Riverdale. Just the word alone was enough to start a conversation between friends that could last the whole day, week, or even month as they attempted to dissect the meaning behind everything going on in that strange, strange town. And no matter how long it took, no answers would come. For the bizarre creation that was Riverdale would keep us all guessing.
The Archie Comics-inspired TV series first premiered on The CW in 2017 and was rather successful for the network, earning a prompt season 2 renewal, but it was its arrival on Netflix (both domestically and worldwide) that turned it into an overnight, global phenomenon. For all of Elsbeth‘s amazing aspects and layers, romance is the one facet of the storytelling that always seems to be missing.
Sure, the series has crimes of passion, but that’s more about tragic love endings. We’re here to talk about the more whimsical side of intimacy that matches our pastel-colored protagonist.
You’d think the titular character would be on the prowl looking for a partner, if for no other reason than to always have someone around to talk to.
(Michele Crowe/CBS)
Sadly, Elsbeth seems to have resigned herself to the idea that she is going to be a spinster whose purpose is to make everyone else’s lives pinker.
This is why it’s a shock that she hasn’t taken advantage of these firemen who can’t seem to get enough of the red-headed beauty. Seriously, how are we just now finding out...

Did anyone else expect this to be a different kind of Fire Country episode? I know the promos are meant to incite anticipation, but the one for “My Team” is all lies at this point.
In fact, this episode contained a number of misleads, and while we’ll get to those, there was still a lot about the story that worked.
This season of Fire Country has gone above and beyond to craft better episodic tales that feel less about the shock value and more about how each situation changes the characters.
(Sergei Bachlakov/CBS)
Gabriela was the first character to see significant improvement and growth, with her character currently on a journey of self-discovery. Now, it’s Bode’s turn.
Edgewater Has Not Exactly Been the Most Gracious to Its Hometown Hero

We see recasts pretty regularly on the big screen. For some franchises like Friday the 13th and Halloween, it’s almost a tradition. It’s less common in a non-genre arena. However, other major films have seen some of their important characters get recast for various reasons… and keep in mind that we’re only talking about movies here, not TV shows, so you won’t hear about Michiel Huisman replacing Ed Skrein as Daario Naharis on Game of Thrones, Charles Melton replacing Ross Butler on Riverdale, Liam Hemsworth replacing Henry Cavill on The Witcher, Janet Hubert being switched with Daphne Maxwell Reid as Aunt Vivian Banks on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Nathan Parsons replacing Luke Grimes as James Kent on True Blood, Alessandra Torresani being replaced by Mae Whitman on Arrested Development, or Jeff the cab driver being recast in the final season of Better Call Saul. Anthony Michael Hall has spent his career pursuing roles that allowed him to empathize with all kinds of characters. He’s always looking for that depth, that drive — that hook that inspires him to dig his teeth into a script, and defy expectations — and to prove he’s much more than the nerd from ’80s Brat Pack movies like “The Breakfast Club” and “Sixteen Candles.”
His newest role is playing an arms dealer on the third season of “Reacher,” the hit Amazon Prime Video show about an ex-military police drifter who travels the United States, busting up increasingly outsized criminal enterprises. For any actor, “Reacher” is a huge platform, but Hall was laser-focused on the complexity of his character, Zachary Beck, who poses as a humble rug importer.
“It’s a very rich character,” he says. “He has a cover for his life, and is operating within this framework of a criminal network.

The James Bond franchise is now in the hands of Amazon MGM Studios following the transfer of creative control from Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson on Thursday. And that means there’s room for a new Agent 007.
The role has been held by actors including Sean Connery, Pierce Brosnan and the longest-running James Bond actor, Daniel Craig. The charming spy remains one of the most iconic characters in television and cinema. That’s why finding the right person to play 007 is no easy mission. But we’re helping Hollywood out with the search by listing the actors we think are perfectly suited for the task.
Not only did we name them, we are also showing you images of the blokes in their best tuxes or suits. Check out the list below.

“Reacher” is back.
Based on the book series by Lee Child, the Prime Video series once again finds our titular hero (Alan Ritchson) getting off the bus and getting into trouble. This time he is in Maine, recruited by local DEA agents looking to bust a bad guy – and get back an informant who has gone missing. And wouldn’t you know it, this seemingly random encounter ties back to a case from Reacher’s past?
If you want to know more about this season, we will happily delve deep into the colorful cast of Season 3 characters.

Debates can be had over whether certain actors “count” as members of the Brat Pack, a label applied to a certain subset of young actors who all came of age in the 1980s. Molly Ringwald is without question one of them, but she’s not a fan of the term. “I think it kind of in a way sort of minimized the work that we were doing. I mean that’s the way that I felt,” she said on a recent reunion panel for The Breakfast Club at MegaCon Orlando.
NME reports that the now-veteran actor called the Brat Pack term “a pejorative,” one that proved hard for those actors to escape over the years since New York Magazine writer David Blum coined it for a 1985 feature.
This isn’t the first time someone dubbed a member of the Brat Pack has spoken out about the term’s effects on...

