Some of the most interesting details in the world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe haven't been given enough attention by Marvel Studios. Marvel's world-building since the dawn of the MCU in 2008's Iron Man has been outstanding, as the version of the world in the MCU, dubbed Earth-616, is incredibly believable and as close to real life as it can be when inhabited by all manner of superpowered beings. Marvel Studios has fleshed out an entire history for the MCU, which includes some interesting facts and surprising details.
Over the last 17 years, Marvel Studios has crafted a vibrant and complex world, and interwoven its adapted characters through every fiber of it. The world of the MCU is, of course, wildly different and far removed from the real world, so while many historical events are the same in both, in the MCU, they come with a twist. Exclusive: Jonny Coyne will be reprising his role as Imperial Warlord in Jon Favreau’s feature take of The Mandalorian streaming series, The Mandalorian & Grogu.
Imperial warlord is part of the hologram Shadow Council in episode 7, season 3 of The Mandalorian in which he and other Imperial ranking officials meet with Giancarlo Esposito’s villain Moff Gideon. Gideon informs them about the Mandalorians’ plans to take back their home planet of Mandalore, while also questioning the whereabouts of Admiral Thrawn, a very notable bad guy in the Star Wars canon. The Shadow Council operates secretly against the New Republic. In that episode, Imperial Warlord tells the group about the opportunities in “plundering the hyperspace lanes.” He’s accused by Captain Gilad Pellaeon that his “hit and run operations are gaining too much notice.”
Coyne joins a growing cast that includes Pedro Pascal, Sigourney Weaver and Jeremy Allen White.
Favreau co-wrote the screenplay with Dave Filoni.

Few musicians know the world of Pixar and the Oscar-winning movie “Inside Out,” better than breakthrough composer Andrea Datzman. She worked with “Inside Out” composer Michael Giacchino for years before the blockbuster sequel, and Datzman received credit as the score coordinator on “Ratatouille,” “Up,” and “Inside Out,” among several other projects for the animation giant. So when she was approached to pick up the baton from Giacchino to write music for “Inside Out 2,” Datzman was thrilled by the challenge.
“It was a great responsibility here, not just with the message of the film and representing that musically in the most authentic way possible but also with the torch I was carrying forward,” Datzman tells Gold Derby. “The film is about demolition in some ways – and right from the start, they let you know that the world is changing inside of Riley, and they want to reflect that musically. The “Weeds” alum joins an ensemble that also includes Ariana DeBose, Bobby Cannavale, Simon Baker, Rosy McEwen and Jake Cannavale.

Clint Eastwood's The Enforcer beat Michael Bay to his best movie by a good 20 years. Despite having been a star for decades, there are surprisingly few Clint Eastwood movie franchises in existence. Clint always preferred to tackle new characters and stories, so outside of the Dollars trilogy or his Every Which Way... duology, he largely avoided reprising the same part. The key exception is the Dirty Harry movies, where Eastwood played San Francisco detective "Dirty" Harry Callahan a grand total of five times.
The original 1971 thriller was both hugely successful and controversial, with its story of a cop who takes the law into his own hands to stop a vicious serial killer. The first sequel, Magnum Force, dealt with the vigilante theme head on when Harry faced off with a squad of murderous cops, and the series became a reliable one for Clint throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Exclusive: God Friended Me creators Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt are returning to CBS, teaming with the former The Neighborhood writer-producer Laura Moran, James Wan’s Atomic Monster and CBS Studios for Area 51.
The half-hour workplace comedy, now in development, is single-camera, indicating that CBS continues to opportunistically take shorts in the single-camera comedy space where it has had a lot of success with the recently departed juggernaut Young Sheldon and ongoing hit Ghosts.
Last year, CBS ordered only multi-camera comedy pilots, and its two new comedy series for next season are both multi-cam, Poppa’s House and the Young Sheldon spinoff Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.
Multi-camera comedies are cheaper to produce, making them attractive for broadcast networks as budgets get squeezed amid declining linear ratings. For studios, broadcast single-camera comedies are hard to justify financially because of their higher cost and depressed network license fees.

