from 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron. Chris Evans is returning to the MCU in 2026's Avengers: Doomsday, and a new theory puts a huge and hilarious twist on Evans' return after his five-year hiatus. Following his debut in 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger, Chris Evans played Steve Rogers' Captain America in ten MCU movies before his retirement from the role in 2019's Avengers: Endgame. He also played a shape-shifted Loki and reprised his classic role of the Human Torch, and Chris Evans will now be returning to reunite with the Russo brothers, Robert Downey Jr. and Hayley Atwell in Avengers: Doomsday.
Robert Downey Jr. was confirmed to be returning in Avengers: Doomsday during Marvel's Sdcc presentation in July, but he will be playing Victor Von Doom, a.k.a. Doctor Doom, rather than Tony Stark's Iron Man. Now that another MCU veteran is joining him, theories have been rife about who Chris Evans will portray in Doomsday.

One Piece is one of the most legendary anime series of all time and it has solidified its position as one of the most influential franchises of 2024 as well. According to Variety Fandom’s annual popularity report, this long-standing series ranked 8th among the most-searched franchises worldwide.
This is a testament to its enduring legacy. However, while One Piece surpassed iconic names like Naruto and Game of Thrones, it couldn’t quite dethrone the behemoth that is Marvel, which maintains its reign as the most dominant entertainment brand.

Chris Evans will be one of the stars of Avengers: Doomsday and following major reveals, a new Marvel Cinematic Universe theory shows how the actor could be back as his version of Captain America. Evans was one of the main faces of the MCU for several years, with the actor being a constant onscreen presence from 2011 to 2019. After co-leading the McU's Avengers movies with Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man as the de-facto leaders of the team, Evans' Captain America bowed out of the MCU in Avengers: Endgame, staying in the past with Peggy Carter.

Following reports suggesting Captain America: Brave New World would be one of the longest Marvel movies, it’s now being reported the movie will actually be one of the studio’s shorter movies.
Initially, the runtime of Captain America: Brave New World was reported to be 2 hours and 40 minutes which would have made it one of Marvel’s longest movies and the longest Captain America movie by a long shot. However, it seems the movie is actually about a half-hour shorter than that.
Marvel insider Daniel Rpk has reported that the runtime of Anthony Mackie’s first Captain America movie is actually set to come in at 2 hours and 4 minutes, putting the movie around two hours. This runtime is honestly much more in line with what we expected of the film as it would have been a bit interesting to see a nearly three-hour Captain America movie, especially when you...

It's been over half a decade since we last saw the Avengers assemble. With a seemingly endless list of new characters introduced during Phases 4 and 5, multiple teams appearing in Avengers: Doomsday seems likely.
Who will lead those remains to be seen but based on comments from Captain America: Brave New World producer Nate Moore, Sam Wilson is a top contender to reassemble Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
"There is certainly more story to be told for Captain America," he tells Empire Online. "Sam might find that, moving forward, he might be jumping out of the frying pan and into the proverbial fire."
Moore adds, "I think that Avengers teams are best when they are led by a Captain America. And this movie gives us a little bit of space to talk about, 'Where are the Avengers? What does it mean to have Avengers? And is Sam the right guy to lead them?...

Yet another major star from the Marvel Cinematic Universe's past is returning to help conclude the Multiverse Saga. Hayley Atwell is apparently set to return as Agent Cartner in "Avengers: Doomsday," which is due to hit theaters in 2026. This, according to the folks at Deadline, with the outlet reporting that Atwell will indeed return in some capacity in the film, which is being directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, of "Avengers: Infinity War" and "Avengers: Endgame" fame.
Plot details for the moment are being kept under wraps. What we know for sure is that the film will see several major actors returning to the MCU fold. Most recently, it was revealed that Chris Evans, known for playing Captain America for nearly a decade, will be returning in some capacity. It's unclear for now if Evans is playing Cap, or another role entirely. To that end, Robert Downey Jr., who previously played Iron Man,...

Chris Evans’ return to the MCU has set off a lot of speculation about who the actor will be playing. The actor has so far essayed two distinct roles in the MCU, that of Captain America and that of Johnny Storm in Deadpool & Wolverine.

7. Soldier Supreme
Introduced during 2018's Infinity Wars event, Soldier Supreme was an amalgamation of Captain America and Doctor Strange.
Not only does he have Cap's enhanced strength, agility, and combat skills, but the Soldier Supreme also wields Stephen Strange's mastery of magic and mystical artefacts (making him a formidable superhero on multiple fronts).
This would give Evans a chance to do something new with a role he's been tied to since 2011, portraying a Steve similar to the one we all know and love, albeit with a magical twist that could even see him fulfil Doctor Strange's role from the comics as Doom's right-hand-man.

Another major Marvel star is returning for "Avengers: Doomsday." The massive team-up movie is part one of the two-part finale to the ongoing Multiverse Saga, the series of movies (and shows) that have continued the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the aftermath of 2019's "Avengers: Endgame," which closed out the Infinity Saga. It looks like Marvel Studios is pulling out all of the stops here, as original Avengers actor Chris Evans, known for his role as Captain America, is returning to the MCU for the film.
According to The Wrap, Evans is indeed returning in "Avengers: Doomsday," which is set to hit theaters in 2026. While one could assume he will once again play the heroic Steve Rogers, Marvel has not confirmed the exact nature of his role in the film.

