We’re in the thick of an ongoing movie star crisis and it’s one that no amount of “Glen Powell grinning on a red carpet” images can easily fix. His rise might have been a rare spot of good news on that front but it’s otherwise been a rough period for the emergence of true, crowd-drawing leads, a problem across many genres that’s recently been felt most in the action sphere. The last year has seen Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Henry Cavill, Bill Skarsgård, Dev Patel and, last month, Ke Huy Quan face a mixture of critical shrugs and audience lack of interest while those more established, such as Gerard Butler, Keanu Reeves and Jason Statham, have continued to dominate.

It’s no secret that since her Royal exit from the UK, Meghan Markle has tried reinventing her career and public image in every way possible. Recently, she took yet another attempt at rebranding herself in the public eye, with her new eight-episode Netflix show, With Love, Meghan.

But sadly, like before, Meghan Markle’s efforts went down the gutter just as swiftly it arrived on the streamer. Despite her attempt at sharing cooking, gardening, and hosting tips, it’s Markle’s superficial behavior and over-the-top perfection that caught people’s attention, particularly Megyn Kelly’s, who eviscerated the actress’ show and framed her as the “most insecure person”.

The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle returned with another attempt at winning over the public. And spoiler alert: it didn’t work, again!

Sometimes, an actor takes a leap into uncharted territory and absolutely nails it. That’s exactly what Ke Huy Quan did after his Oscar-winning turn in Everything Everywhere All at Once. Riding high on his Best Supporting Actor win in 2024, Quan decided to mix it up and step into the rollicking world of action-comedy with Love Hurts. Love Hurts tells the story of a seemingly ordinary realtor whose quiet life takes a sharp turn when his ex-partner-in-crime resurfaces with a cryptic message. Throw in a dangerous, crime-lord brother hot on his heels, and suddenly our reluctant hero is forced to dig up the past he’s tried so hard to bury. Filled with fast-paced action, hilarious moments, and a surprising amount of heart, the film delivers on all fronts,...

Five episodes into With Love, Meghan, audiences will have learned three things about host Meghan Markle: She takes pride in making breakfast for her family every morning; her favorite tunes to listen to are ‘70s soft rock, Yacht rock and French dinner party music; and she no longer wishes to be referred to as Meghan Markle.
“It’s so funny that you keep saying ‘Meghan Markle,’ you know, I’m Sussex now,” the Duchess of Sussex tells guest Mindy Kaling in episode two of the Netflix series. “You have kids and you go, ‘No, I share my name with my children.’ I didn’t know how meaningful it would be to me, but it just means so much to go, ‘This is our little family name.’”

Ke Huy Quan‘s leading debut with Love Hurts may not have blazed as hot as his comeback in Everything, Everywhere All at Once, but it’s certainly the type of throwback movie that is rarely seen nowadays. It’s a simple, fun, goofy little action comedy that’s brisk enough for an entertaining casual viewing and it doesn’t try to be anything more. Quan’s charm and his action prowess really come through and it’s cool to see him step up into the lead role.
Love Hurts is set to have a collector’s edition 4K Blu-ray release courtesy of Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, according to Blu-ray.com. While Love Hurts didn’t make a big splash at the box office, you can catch the movie on physical media with a bunch of special features, including a bevy of deleted and alternate scenes. With Love, Meghan premiered Tuesday on Netflix, and the reviews are abysmal. Meghan Markle, in her latest attempt to win over audiences, invites us into her carefully curated world of backyard honey, homemade bath salts, and bizarre, life-changing conversations—like explaining to Mindy Kaling why the Duchess should be addressed as “Sussex.”

Through her 8-episode show, although Meghan Markle hopes to dazzle us with her lifestyle, the show feels less like an intimate peek into her life and more like an extended lecture on how to be effortlessly perfect. Turns out viewers aren’t buying her ego trip because people want drama, not a royal-infused Ted Talk on self-care and social status.

Meghan Markle has returned to Netflix with a new show, after previously sharing juicy Royal tea in her 2022 documentary series Harry & Meghan.

Spoiler Alert !!!Spoiler Alert: If you haven’t watched “With Love, Meghan” yet & plan to, proceed with caution!
Ah, the life of a Duchess. When I first heard about With Love, Meghan, Meghan Markle’s latest Netflix endeavor, I thought, “Well, here we go—another ‘look how fabulous my life is’ show.” And, well, it’s sprinkled with just enough of that to make you roll your eyes. But let’s be real, I had to take a peek. I mean, the endless conspiracies and royal family drama never really grabbed me—unless you count the paparazzi’s endless thirst for scandal.
But when one of them tried to dabble in something that usually accompanies my Sunday afternoon naps—cooking and beekeeping, no less—I had to tune in. While I had never been a fan of Markle in Suits, despite swooning over Gabriel Macht’s Harvey Specter, she brought...

