The Boys will end its run with season 5, but that's not even close to being the most exciting upcoming project in its shared cinematic universe on Prime Video. The Boys started out as a satire of the sprawling superhero franchises owned by Marvel and DC; it even has a scene in which Vought Studios overextends itself by announcing multiple phases’ worth of sequels and spin-offs all at once. But in the last couple of years, in response to its runaway success, The Boys has become the very thing it was spoofing.
Since The Boys has become the jewel in the Amazon crown, the megacorporation — which is suspiciously similar to the franchise’s corporate big bad, Vought International — is refusing to let it die. The Boys has several spin-offs already on the air and has even more in development, like a show set in Mexico with the working title The Boys: Mexico.

The Boys has become one of the most popular superhero franchises, which is hilarious considering how much both the show and the comic book it's based on absolutely hate superhero franchises. But, nevertheless, The Boys is certainly a superhero franchise that’s here to stay, something that became clear with the spin-off series Gen V, and with the announcement of a new spin-off prequel series, Vought Rising. And in the latter series, The Boys finally has the chance to explore one particular team of supes that not even the comic fully went into.
In The Boys #54 by Garth Ennis, John McCrea, and Keith Burns, Hughie Campbell and Greg Mallory (the original founder of the Boys) are discussing the history of supes. Specifically, the two are talking about how Vought-American’s supes once fought in the military, and how they didn’t last very long at all. After completely botching a...

The fourth season of The Boys aired on Amazon Prime Video earlier this year. The season was dinged by some fans for feeling a little slow, but it ended with a huge crash as sociopathic superhero Homelander essentially took over the country, becoming its de facto leader. According to showrunner Eric Kripke, this latest season was designed to set things up for a fifth and final season, which is in production now. As Kripke told Entertainment Weekly, Hughie (Jack Quaid) "solidly learn[ed] what it means to be human," Butcher (Karl Urban) "completely committ[ed] to being a monster," and Homelander "successfully t[ook] over every single thing and chang[ed] the country into basically a Homelander-led kingdom."
Now that all that is in place, Kripke and company are ready to blow our minds in the final season. "It's just such a gift to know, as a filmmaker anyway, when your story's ending because...

If there’s one thing Eric Kripke knows, it’s how to hook an audience and keep them binging way past bedtime and eagerly waiting for more. Seriously, this guy is like a wizard of the TV land who crafts shows that grab you by the feels, and literally, the throat.
You might know him as the mastermind behind Supernatural, the cult favorite that made us terrified of flickering lights and deeply invested in a ’67 Chevy Impala. And well, who can forget the fan-favorite The Boys, which showcases the twisted take on superheroes that feels like a chaotic therapy session for everyone sick of caped crusaders?

The cast of The Boys reunites as filming of the Prime Video series' final season is set to begin. The Boys season 4 concluded with a game-changing shift as Homelander (Antony Starr) now controls the new President of the United States, Steven Calhoun (David Andrews). Homelander is the president in all but name and now has an army of supes at his command. With the show coming to an end, The Boys season 5 will be the final opportunity to defeat Homelander.
On Instagram, Mother's Milk actor Laz Alonso shared a photo of The Boys cast reuniting as they prepare to film the series' final season. In addition to Alonso, the picture includes Starr, Jessie T. Series creator and showrunner Eric Kripke confronts quite a few major societal fears in his hit Prime Video series "The Boys," ranging from the dangers of late-stage capitalism to police brutality. It's a show with enough head-popping, gory, and otherwise utterly disturbing moments to impress even the most die-hard horror fan. However, there's apparently there's only one thing that scares Kripke when it comes to the franchise, and it's honestly kind of tame by comparison. Then again, nothing on this planet is as terrifying as Homelander, the nightmarish vision of someone like Donald Trump if he had Superman's powers.
In an interview with Collider, Kripke revealed that his biggest fear for "The Boys" and its various spin-offs would be for the property to become the very thing it's been satirizing this whole time. It might seem a little silly for the guy behind the ultimate superhero satire to basically be...

Over the course of its four seasons, Prime Video's The Boys has taken aim at major superhero franchises (numerous shots have been fired at Marvel Studios and Warner Bros./DC), with Vought basically doubling for a massive studio machine that churns out endless sequels and spin-offs with little regard for the quality of the projects.
It hasn't gone unnoticed that, as the show has grown in popularity over the years, these parodies have been lacking some bite, and The Boys has spawned a few spin-offs of its own. In addition to Gen V and the animated Diabolical series, we have Vought Rising and The Boys: Mexico in development (and they're just the ones that have been announced).
While speaking to Collider, showrunner Eric Kripke admitted that he is afraid of the show selling out by becoming what it's been satirizing.