The late David Lynch is one of Hollywood's most influential surrealist filmmakers. From "Eraserhead" to "Blue Velvet" to "Mulholland Drive," his work explores everything from the horror of parenting to the darkest underbellies of America in a way that's unmistakably, well, "Lynchian." However, while most of Lynch's work is dark and horrific -- as evidenced by the time he directed the single greatest jump scare in history -- it's often punctuated by moments of absurdist humor. Unfortunately, his first attempt at making an out-and-out sitcom didn't work out as well as he probably hoped, but "On the Air" is an interesting outlier in his oeuvre.
After Lynch changed television forever with "Twin Peaks" (a show whose influence can be found in everything from "Lost" to "Riverdale"), he and Mark Frost teamed up again for this short-lived comedy about the entertainment industry. "On the Air" centers around the cast and...

You know what they say: If at first you don't succeed, just make another live-action adaptation of a beloved cartoon (and toy line) and cast as perfect a leading man as you'll ever find. Fans of the "Masters of the Universe" franchise might as well have invented the definition of "long-suffering," doomed to wait decades to see any attempt to make another film come to fruition since the 1987 "Masters of the Universe" movie oddity that we're still talking about to this day. Well, that patience might just be about to pay off in a big way.

Black Bear is launching Bad Boy, a new breed of genre film that charts a young woman’s fight to escape a deadly serial killer through the eyes of man’s best friend, his faithful dog. There have been plenty of kids films and some dramas told from an animal’s perspective, but not many horror films.
From the producer of Longlegs, Dave Caplan, and M3gan, Divide/Conquer’s Adam Hendricks and Greg Gilreath, the film is set to star Oscar-winner Ke Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere All At Once) and Lili Reinhart (Hustlers). Genre director Jacob Chase will direct Travis Braun’s Black List-topping script. Dave Caplan’s company C2 will also fully finance. Filming is due to start in August in Canada.

On one level, the return of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” with Sarah Michelle Gellar — the news of which Variety broke today — is the most 2020s thing that could happen. Updating a beloved TV series from the last four decades with at least some of the original cast has become a central pillar of our current popular culture. From “And Just Like That” on Max to “That ’90s Show” on Netflix to “Star Trek: Picard,” “Frasier” and whatever new version of “Dexter” is streaming on Paramount+, we’re habitually invited now to live in updated versions of our TV pasts.
A new “Buffy,” however, feels more totemic. There are all the TV history reasons, of course: Dismissed when it premiered on the nascent network The WB in 1997 as a mid-season replacement, “Buffy” rapidly roundhouse kicked itself into the vanguard of both television form and content. 13 Reasons Why definitely wasn't a perfect show. There are some storylines that were not handled in the best way. At least, that's the general consensus among viewers. However, season 1 really was exceptional, different, and made you think about the way you treat people and how that could effect them.
The series also highlighted many mental health troubles teens go through, especially in the digital age. If you miss the teen drama and are looking for something similar to watch, here's 4 shows like 13 Reasons Why to watch right now.

Filming for Scream 7 got underway earlier this month, and casting news continues to trickle in. Most recently, Deadline confirmed that morning talk show host Mark Consuelos has joined, although details regarding his character are being kept under wraps.
But that hasn't stopped rumors and speculation from circulating online. The rumor mill is ever-churning, saying that Consuelos might be playing a character devised as a rival to Gale Weathers. Note that this rumor stems from unverified sources on social media and is, so far, completely unsubstantiated. Courteney Cox previously confirmed her return alongside Neve Campbell, who reprises her role as final girl Sidney Prescott.
Consuelos is best known for co-hosting Live with Kelly and Mark alongside his wife, Kelly Ripa. He started his career as an actor on the soap opera All My Children. Since then, he's starred in TV series like Riverdale and The Girls on the Bus. He...

Spyglass Media and Paramount Pictures once intended to make a Scream 7 that would have starred Scream (2022) and Scream VI leads Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega, with Freaky and Happy Death Day director Christopher Landon at the helm. But then Ortega allegedly asked for a substantial pay raise – and as we saw when Neve Campbell dropped out of Scream VI due to a pay dispute, these pay issues don’t tend to work out. Then Barrera was fired from the project after comments she made about the Israel-Hamas war didn’t go over well with executives at Spyglass. Landon dropped out the of the project soon after. So Scream 7 has been re-developed, Campbell has signed on to return as franchise heroine Sidney Prescott, back in the lead role, while Kevin Williamson, who wrote the screenplay for the original Scream, directs the film from a screenplay by 2022’s Scream...