Meghan Markle’s new Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, is finally here, and, as expected, it’s stirring the pot. It’s like when you’re excited about a new recipe and, instead of a delicious dish, you end up with something you can’t quite put your finger on—kinda like undercooked chicken. On the surface, it promises all the trimmings: cooking, beekeeping, and bonding with friends like Roy Choi and Mindy Kaling. But something doesn’t quite rise to the occasion.

Mindy Kaling was a guest on Meghan Markle’s new show, With Love, Meghan, this week.
On Tuesday, March 4, all eight episodes of Meghan Markle’s Netflix series dropped on the streaming service.
The Office alum appeared in Episode 2, titled Welcome to the Party.
Mindy dropped by the home where Meghan was filming, which is not where she lives with Prince Harry, to plan a kid’s party.
However, it seems the actress got more than she bargained for when speaking with the Duchess of Sussex.
More importantly, Mindy got a lesson in the proper name to call Prince Harry’s wife.

The friends were having a good time chatting but Meghan had to correct Mindy at one point in the episode.
Meghan and Mindy were talking about their childhoods, and Meghan admitted she was raised on fast food and TV dinners.

Picture this, the world’s greatest tennis player and a duchess-turned-lifestyle-guru walk into a kitchen. No, it’s not the setup for a joke, it’s a setup for the launch of With Love, Meghan, where Meghan Markle invites her dear friend, Serena Williams to whip up some culinary delights. But as the spatulas fly and the cameras roll, fans can’t help but notice that this dynamic duo’s chemistry seems a tad… undercooked.

From ‘Babygirl’ to ‘Bridget Jones,’ How Women Are Taking Control in May-December Romances

If it feels like you’ve seen a lot of movies lately where women are dating much younger men, well, it’s because you have. The latest is “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy,” now streaming on Peacock, where in her fourth and likely final outing, Renée Zellweger’s new love interest is played by 26-years-younger star of “The White Lotus,” Leo Woodall.
But Bridget is not alone. Last year saw the release of “The Idea of You,” in which Anne Hathaway’s character falls in love with a pop star 16 years her junior (played by Nicholas Galitzine); “A Family Affair,” where Nicole Kidman falls in love with a man also 16 years her junior; “Lonely Planet,” which sees Laura Dern fall for Liam Hemsworth, who is 23 years younger than her; and “Babygirl,” wherein Kidman once again plays a character who falls for a man 24 years younger than her. David Leitch may be in talks to direct Ocean’s 14 for Warner Bros, as we confirmed just last month. But we’re told that will not be his next project, as he’s currently moving quickly toward production on a new bank heist action flick at Amazon.

Although the same film adorned the top of the box-office weekend top ten for two consecutive weeks prior, a new film stands firmly in the number one spot as Captain America: Brave New World took in $75.5 million more than its closest competition just prior to the Presidents’ Day holiday.
In its first weekend of release, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures’ latest Marvel release, Captain America: Brave New World easily took control of the box-office weekend top ten by bringing in $88.5 million over the pre-holiday weekend. This was more than adequate to best second-place finisher Paddington in Peru which debuted over the weekend to the tune of $13 million for Sony Pictures Releasing. Meanwhile, last weekend’s second-place film, Heart Eyes, dropped to third where it brough in $10 million for Sony Pictures Releasing, raising its two-week total to $21.5 million. Last weekend’s top film, Dog Man, however, fell three spots to land...

Led by “Captain America: Brave New World” (Disney), the conjunction of Valentine’s Day falling on Friday and the Presidents Day weekend boosted U.S./Canada grosses to by far the best in 2025 so far. With over half ($88.5 million) of the weekend’s box office draw going to the latest Marvel release, theaters took in around $156 million. That’s 50 percent better than any weekend so far this year.
That counts as double relief for theaters. The needed strong total raises year-to-date numbers to 22 percent ahead of last year so far, and it also comes with reaffirmation that Marvel remains vital.
With its B- Cinemascore, the worst for an MCU film, as well as mostly bad reviews, there was real concern the first of three franchise releases in 2025 might fall flat. How it holds remains to be seen, but despite the headwinds it seemed to face, its gross is at or above expectations.

It looks like Captain America: Brave New World is posting our first $100 million opener of the year, even if it comes with a bit of an asterisk next to it. While, yes, Disney can boast that Brave New World has opened to $100 million, the caveat is that the opening is based on the box office results for the entire holiday weekend (tomorrow is President’s Day), and that the three-day opening is a comparatively modest $88.5 million (according to Deadline). That’s pretty close to what we predicted earlier this week and a far cry from the usual $100 million plus weekends Marvel was chalking up in their heyday, which seems to have ended.
Think of it this way – two years ago Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania made $120 million over the same President’s Day weekend, and people called it a flop. Brave New World, with all the reshoots that went into it,...