The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke has revealed that he shares the fan bases concerns about expanding the franchise into a widespread cinematic universe. When it premiered in 2019, The Boys was an incisive satire of Marvel and DCs comic book movies, featuring superheroes that are self-serving fascists and a corporation that wants to cram an endless stream of escapist superhero content down the publics throats. But the longer The Boys goes on and the more spinoffs it launches the closer it gets to becoming the kind of superhero franchise it was supposed to make fun of.
It already doesnt help that The Boys is owned and distributed by Amazon, exactly the kind of evil megacorporation that Vought International is a critique of. Even if it was still just one series telling one superhero satire story, it would seem pretty hypocritical for an Amazon product to try to say anything about corporate greed.

The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke discusses his fears regarding the expansion of the show's universe. The satirical superhero series has had four seasons thus far, and will soon go into production in its fifth and final season. This is far from the end of The Boys universe, however, which has already had a spinoff series with Gen V, which has already had one season. Gen V season 2 and The Boys season 5 have been confirmed, as well as the development of a prequel series, Vought Rising.
Speaking with Collider, Kripke addresses his fears concerning the expansion of The Boys universe. When it comes to expanding The Boys universe, the creator's biggest fear is "becoming the thing [they've] been satirizing for five years." He described The Boys as being "punk rock," and he also cited this as a reason for the show to try not to sell out. He is determined to use...

Jack Quaid has become a pretty big star since he first started his run on Prime Video's darkly comedic superhero series "The Boys." But still, Hughie is his calling card, and he's got one more season of Nsfw adventures before his time in the role is done. As far as "The Boys" season 5 goes, the actor does have one pretty simple request.

The Boys Season 5: Release Date, Cast Details, & What to Expect Next! ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
It’s official: The Boys Season 5 is on the way, ready to close out Prime Video’s blockbuster superhero satire in explosive style. Even before The Boys Season 4 finale dropped, it was already clear that this was the penultimate season. Now, Season 5 is confirmed as the series’ final chapter, with all signs pointing to a grand exit. And though it’s still in early development, showrunner Eric Kripke has hinted at what’s in store as he takes fans through his “last ten pages” of twisted superhero carnage.
But with The Boys, no finale’s ever a quick hit. The fourth season boasted a massive 21% viewer spike over its predecessor and wasn’t shy about tackling 2024’s political landscape. The final episode even required a last-minute title change, dropping its intended name following a high-profile attempted assassination.

We're currently between seasons of The Boys, Prime Video's subversive superhero show about a world where superheroes are both real and completely awful. The fifth and final season of The Boys will likely air in 2026, wrapping up the story of the conflict between sociopathic superman Homelander and nigh-sociopathic superhero-hater Billy Butcher.
But Amazon has no intention of letting that be the end of things. It's already aired a first season of one spinoff show called Gen V, set at a college where young superheroes are trained to use their powers and avoid moral accountability for their actions. There's also a Spanish-language spinoff planned called The Boys: Mexico.
Finally, there's Vought Rising, a prequel series that will explore the foundations of Vought, the massive corporation behind a lot of the superheroes we come to meet and loathe on The Boys. Vought Rising will revolve around two characters we met on the original series: Soldier Boy,...

Prime Video has announced an explosive new addition to the fifth and final season of The Boys, with Stranger Things alum Mason Dye set to play Bombsight.
Though this Supe doesn't appear to be based on any specific character from the comics, he was mentioned last season as the star of a '50s Vought superhero film called The Curse of Fu Manchu.
So, like Soldier Boy and Stormfront, this guy has been around for quite a while.
According to Variety, Bombsight is also likely to appear in the upcoming prequel series Vought Rising opposite Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash.
We recently learned that Daveed Diggs (Snowpiercer) has also joined the cast of season 5, but details on his character are being kept under wraps.
Let’s give a warm welcome to Mason Dye, joining as Bombsight in Season 5. More details, you ask? Ya know better by now. pic.twitter.com...

Sometimes, looking back can help with what’s coming next.
That was the message from Sony Pictures Television Studios president Katherine Pope on Wednesday during a keynote interview in Rome at the Italian confab Mia, in which she addressed everything from Season 5 of The Boys to calling for gaps between seasons to shrink.
Asked to apply her experience — which includes a decade at NBCUniversal, long before joining Sony more than two years ago — she said certain principles from the broadcast system could help inform a better way to produce in the future.
“There was a sense of time and money in the U.S. broadcast system,” she said. “You really had to get shows done. You did not have a choice. We’re now seeing the hangover of the boom times, and people will say they don’t know if they can do it for this amount of money or make the schedule.

