A new game is afoot in this modern-day medical mystery drama. Dr. John Watson (Morris Chestnut), the onetime partner of the famous Sherlock, is grieving the sleuth’s recent murder at the hands of his nemesis Moriarty. Watson dives into a distracting and intriguing new gig, treating rare diseases at the Holmes Clinic with the help of four quirky newbie docs. “We’re not just doctors. We’re not just detectives. We are ‘doc-tectives,’” says Chestnut, who’s played plenty of MDs including the titular Miami pathologist on Rosewood. “That’s where our show is different than a lot of primarily straight-line medical dramas or straight-line detective dramas. It’s a combination of both.” It’s also a thriller. Little does Watson know, Moriarty is lurking nearby and has his sights set on the doc. Below, Watson‘s Chestnut clues us in. What makes Watson tick? Morris Chestnut: Watson genuinely...

Watson looks like it's going to be a fantastic mix of genres for CBS and here's what to know about it!
There have been scores of TV shows based on Sherlock Holmes, including CBS's own Elementary, starring Jonny Lee Miller as a modern version of the iconic detective. This take was interesting with Lucy Liu as Joan Watson, a very capable assistant to Sherlock and a good detective in her own right.
Now, CBS is going back to the well with the upcoming Watson which looks like an interesting mix of the Holmes mythos and the Fox series House (which makes sense as Holmes inspired that). The first trailer hints at the great mixing of medical and crime drama that should make this a standout show!
What is Watson about?
The show takes place months after the apparent death of Sherlock Holmes as John Watson (Morris Chestnut) is still in mourning.

Morris Chestnut, the latest star to join Hulu-Onyx Collective’s hit legal drama “Reasonable Doubt,” says he’d love to be a permanent addition to Jax Stewart’s (Emayatzy Corinealdi) bench.
“I would love to be,” the actor told TheWrap. “Without a doubt. Working with Raamla [Mohamed] and Emayatzy, the whole cast is incredible. Raamla writes a great script. I couldn’t wait to see what was going to be in the next script after I read the previous one. I would come back in a heartbeat.”
Chestnut steps into the courtroom as Corey Cash, the suave, media-savvy and extremely calculated defense attorney that Stewart needs to help her win her best friend’s murder case. However, his unique tactics could prove to be more dramatic than helpful.
And speaking of heartbeats, it looks like Corey might be making Jax’s (and fans’) beat a little harder. After the two characters...

“Perd Hapley is the lynchpin of an unlikely TV multiverse” is the name of the article you’re reading. And it will begin … right now.
NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation features the deepest bench of hilarious supporting characters you’ll ever see outside of The Simpsons‘ Springfield. Bob Lee Swagger remains one of the most badass television characters ever.
The USA Network series, Shooter, was one of the finest, coming at a time when the cable network ran supreme with endless content for everyone's viewing.
With slick action sequences, subterfuge, and adrenaline-pumping thrills, the series, more often than not, was a must-see summer show for three seasons until its unfortunate cancellation.
TV Fanatic followed along with the journey from beginning to end with full coverage in our Shooter Reviews. It is still a perfectly binge-able series that you can stream on Netflix, at least until June 21, when Netflix loses the rights for it.
It bolstered an impressive cast led by none other than Ryan Phillippe. But where is the cast now? Let's find out!
Jaina Lee Ortiz - Angela Tio
Ortiz had a small arc during Shooter Season 2, guest-starring as Angela Tio, a sergeant Bob Lee served with during the Marines.

Apple TV+”s The Big Door Prize comes armed with a deceptively simple elevator pitch. Based on a book of the same name by M.O. Walsh, this 10 episode series ponders “if a nondescript machine in a corner store promised to tell you your ultimate destiny, would you want to know it?”
At first, you might be thinking “sure, why not?” That concept is not markedly different from what a psychic or boardwalk fortune teller might guarantee. And in the case of the butterfly-branded “Morpho machine,” receiving your reading would actually be far cheaper at only $2. It’s all just fun and games, now who has four quarters?
But what if seemingly everyone in your small American town who utilized the Morpho machine appeared to be fundamentally changed by the experience? What if dozens of your peers completely rearranged the details of their lives to better fit its ultimate vision for them?...