Jeff Daniels contemplates life and death in a teaser trailer and first-look images for A Man in Full
“When you die, will people notice,” Charlie Croker (Jeff Daniels) asks in Netflix‘s teaser trailer for the upcoming limited series A Man in Full. The question is as old as time and something people often ask themselves when contemplating a swift exit from this mortal coil. What would prompt a real estate mogul to have such macabre thoughts? His bankruptcy and inevitable downfall, of course.
Here’s the official synopsis for A Man in Full courtesy of Netflix:
When Atlanta real estate mogul Charlie Croker faces sudden bankruptcy, political and business interests collide as Charlie defends his empire from those attempting to capitalize on his fall from grace.
A Man in Full is based on the New York Times best-selling novel by the late Tom Wolfe, who died of an infection in Manhattan in 2018. The six-episode limited series hails from David E. Kelley Productions and Royal Ties Productions Inc.

Developers are well aware that Call of Duty players are a fickle bunch, and trying to appease all of them is a near impossible task. There had reportedly been a drop in player numbers due to complaints about spawn points and subsequent traps, which in turn led to the latest patch from devs. This was introduced fairly recently, and it was thought that it might smooth things over for a period of time.
As with most things relating to CoD and Warzone, patches don’t appear to keep players happy for long, and sure enough, there were already gripes about the latest round of updates. However, this time it was in relation to killstreaks and, more specifically, cluster mines.
Why Are Players Annoyed at the Latest Call of Duty Update?

Apples Never Fall on Peacock brings Liane Moriarty's family drama to life with a star-studded cast and captivating storytelling. Sam Neill shines as patriarch Stan Delaney, portraying a complex character with depth and vulnerability in the series. Annette Bening stars opposite of Neill, and the rest of the cast brings the Delaneys to the small screen with an impressive amount of talent.
Apples Never Fall is the latest TV adaptation of Liane Moriarty's best-selling novels, and the Peacock series has an all-star cast bringing the book's story to life. Like the novel it's based on, Apples Never Fall follows the tennis-loving Delaney family in two timelines: before and after their mother vanishes. Joy Delaney's sudden disappearance dredges up the secrets and trauma within the seemingly perfect family, forcing the Delaney siblings to question everything they believe about their own parents.

Most of the buzzed-about network dramas of the 1990s have been largely forgotten these days.
ER and NYPD Blue might have been the talk of the town during the Clinton years, but in the Biden age, they're seldom discussed outside of retrospectives about what the cast members are up to these days.
Interestingly, the network shows from that era that have loomed largest in the public's memory are the ones that might broadly be described as "supernatural mysteries."
We're talking about Twin Peaks, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and, of course, The X-Files.
In fact, one could argue that no network drama from the past 30 years has proved as enduring and influential as the saga of Mulder and Scully.
The X-Files ran for nine seasons and inspired two feature films, a spinoff series (The Lone Gunmen), and a 2016 revival, with a second reboot rumored to be in the works courtesy of Black Panther director Ryan Coogler.

Manifest is the final series in the "Lost" generation of TV shows that were inspired by Lost's themes and plot. The "Lost" generation included other shows like The Leftovers, The Event, 4400, and The 100, which all featured missing planes/ships, stranded groups of people, and mysterious elements. While Manifest marks the end of the "Lost" generation, it has the potential to inspire a new era of mystery TV shows, just like Lost did in 2004.
When the sci-fi mystery show Manifest finally concluded in 2023, the finale did not just signal the end of the television series, but also symbolized the end of a period in TV that started 19 years ago with the premiere of Lost. For six seasons, J. J. Abrams' Lost captivated audiences with its intense mysteries and subtle sci-fi aspects, and since the series' initial release, other television shows have tried hard to recreate that iconic magic. On the surface, Lost follows a group of people who endure a plane crash that lands them on a lush and strange island. More than that, the show includes shocking secrets, twists, and mysteries that grip audiences from start to finish.
When Lost first premiered on ABC in 2004, a new wave of science fiction and mystery shows began to follow in its footsteps. These series all tried to evoke the same ambiance that Lost had, either by replicating the concept of people stuck in a remote place or including an atmosphere that is far more sinister and paranormal than it seems. Even after Lost concluded in 2010, these shows have cropped up often, joining the running for being "the new Lost.

