Spring Awakening has several coincidental ties. Both Skylar Astin (Mr. Healy) and Austin McKenzie (Howie) have been in a production of Spring Awakening. Astin originated the role of Georg alongside Lea Michele and Jonathan Groff, and McKenzie starred as Melchior in Deaf West LA's production. Also, Gideon Glick, who played Howie in the stage production of this story, originated the role of Ernst in the Broadway production of Spring Awakening, alongside Astin.