The Boys season 5 adds a new actor to its cast, as a Stranger Things star joins as a new Supe. Created by Eric Kripke, Prime Video's hit superhero parody show returned for season 4 earlier this year, continuing Billy Butcher's (Karl Urban) quest for vengeance against Homelander (Antony Starr) and Vought. The Boys season 5 is now confirmed to bring the show to an end, with a roster of both new and old Supes assembling for the final episodes.

As for where audiences will have seen Dye previously, the actor recently appeared in Stranger Things season 4 as Jason Carver, a Hawkins High basketball star and supporting antagonist.

Another brutal Stormfront is imminent as Aya Cash braces fans for Vought Rising.
Although the actress admitted they “don’t actually know yet” when The Boys spin-off will begin filming, she teased an exciting prequel to the comic book adaptation after reading the first two episodes.
“I’ve read two scripts and they’re absolutely insanely good. But that’s about all I can tell you,” Cash told ComicBook while discussing her new superhero genre satire series The Franchise, premiering Sunday on Max.
Deadline reported in July that Prime Video had ordered the spin-off of The Boys, shortly before Cash and co-star Jensen Ackles shared the news at Comic-Con.
Showrunner Paul Grellong and executive producer Eric Kripke described the prequel as “a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy (Ackles), and the diabolical maneuvers of a Supe known to fans...

Aya Cash Comments on the Upcoming ‘Vought Rising’ Prequel Series: “[It’s] absolutely insanely good.”
The Boys is one of the most popular superhero series in the world. The series recently concluded its fourth season on July 18, 2024, and is preparing the groundwork for its fifth and final season.
As you might remember, despite some backlash from the so-called “fans,” the season was Certified Fresh, and the viewership figures proved it was a huge success, even surpassing Season 3.
But, even though the main series is slowly approaching its end, The Boys brand is growing, and more new projects will be released in the future as part of a larger franchise. One of the major projects that will be part of The Franchise is the prequel series Vought Rising, work on which has already begun.
As you might recall, Aya Cash’s Stormfront and Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy will return to this series, which will chronicle the beginnings of Vought International and explore the evolution of supes in modern America.

Amazon’s The Boys TV series is slowly drawing towards its end, with the fifth season on the horizon. However, fans don’t need to be fraught since the creators are in no mood to end the franchise with the show. The satirical superhero show featured a bunch of intriguing characters who deserve to be explored.
Actress Aya Cash revealed in an interview that there are plans for a spin-off show with another popular co-star. Jensen Ackles plays Soldier Boy in the show while Cash portrays Stormfront. The duo will star in an upcoming series, Vought Rising, for which the actress claims the script is perfect.
The spin-off is expected to be a success
The Boys has been gaining a lot of attention from viewers ever since it premiered in 2019. Eric Kripke‘s superhero satire series is based on the comics of the same name created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson.

The Boys has a new show set in Mexico lined up, and the promise of this new spinoff will inevitably hurt the stakes of the mainline series final season. Although The Boys was conceived as a parody of the sprawling cinematic universes launched by Marvel and DC, mocking those studios penchant for announcing endless sequels and spinoffs to keep their brand alive, it has ironically become popular enough to launch a sprawling cinematic universe of its own. The Boys has a few spinoffs in development as it heads into the final season.

The primetime broadcast season makes a comeback this fall with new and returning series — some of which feature soap alums. For example, CBS is rolling out shows where everyone from leads to supporting characters to guest stars once caused a splash in the daytime realm on shows like Days of Our Lives, Passions, General Hospital, The Young and the Restless, All My Children, and As the World Turns.
6 Daytime Alums on CBS Primetime #1 Shemar Moore, S.W.A.T.
Soap Character: Malcolm Winters
Soap Opera: The Young and the Restless
Only former Shemar Moore could lead a show that gets canceled and then uncanceled. Ultimately, CBS couldn’t eliminate an intense cop drama that consistently brought viewers to its Friday night lineup. So Moore will be back playing Hondo, the leader of the 20-squad, for a 22-episode eighth season.