Sharon Acker, the Canadian actress who portrayed Lee Marvin’s unfaithful wife in the 1967 neo-noir classic Point Blank and the right-hand woman Della Street opposite Monte Markham on a rebooted Perry Mason in the 1970s, has died. She was 87.

Robert Forster has died.
The beloved actor, who is best known for his roles on Jackie Brown and Breaking Bad, died on Friday following a battle with brain cancer. He was 78.
His passing comes on the same day the Breaking Bad movie, El Camino, was released.
Forster reprised his role Ed in that movie, the one he played on the hit AMC original series, meaning that fans may already have watched his final role.

Godfather of Harlem goes after the American Dream by any means necessary.

Godfather of Harlem is a modern look into the past which is both unflinching and hopeful. It's a crime drama, yes, but the law-breaking cuts both ways. Forest Whitaker plays real life New York Crime boss Bumpy Johnson after he got out of Alcatraz prison for taking the fall for the mob in a heroin deal.
The series leaves out one true fact which could have been extremely cinematic. When Johnson got out of Alcatraz, the people of Harlem threw him a ticker tape parade. It wasn't planned. It happened spontaneously. That's how much Bumpy was loved in the hood. His family moved to Harlem when Bumpy was 10 years old. His brother William was accused of killing a white man in Charleston, South Carolina. Born on Halloween 1905, he got the nickname “Bumpy” because he had a slightly deformed head.

CW Seed Live will be the home to some yet-to-be-announced original content, which, as the report teases, will range from documentary series to offerings in the supernatural genre. Additionally, like its platform cousin, Seed Live will not require a subscription,...

Call of Duty Black Ops 4's Blackout mode is getting a much-neeed update in the form of a new Alcatraz map.
Call of Duty: Black Ops IV's Blackout battle royale mode is getting a new map set on Alcatraz island. The map offers a much, much, smaller area than the existing Blackout map, which means that you can expect to enjoy a lot more close-quarters action than you might be used to in Blackout and other battle royale maps.
Games like Pubg have experimented with smaller maps before, and the results have mostly been positive. As we saw from Apex Legends, a little more action in a battle royale title can be quite refreshing.
A little more action also feels more appropriate for a Call of Duty take on battle royale (even though we happened to love the action featured in Blackout's original map). Speaking of traditional Call of Duty,...

“Shrill” digs into a lot in a very brief amount of time. At just six episodes, all of which run under 30 minutes, Hulu’s upcoming comedy takes the story of a quiet, self-effacing woman named Annie (Aidy Bryant) and spins it into a sharp exploration of self-worth, self-confidence, and even selfishness. There’s edifying scenarios and speeches about micro-aggressions and macro-aggressions tossed toward women that the world looks through instead of at, but there’s also heartbreaking moments of empathy for Annie’s friends and family. To call it a slice-of-life series wouldn’t do justice to the well-honed commentary — on everything from false perceptions of health to institutionalized exclusion — but part of what makes “Shrill” so engaging is its diversity of storylines.
Let’s start with Annie. The Portland-based writer works for a local alt-weekly with an strong online presence. Relegated to busy work for the past two years,...