Warner Bros. has confirmed that a sequel to the beloved 1985 adventure film is in development, with Potsy Ponciroli set to write the script. The project is moving forward nearly 40 years after the original movie first hit theaters.
Steven Spielberg, Kristie Macosko Krieger, and Holly Bario will be producing for Amblin Entertainment, joined by Chris Columbus, who wrote the original screenplay. Lauren Shuler Donner will serve as an executive producer. At this stage, no director has been announced, and plot details remain under wraps.
The original movie, directed by Richard Donner and produced by Spielberg, followed a group of kids who stumbled upon an ancient treasure map and embarked on a wild adventure to uncover the hidden riches.
Starring Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Corey Feldman, Ke Huy Quan, and Martha Plimpton, the film became an instant hit, grossing $125 million worldwide on a $19 million budget.

The long-awaited “Goonies” sequel inches forward. Warner Bros. has hired Potsy Ponciroli, writer and director of warmly reviewed indie western “Old Henry,” to write the screenplay for the legacy sequel for Warner Bros Motion Picture Group.
No director is currently attached, but Steven Spielberg, Kristie Macosko Krieger and Holly Bario will produce for Amblin Entertainment alongside Chris Columbus (who wrote the original), with Lauren Shuler Donner serving as executive producer.
Plot details are being kept in a sunken pirate ship, guarded by a menacing octopus — in other words, under wraps.
Recently, the cast of the original film reunited for star Ke Huy Quan’s hand and footprint ceremony at the Tcl Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, with the same group showing up to the premiere of “Love Hurts.” “Love Hurts” reunited Astin and Quan on screen for the first time in almost 40 years.

Forget romcoms – this year sees new releases focusing on gore, toxic relationships and android romances
It’s mid-February, which means love is in the air, elaborate dates are being planned and couples are flocking to multiplexes, perhaps hoping to see a much-advertised new romantic entanglement from the lovably yearning singleton Bridget Jones. They won’t actually find her there, though; in the United States, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy is only playing on Peacock. In US movie theaters, the date crowd can find plenty of Valentine’s Day-themed entertainment, but they’ll have to steel themselves for the sight of reds and pinks that aren’t strictly decorative.
This year’s gory holiday-adjacent offerings including the Valentine’s-set Love Hurts, in which a seemingly mild-mannered realtor reconnects with a lost love and they are violently confronted with all the people who want both of them dead; the Valentine’s-set Heart Eyes,...

This weekend, all eyes at the box office are on Captain America: Brave New World, as it’s being seen by many as a barometer against whether or not audiences are getting sick of superhero fare. Indeed, the failure of The Marvels must have sent a chill down the spine of many Disney execs, with it once assumed that any movie being the Marvel banner was guaranteed to open well. That proved not to be the case, although the smash success of Deadpool & Wolverine proved that audiences would still turn out in droves if they had a good reason to.
As such, if Captain America: Brave New World manages to open to over $100 million this weekend, any talk of “superhero fatigue” will likely fall by the wayside. Industry estimates have it opening around $90 million, but I actually think it will open in the range of Black Widow, which had...

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Bridget Jones comes to the rescue in a season where the holiday of love has so far been dedicated to horror (Heart Eyes) and action (Love Hurts). The latter, a violent Jackie Chan ripoff, is the one Universal chose to release in theaters in the U.S., but the fourth go-round with the delightful romantic comedy Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy is the one Universal should have given as a valentine to U.S. exhibition. Instead, it is only being released in theaters internationally, and of course the UK for this very British movie. As for America? Well, you better subscribe to Peacock because inexplicably it is going day-and-date straight to streaming.

Ke Huy Quan’s first time out as a leading man is currently in theaters for a twist on the upcoming Valentine’s Day usual programming with Love Hurts, but while the newly revived Academy Award-winner makes the promotional rounds, he inevitably fields questions about a possible Goonies sequel and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Quan stole the hearts of 80s kids as the lovable sidekick in those movies, and Quan, now a leading man in an action film, reflects on being scared one time while filming Temple of Doom.
According to Variety, Quan would tell Entertainment Weekly about a certain scene they were about to film when the young Quan started to cry. He explains,

Ke Huy Quan told Entertainment Weekly that Harrison Ford calmed his nerves when he got scared on the set of Steven Spielberg’s 1984 adventure “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom,” which marked Quan’s first acting job. He was just a child at the time.
“When we shot this sequence, I was so scared,” Quan said of a sequence where Ford’s Indiana Jones helps his character, Short Round, escape from the Temple of Doom. “And I cried. I remember Harrison Ford kneeling down in front of me and asking me if I was okay.”
“He said, and I’ll never forget this, ‘Ke, I want you to remember, I will never hurt you,'” Quan continued. “When he said that, oh my gosh, it just made me love him so much more. Here is Indiana Jones telling me that he’s gonna take care of me.”