Entertainment Weekly has revealed that The Boys season 5 has tapped Daveed Diggs for a mystery role in the R-Rated Prime Video series.
The actor is best known for starring in Hamilton (which was already a hit but became a global phenomenon thanks to Disney+) and counts the likes of Snowpiercer, The Little Mermaid, and Velvet Buzzsaw among his many film and television roles.
This isn't the first time he's circled a superhero project as it's widely believed he was a frontrunner to play Ben Grimm/The Thing in Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps. That role ultimately went to Ebon Moss-Bachrach.
Diggs has also lent his voice to Amazon's Invincible as Theo, a member of a therapy group who lost their loved ones to superheroes.
As is so often the case, there's currently no word on who the actor is playing in The Boys. The series veered away from the comics some time ago,...

The Boys is regarded as one of the most brutal shows on television. It's gruesome, vulgar and edgy. Over the seasons, there's been so many crazy moments, with some episodes, such as the infamous "Herogasm," coming with content warnings in the beginning. Looking ahead to the fifth and final season, showrunner Eric Kripke wants fans to understand that nothing is off the table.
While it may seem like The Boys doesn't hold back, plot armor does weigh heavily on many of the characters. For instance, both Hughie and Billy Butcher should've died a long time ago, several times over. But for the final season, the show doesn't need to keep anyone alive. Prepare for the unexpected. But don't take it from me: showrunner Eric Kripke has issued a warning (or threat?) to fans by saying "there will probably be lots of death."

Jensen Ackles is the leading favorite among many to play the new Batman of James Gunn's DC Universe, and I believe that the actor has proved throughout his career that he would be the best man for the job. The last actor to play Batman as the lead version of the hero in a cinematic universe was Ben Affleck in the Dceu. Affleck and the rest of the cast from 2017's Justice League are reportedly out for the new Dcu. While I quite enjoyed Affleck's portrayal of Batman, I'm okay with the decision to change actors for the Dcu.
After all, Affleck was not even planned to be the main Batman of the Dceu anymore. Michael Keaton's return as the Dark Knight in 2023's The Flash was originally meant to lead to him taking over Affleck's place. Keaton's Bruce Wayne would have been a mentor to younger heroes.

An image posted to social media has turned the popular fan cast of Jensen Ackles as Batman on its head by imagining the DC voice actor as another superhero instead. Ackles is perhaps most well known for portraying Dean Winchester in Supernatural, but is already well-versed in DC productions after appearing as Jason Teague in Smallville and voicing Jason Todd and Batman in various animated productions. His experience with the animated version of Batman has caused many fans to call for his casting as the Caped Crusader in the Dcu.
Instagram user @multiversedc has posed an alternative casting choice in an image posted to social media, however - namely Hal Jordan's Green Lantern. The post also suggests that Aaron Pierre, who recently starred in Rebel Ridge and Genius, would be the best choice to cast as the Dcu's John Stewart. As pre-production on the fifth and final season of Prime Video's The Boys gets underway, we have word on a new Supe who will be joining the party before going on to have a larger role in the recently-announced Vought Rising spin-off show.
According to Nexus Point News, Fyboy will be introduced during season 5. As far as we know, this Supe doesn't appear in the comics, but there are numerous minor and supporting characters he could be based on.
Flyboy is described as: "A white man in his twenties to thirties who was once a charismatic combat pilot, but is now a junkie with a dark past. Although he’s haunted by the trauma of his past, he maintains his confidence in the presence of cameras."

Paul Grellong, executive producer of The Boys, will take on the role of showrunner, with Eric Kripke and the core creative team from The Boys franchise also contributing. The list of executive producers includes Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and several others.

If there's one thing the folks over at Amazon love more than a good series, it's a good series with real franchise potential. It's why we don't just have The__Boys, but also Gen V and the recently announced Vought Rising; and it's why we don't just have Citadel, but Citadel: Diana and Citadel: Honey Bunny too. Now, it's looking like the streamer's popular action-thriller show Reacher is next in line for a spin-off. According to Deadline's reporting, Neagley, a Prime Video show centred around — you guessed it! — fan favourite character Frances Neagley is nearing a green light, with Maria Sten expected to reprise her Reacher role.
Whilst Sgt. Frances Neagley has a less prominent part to play in Lee Child's Jack Reacher books, the character — a security expert and former 110th Special Investigations Unit compadre of Alan Ritchson's man-mountain Jack Reacher — has been pivotal to the show.

With A-Train officially exiting the Seven, Vought International is without one of their most famous supes, and The Boys has already revealed how the organization will cover this up in season 5. Despite remaining loyal to Vought for the first three seasons and squandering various opportunities at redemption, A-Train finally followed a better path in season 4 and left the superhero group behind. Not only was he one of The Seven's original members when the show started, but A-Train is also one of The Boys' strongest characters, meaning his absence from Vought will be a huge deal in season 5.