On March 12, 2023, Ruth E. Carter won her second Academy Award for her work on the costumes of "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever." It was Carter's second Oscar win after 2018's "Black Panther," making her the first costumer in history to win Academy Awards for a movie and its sequel. Her wins are both well-deserved. Extrapolating from the fictional country originally found in the pages of Marvel Comics, "Wakanda Forever" constructed the clothes and uniforms worn by the citizens of a high-tech central African nation that, thanks to their access to a rare miracle metal and an equally rare super-powered flower, allowed them to advance centuries beyond the rest of the world. Carter designed the clothes for Wakandan royalty, the royal guard, and the country's civilians. She also had to evoke Wakandan funerary rights, as the film opens with the funeral of the original Black Panther. Carter has said that Wakandan dress...

The 2023 Grammy Awards took place on Sunday, February 5 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
Beyoncé led with the most nominations with nine in total while Kendrick Lamar received eight. Jay-Z earned five nominations, tying his wife, Beyoncé, for the most nominations in Grammys history at 88.
Beyoncé and the contemporary Christian music collective Maverick City Music each won the most awards with four trophies. Beyoncé’s four victories this year for Best Dance/Electronic Recording, Best Traditional R&b Performance, Best R&b Song and Best Dance/Electronic Music Album made her the artist with the most Grammy wins in history with 32.
However, Beyoncé failed to scoop up the night’s three major awards: Song of the Year (Bonnie Raitt‘s “Just Like That”), Record of the Year (Lizzo‘s “About Damn Time”) and Album of the Year (Harry Styles‘ Harry’s House).
Lizzo appeared visibly stunned by her win.

The first batch of winners at the 2023 Grammy Awards has been announced! The show is far from over, and Beyoncé has already become the most-awarded artist in the Recording Academy's history. Other performers are also cleaning up with exciting wins. This year's main event is, once again, hosted by Trevor Noah - who served as the Mc in 2021 and 2022 - who, in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, teased that it'll be "the most star-studded room the Grammys has been for many, many years."
The 2023 Grammy nominee pool was stacked with heavy-hitting artists. On Nov. 15, the Recording Academy revealed the 2023 nominations across all 91 categories, some of which were presented by past Grammy winners like Olivia Rodrigo, John Legend, and Machine Gun Kelly.

DC fans have been eagerly anticipating the return of Michael Keaton as Batman in ... well, he was supposed to appear in the canceled "Batgirl," but as far as we know right now, no one will get to look at that. All signs point to the release of "The Flash" — despite the troubling issues with its star Ezra Miller — where Keaton will don the suit of the caped crusader, but nothing is 100 percent right now. While some of us (me ... it's me) are praying to the comic book gods that Keaton's Batman will indeed return, we do have something of his to look forward to.
Michael Keaton will be making his directorial debut in the upcoming noir thriller "Knox Goes Away," which he will also star in. Principal photography has already wrapped on the film, according to Deadline. He's got some drama-heavy hitters involved, including Al Pacino, but also comedy stars like the brilliant Suzy Nakamura.

We’ll be honest, when HBO Max announced plans to revive Pretty Little Liars with Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, there was some serious apprehension. Would it be just a Riverdale 2.0? Would it be as stylish as the ABC Family/Freeform hit? Was it even needed? Turns out, no, no, and yes! It became clear right from that Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin was nothing like the CW hit Aguirre-Sacasa unleashed, aside from the fact that it was about teenagers and people frequently died. Its July premiere instantly proved also that these Liars weren’t the fashion plates of Rosewood and that they were in fact necessary proof that one could take a popular and beloved IP like Pll and redesign it while also honoring the original. In this case, the renovation took the addictive idea from soapy teen thriller to flat-out horror flick. Karolina Wojtasik/HBO Max Kicking off with a...

HBO Max is getting ready to try its hand at yet another spinoff of the popular Freeform teenage drama series "Pretty Little Liars," and the first look alone has sent chills down our spines. Could this be the first "Pll" spinoff that goes the distance?
Titled "Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin," the forthcoming reboot will follow a fresh bunch of Liars who scramble their way out of a series of troubles that befall them when an unknown Assailant - notoriously dubbed A - threatens to unearth their well-buried secrets. The original mystery drama, which adapts Sara Shepard's YA book series of the same name, ran on Freeform from 2010 to 2017. It spawned two failed spinoffs - 2013's "Ravenswood" and its 2019 follow-up, "Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists" - both of which were canceled after one season. Since the previous two shows in the Pretty Little Liars universe have direct ties with the parent series,...