Marvel Rivals players who want to play Captain America should go into the game with a strategy if they want to truly emulate the star-spangled man with a plan. Cap is a Vanguard character in Marvel Rivals, meaning his role is to protect his teammates by putting himself in the middle of the action and soaking up some damage. While an important and selfless role like this makes total sense for Steve Rogers, players will need to be careful that they understand the responsibility they’re taking on for their entire team.
Players new to Marvel's Overwatch clone may take a little bit of time to learn how best to use Cap. His abilities are pretty straightforward, and they are all pretty much what players would expect Cap to be able to do. That said, playing a tank is a strategic role that requires an understanding of positioning. Players hoping...

At New York Comic Con in October, Nacelle Company CEO, Brian Volk-Weiss, announced the first wave of their upcoming line of Star Trek action figures. As TrekMovie.com reported at the time, the plan is for the figures to be under $30, allaying my initial price point fears. In place of those concerns, a new concern arose, which Volk-Weiss has recently addressed.

If you saw the new Funko Pop collection designed for Captain America: Brave New World, you may look like Red Hulk (Harrison Ford), too. That bellowing growl is not giving "Smash" in a steroid-rage way, but ridiculously angry in a "This sucks out loud" feel toward the other baddie in the film —The Leader.
Played by Tim Blake Nelson ("Looking Glass" in The Watchmen Max series), The Leader is every bit a fascinating antagonist in Captain America's world. The Hulk is associated with plenty of interesting heroes and villains that have sadly been absent in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, though the series has had plenty of opportunities to include them. As of the upcoming film Captain America: Brave New World, it seems as though the MCU has consigned itself to using characters associated with The Hulk in other characters' movies, with Red Hulk starring as the primary antagonist of Sam Wilson's first Captain America solo movie. There are still plenty of important Hulk characters that have yet to see use in the franchise.
There is an obvious reason as to why so many important heroes, villains, and side characters in the Hulk mythos haven't yet appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The sticky legal rights surrounding a Hulk solo movie prevented Marvel Studios from taking the time to explore more Hulk characters for a long time, leading...

There’s nothing more disheartening for a movie fan than when you go see a movie with a bunch of your friends, and while you absolutely love the movie, when the lights come on, and you walk out, you realize your friends absolutely Hated it. Sometimes this is justified, such as when my group of buddies rightly accused me of being insane for loving Die Another Day. At other times, they’re dead wrong, such as when one of my best friends tried to convince me Rushmore was bad (believe it or not – this also happened at The Matrix – but with a different friend). Another time I was totally disheartened by the reaction of a group of friends was back in the fall of 2004 when a group of us went to see Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow on opening night.

Everyone agrees that, after fifty years of publishing, Stephen King is the unquestioned King of Horror, but that isn't the only genre that the New England author has found success in. King's The Stand, first published in 1978, is less an outright horror novel and more of a post-apocalyptic cautionary tale about a world-ending plague called Captain Trips, although modern readers may consider that much more of a horror theme than it was intended as. The Stand, with its wild plot twists, has often been considered not just one of King's best works, but one of the best modern novels ever written.
Now, for the first time, authors other than King will be contributing to the lore surrounding this modern epic. Announced in October and now up for pre-order, the new anthology The End of the World as We Know It: Tales of Stephen Kings The Stand is an exciting new...

"One World Under Doom," an overarching status quo that sees Doctor Doom reign supreme, begins next February. In addition to a core title spotlighting the iconic villain's rise to glory as Sorcerer Supreme, Doom's rule will impact the entire Marvel Universe throughout 2025, specifically in various tie-in issues and series.

Thunderbolts: Doomstrike will be a five-issue limited series written by Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing (Nyx) and illustrated by rising star artist Tommaso Bianchi (Giant-Size Silver Surfer).
Recently, Bucky Barnes boldly assembled a team of black-ops heavy hitters to pursue the world's most dangerous individuals...inadvertently aiding Doom’s power grab. Now, his guilty conscience will drive him to challenge Doom's authority head-on and become a living symbol of resistance.

It began with 2008’s “Iron Man,” a film that introduced the world to Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark with the hint that he could be part of something greater. Over 30 films later, the story of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still being told, albeit with various tributaries and detours that introduce new characters and new worlds that may or may not cross paths one day. Each film in the MCU stands on its own to some degree, but like building blocks, they all connect as part of one interconnected universe. And in that way, watching the Marvel movies in order tells one grand story.

Captain America 4's Newest Trailer Just Made Captain America vs Red Hulk So Much More Exciting To Me
The newest trailer for Captain America: Brave New World got me a lot more excited for Sam Wilson's fight against the Red Hulk in the MCU. Starring Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford, it's been revealed that newly elected President Ross (Ford) will eventually transform into a monstrous Hulk, mirroring the character's evolution in the comics. That said, I initially found it hard to grasp the argument that Sam Wilson's Captain America (Mackie) is the Avengers best-suited to stop the new Red Hulk.
As seen in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Sam Wilson's Falcon chooses to wield the shield given to him by Steve Rogers and take on the mantle as the McU's next Captain America. Now, Captain America: Brave New World will see Wilson working alongside President Ross, at least until forces in the shadows seemingly bring about Ross' transformation into the Red Hulk.