Ke Huy Quan’s latest movie, Love Hurts, has become the latest example of a movie grappling with critical disappointment. Jonathan Eusebio’s directorial debut offers an action-packed ride but fails to deliver in most other aspects, drawing critical comparison to the infamous “Zack Snyder Ratings Curse”– a trend where movies despite strong fan followings, receive scathing critical reviews.

Love Hurts currently holds a devastating 19% critic rating but a 67% verified audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Heart Eyes North America Box Office: Opening Weekend Update (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Sony’s new R-rated horror thriller Heart Eyes has landed at the #2 spot in the domestic box office chart as projected. However, the film earned lower than the predicted opening weekend range. The movie opened with positive reviews, carrying a reported production budget of $18 million. Scroll below for the deets.
Its lack of star power and being released on the Super Bowl weekend might be one of the reasons for an underwhelming weekend despite showing promise with its release-day collection. The movie was directed by Josh Ruben, who has directed Scare Me and Werewolves Within. It is a romantic comedy slasher with a B- rating on CinemaScore.
According to Luiz Fernando’s report, Heart Eyes collected only $8.5 million on its three-day opening weekend, whereas it was predicted to earn between $11 million and $14 million. It is 22.7-39.3% less than the expected prediction.

Ending a five-week trend of a new film claiming the top spot of the box-office weekend, Dog Man held onto the number one position for a second consecutive weekend, albeit by only a margin of only $5.2 million.
In its second weekend of release, DreamWorks Distribution’s Dog Man remained in first place with $13.7 million. This was more than enough to best second-place finisher, Heart Eyes, which debuted in second place with $8.5 million for Sony Pictures Releasing. Meanwhile, Universal Pictures saw its Love Hurts debut in third place with $5.8 million over the weekend. Dropping a spot from last weekend, Mufasa: The Lion King landed in fourth place where it took in $3.9 million for Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, bringing its eight-week total to $235.2 million. Despite falling from second to fifth place this weekend, Companion managed to bring in $3.02 million in its second weekend of release to lift its overall total to $15.5 million for Warner Brothers.

“Mufasa” is still showing box office strength, with the photorealistic “Lion King” prequel clearing $671 million in global ticket sales.
Over the weekend, the film added another $8.5 million from 52 overseas markets. After eight weekends on the big screen, Disney’s musical blockbuster has grossed $235 million domestically and $432.9 million internationally to stand as the seventh-biggest release of 2024. Without much in the way of competition, worldwide revenues are nearing $700 million. It’s an encouraging reversal in theatrical fortunes after a soft start ahead of Christmastime, even if those returns are nowhere close to the towering heights of its predecessor, Jon Favreau’s 2019 “The Lion King” remake ($1.66 billion globally). Still, the turnaround is vital for Disney because “Mufasa” was hugely expensive, costing above $200 million to produce and roughly $100 million to promote.
In another global milestone, “Paddington in Peru,” the third tale about the marmalade-loving bear, crossed $100 million at the international box office. The animated...

If it makes anyone feel better, the $55 million total box office was the best for any Super Bowl weekend since 2020. It also continues year to date improvement, besting 2024 by close to 50 percent.
“Dog Man” (Universal) repeated as #1 with $13.7 million but unexpectedly dropped 62 percent in its second weekend after a surprisingly strong opening. “Heart Eyes” (Sony) and “Love Hurts” (Universal), two new wide releases, combined managed $15 million.
The DreamWorks animated film opened about the same as “The Wild Robot,” with a similar A Cinemascore. It was unlikely that “Dog Man” would reach the $144 million “The Wild Robot” attained, but based on precedent (similar films usually triple their openings), it seemed like it could become a $100 million grosser. With its steep drop, $85 million feels more likely.
The year has seen nine non-franchise studio wide releases to date, most mid-sized or lower budgets, but only “Dog Man” and “One of Them Days” (Sony...

The notoriously slow Super Bowl weekend lived up to its dire reputation at the box office this weekend, with neither of the weekend’s two promising new releases, Heart Eyes and Love Hurts, managing to attract much of an audience. As we predicted earlier this week, Captain Underpants spinoff Dog Man didn’t have any trouble keeping its paws on the top spot. However, the 62% week-to-week drop-off isn’t anything to write home about, with the general consensus being that the $13.7 million weekend is a disappointment. However, with a $54 million gross, the film will easily turn a nice profit for Universal and Dreamworks, although it might not earn enough to merit a sequel at this point. Woof.
Heart Eyes, a pretty darn good rom-com/slasher mash-up, opened much softer than expected with $8.5 million. The B-minus CinemaScore isn’t bad for a horror flick, but it seems this won’t launch...