The Boys universe is expanding with new spin-offs like Vought Rising set to showcase early super-powered characters. Vought Rising may introduce Stormfront's daughter, Chloe, but must avoid humanizing the terrible villain too much. Prequels risk softening major villains, altering the perception of antagonists and damaging the impact of the original show.
With The Boys approaching its final season, the universe of their stories is expanding with new spin-offs like Vought Rising, but the show may have an interesting challenge introducing one character. The Boys has always put super-powered people under a microscope that attempts to go beyond the superficial superhero found in most comic book movies. And this has led to a wide variety of supes who have significant flaws, and pretty unlikable personalities.

The Boys Season 4 Streaming Numbers Revealed, Sets Multiple Viewership Records Ahead Of Final Season
The Boys has taken No. 1 on the Nielsen streaming chart for the first time. Additionally, it has broken multiple records for a Prime Video show. Although the flagship series is ending, this result shows that the franchise should keep going strong after its conclusion.

The Boys season 3's Herogasm arc fell short of expectations, focusing more on fights than the provocative supe orgy event. Vought Rising, the upcoming prequel to The Boys, has a chance to revisit and portray Herogasm in a more true-to-comic manner. Vought Rising should balance graphic aspects of the comic with what's suitable for the screen, potentially pushing boundaries further.
The Boys season 3's most disappointing arc significantly weighed it down, but the show's 1950s prequel has the perfect opportunity to rectify its biggest mistake. Loosely based on Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson's comic book series of the same name, Amazon's The Boys only borrows some foundational ideas from the original comic books but drifts far away from many of its story elements. Given how the show has consistently landed in critics' good books and is also among Amazon's most profitable IPs, drifting away from comic books has clearly benefited it in several ways.

Under the new two-year pact with Sony TV, Grellong will continue as an exec producer on The Boys and as EP/showrunner on Vought Rising. He will also continue to develop projects for the independent studio targeting streaming and network platforms.
This marks Grellong’s third consecutive overall deal at Sony TV. His partnership with the studio dates back to 2019 when, in only his second stab at TV development, he created The Hill, a drama about media and politics, which sold to NBC. He...

Jensen Ackles is dominating Prime Video with upcoming shows as Soldier Boy in The Boys season 5 and Vought Rising prequel. Ackles' absence in The Boys season 4 sets up his return in season 5 and a promising stand-alone series, Countdown. Ackles' network TV success in shows like Supernatural paved the way for his streaming dominance with Amazon Prime Video.
Considering his long line of upcoming TV shows, Jensen Ackles is starting to become the king of Prime Video, and I am not complaining because nearly everything he stars in is worth watching. Although Jensen Ackles has been active as an actor since 1996, he did not taste mainstream success until he starred as one of the two leads of the WB series Supernatural. In recent years, he has garnered more recognition for voicing and also playing superhero characters on the small screen, with his most prominent role in Prime Video's The Boys.

"Vought Rising" prequel expands "The Boys" universe with 1950s story featuring popular supes Soldier Boy and Stormfront. Exciting potential for "Vought Rising" to connect with "Gen V" through appearances of Frederick Vought and Thomas Godolkin. Prequel could reveal origins of Godolkin University, solving mysteries from "Gen V" and expanding "The Boys" world.
A new The Boys prequel series titled Vought Rising is in the works, and the upcoming series could set up a perfect connection to Gen V. The Boys universe has expanded immensely in recent years, with The Boys Presents: Diabolical giving some insight into stranger corners of the franchise while Gen V explored the world of Godolkin University. The Boys is once again growing its world with the release of Vought Rising, and while the series is exciting for many reasons, one of the most interesting parts of the show is how it could connect to Gen V.

The Boys' timeline is complex, with spinoffs like Vought Rising set in the 1950s, expanding on key character storylines and the universe. Each season is generally set around its release year, connecting the show's realism with viewer excitement and familiarity with the premise. Spinoffs like Gen V and Diabolical weave their narratives into the main show, adding depth and complexity to the overall universe.
Since The Boys began in 2019, the dark superhero satire show has expanded into a sprawling franchise, but not all the spinoffs cover the same period within the fictional universe. The franchise's timeline has some important milestones that are used to navigate it, like when Billy Butcher gained Supe powers in The Boys season 3, and the debut of key new characters like Jenson Ackles' Soldier Boy. However, the story has now been split between various shows to create an intertwined narrative, but there are clues in each...