Tommy Morgan, a harmonica soloist who contributed to hundreds of movie and TV shows including “Roots” and “Dances With Wolves,” died June 23. He was 89.
Morgan played on film soundtracks and record dates going back to the early 1950s. His estimated 7,000 recording sessions, according to statistics on his website, suggest that more people have heard his harmonica work than that of any other player of the instrument.
That’s Morgan’s harmonica on Quincy Jones’ “Sanford and Son” theme, Mike Post’s “Rockford Files” theme and the scores for numerous shows including “Maverick,” “The Waltons,” “The Dukes of Hazzard,” “China Beach,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Family Guy.”
He played on the Emmy-winning score for “Roots” and its sequel, “Roots: The Next Generations.” And his bass harmonica was the signature sound of Arnold Ziffel, the pig on “Green Acres.”
In addition, Morgan played on dozens of classic films including “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers,...

Comedian and social media star Tamera “Tee” Kissen has been cast opposite Jack Harlow in the remake of 1992 Wesley Snipes/Woody Harrelson comedy “White Men Can’t Jump,” Variety can exclusively reveal.
The remake has been in the works since 2017 when it first emerged “Black-ish” creator Kenya Barris and Doug Hall were working on a script rebooting the film.
Earlier this year it was revealed Jack Harlow had been cast, marking the rapper’s feature film debut, playing the role Harrelson originated. Snipes’ part has yet to be cast. Charles Kidd II, known professionally as Calmatic, is set to direct.
The original film, which was written and directed by Ron Shelton, tells the story of two street basketballers who get off to a bad start before eventually teaming up.
Kissen, who has appeared on MTV’s “Wild N’ Out,” will play “Sheila” in the pic, a role that wasn’t in the original.

Just a decade after the release of his 1991 classic debut "Boyz N The Hood," John Singleton began to work pretty much exclusively on action films, devising his own slick, polished style for franchise sequels like 2000's "Shaft" and 2003's "2 Fast 2 Furious." The social issue dramas on which his career had been built, movies with richness and depth like "Poetic Justice" or the unjustly ignored hate-crime saga "Rosewood," were left behind. Singleton's strength as a filmmaker meant that he was continuing to direct movies with immediacy, motion, and a clear point-of-view inspired by past films and his own observations on life. Critic Roger...

The NBC drama pilot “Found” has cast Kelli Williams, Variety has learned exclusively.
Williams joins previously announced series lead Shanola Hampton in the project along with fellow cast member Mark-Paul Gosselaar.
The show is built around the fact that, in any given year, more than 600,000 people are reported missing in the U.S. More than half that number are people of color that the country seems to forget about. Public relations specialist Gabi Mosley (Hampton) — who was once herself one of those forgotten ones — and her crisis management team now make sure there is always someone looking out for the forgotten missing people. But unbeknownst to anyone, this everyday hero is hiding a chilling secret of her own.
Williams will star in the pilot as Margaret Reed. A keen observer of human behavior, Margaret is a crisis manager at Mosley and Associates, and the mother figure to her whole team of associates.

A “feel-good” medical procedural from Michael Strahan, Constance Schwartz-Morini and “The Resident” executive producer Marc Halsey is in development at ABC, Variety has learned.
Titled “The Front Line,” the potential series is centered around Sebastian “Bass” Clark, a professional athlete-turned-doctor who left the front line of the football field to start over on the front lines of healthcare as a medical resident — a transition that a handful of real-life NFL players have actually made. The project follows Bass and an ensemble of doctors and staff at a prestigious Pittsburgh hospital as they navigate high-stakes medical cases with all the adrenaline, warmth and big-heartedness of a great sports movie.
Written and executive produced by Halsey, the drama has received a script commitment from the network. Additional executive producers include Strahan, Schwartz-Morini and Thea Mann through their Smac Entertainment banner.
“The Front Lane” hails from ABC Signature.
Currently an executive producer on Fox’s “The Resident,...