Back when I previewed Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 in September, I had several concerns about the final product. Would a lack of a single-player campaign make the package feel cheap? And would the team-heavy approach gel properly with the series’ audience? Admittedly, it was a difficult place for Treyarch to be stuck in. The series has been getting long in the tooth for quite some time now, and a blast of innovation was needed. So, while the new additions to the formula were welcoming, it was a question of whether the entire package would come successfully come together.
With no campaign attached, Black Ops 4 is one massive multiplayer package. You have the traditional competitive modes that the series shot to popularity with, along with Treyarch’s fan-favorite Zombies mode. The big addition to the suite of modes this year, though, is Blackout. A variation on the popular battle royale genre,...

She also is expected to share in Barry‘s best comedy series nomination.
Sarnoff recently created and executive produced the TNT pilot Highland starring Margaret Cho and directed by Nisha Ganatra. I hear the project is currently being shopped by Tomorrow Studios and has been getting interest, with Ucp poised to come on board as co-producer if it’s picked up.
Sarnoff rose through the ranks on HBO’s Deadwood and ABC’s Lost, sharing in best drama series Emmy nominations for both shows. She went on to co-create Bad...

Ronald D. Moore has filled out the main cast of his upcoming Apple sci-fi series. Joel Kinnaman, who most recently starred in Netflix's Altered Carbon, is set to take on the lead role. The story is set on a world where the global space race never ended and Kinnaman will play a man named Edward Baldwin, who is one of the top Nasa astronauts.
It's great to see Kinnaman land another big series role. He is also attached to star in the Amazon series adaptation of the film Hanna and is also known for his roles on the shows House of Cards and The Killing.
The series also cast Michael Dorman (Patriot) and Sarah Jones (Alcatraz) in the series and they have been cast as Gordo and Tracy Stevens, a prominent Nasa couple.
There's no title for the series yet, but I've liked the work that Moore has done...

In 1973, Marlon Brando sent a Native American actress, Sacheen Littlefeather, to reject his Best Actor Oscar for “The Godfather.” Instead, she offered a firm, passionate plea for better Hollywood representation of Native Americans.
But Brando and Littlefeather’s story didn’t begin there. Four years earlier, both Littlefeather and Brando had taken part in a remarkable takeover of Alcatraz Island — an occupation that is is the subject of our latest “Shoot This Now” podcast. We invite you to listen on Apple or right here.

The takeover of Alcatraz by Native American activists was one of the most dramatic, and wittily subversive, protests in American history. In November 1969, the activists landed on the island and declared that they had “discovered” it — just as Europeans had claimed to discover America, even though it was obviously already populated.
They held the island for 19 months,...

I've been fascinated with Alcatraz ever since I was a kid. There's just something fascinating and haunting about that place and every time I'm in San Fransisco, I have to go! There are also some great movies with Alcatraz and the main setting. Two of my favorites are Clint Eastwood's Escape From Alcatraz and Michael Bay's The Rock.
Well, we've got a new movie coming set in Alcatraz. It's called Alcatraz and according to Collider, it's being developed by the producers of John Wick and 300. James Foley has also been attached to direct it. Foley is the director of the Fifty Shades of Grey sequels, so that doesn't spark much confidence. But prior to that, he did direct Glengarry Glen Ross and Fear.
The script was written by Ian Mackenzie Jeffers (The Grey, Death Sentence) and the story is said to be based on the true story of Frank Morris,...

In 1969, a small group of Native American activists took over Alcatraz Island — and held it for an incredible 19 months to draw attention to their history of mistreatment by the U.S. government.
We think it’s time someone made their story into a feature film, and we talk about it in our new “Shoot This Now” podcast, which you can listen to on Apple or Radio Public or right here.

The Native American demonstrators made a series of witty moves that also scored as pointed criticisms of U.S. policy. For example: They said they were willing to pay $24 in glass beads and red cloth — the same amount, as the legend goes, that Native Americans received for the island of Manhattan. They also cited a long-broken treaty that they said entitled them to any unused federal lands.