‘Scream 7’ is one of the most highly awaited upcoming horrors. The movie had a difficult production so far. The movie was reworked after directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett left in August 2023, followed by the departure of stars Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega in November.
Neve Campbell confirmed her return to the franchise in March 2024 after missing ‘Scream VI.’ Kevin Williamson, a writer and producer from the early ‘Scream’ films, was brought on as director.
The plot is still a secret, but Neve Campbell revealed the new movie will focus on Sidney and her family, shifting back from the Carpenter sisters seen in ‘Scream’ released in 2022 and ‘Scream 6’ released in 2023.
Now Deadline reports that Mark Consuelos has joined the cast of the upcoming movie. Consuelos is best known for his role as Mateo Santos on the soap opera ‘All My Children,’ where he became a fan favorite. He also starred alongside his wife,...

When Goosebumps came out in 2023, everybody expected a second season, but little did we know that it would be an anthological second season with nothing fresh to bring to the table. The second season looks like it took a few too many pages from Netflix’s Stranger Things and not in a good way. Everything from the set-up to the CGI looks derivative, which is quite sad seeing the direction teen dramedies are taking today. The show follows Anthony, played by David Schwimmer, a botanist who lost his brother back in 1994. Anthony is still stuck on the past while he’s currently divorced and has to spend some time with his teen twins in the summer of 2024. Cece and Devin have an awkward relationship with their dad, and while Cece is the perfect sibling, Devin’s the “maybe he’ll grow up soon” one. I want to say that less...

Reggie Mantle is a major supporting character in Riverdale, having a role across all seven seasons of the show. Originally created back in 1942, Reggie served as the rival to Archie Andrews in the Archie Comics, and the two would essentially be frenemies for a large portion of their comic book history. When it comes to the live-action Riverdale adaption that began in 2017, the show leaned on that rivalry, with Reggie largely acting as an antagonistic force to Archie through the first season.
Reggie grew over the course of the series, becoming a much more positive character throughout Riverdale's seven seasons. While most of the characters in Riverdale change and grow in a number of ways, Reggie Mantle did so in a much different fashion. One of the biggest changes to Reggie came after season 1, and forever changed the character for the rest of the series.

We’ve got our first look at Wild Cards Season 2, as the trailer hints at the great action to come!
For those who missed it in 2024, Wild Cards is a Canadian TV show originally airing on the CBC network. The CW acquired it to air, aided by how star Vanessa Morgan had starred in the network’s long-running hit Riverdale.
The plot is a classic one for a caper show. Max Mitchell (Morgan) is a con artist, albeit one with a moral code. She’s busted by the cops and arrested by Cole Ellis (Giacomo Gianniotti), a former top homicide detective, until he was busted down to boat patrol after being framed for having drugs.
Max manages to cut a deal with the cops and uses her skills to help catch other crooks, with the condition that Cole is her handler. Season 1 had the pair working together, aided by Max’s father,...

You must be well-versed with the idiom—too many cooks spoil the broth—well, it’s somewhat similar when it comes to the entertainment industry, where churning too many sequels and spinoffs happens to spoil the franchise. And we fear that the same fate might befall Cillian Murphy’s legacy as Tommy Shelby.
A still from Peaky Blinders | image: Netflix
In the industry where production companies are milking too many films and shows with unnecessary sequels and spinoffs for the sole purpose of a quick buck, even Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight seems to be jumping the shark. While Knight is currently working on a period drama about the rise of a Birmingham crime family following World War I, he said that the upcoming movie might not be the end of the franchise.

Growing from a teen drama to a full-fledged TV institution across its six seasons on the air thus far, All American is one of the CW's biggest series, and it is set to return for season 7. Beginning in 2018, the sports drama follows Spencer James, a promising high-school athlete who is recruited from South Crenshaw High to the prestigious Beverly Hills High School to play football. Over the show's run, the story has grown and evolved as Spencer struggles with the culture clash of his new life, while also balancing his complicated personal life off the gridiron.

The Christmas movie sensation of 2024 isn't "Red One," nor is it any of the other non-Christmasy holiday releases like "Wicked," "Gladiator II" or "Moana 2." Okay, it might be "Hot Frosty." But if it's not "Hot Frosty," it's most assuredly Jaume Collet-Serra's crackerjack action-thriller "Carry-On." Currently streaming on Netflix, "Carry-On" is an unabashed B-movie -- Collet-Serra's speciality dating back to programmers like "House of Wax" and "Orphan" -- that harkens back to the '80s and '90s era of tightly paced and constructed action flicks like "Die Hard," "Under Siege," and "Speed." These films weren't mega-budget blowouts, but they did have studio-level production value. There were no corners being cut, and no dodgy CGI; you always had the sense that you were watching a big movie made with professional pride. And best of all, you didn't have to plunge into a series of books to get acquainted with the films' larger mythology.

Hallmark is known for having a pretty reliable stable of artists. Once an actor has starred in one of the many Hallmark Christmas movies out there, chances are, you'll start to see them over and over again. With so many major roles coming up, it's easy to forget that Melton wasn't even the first choice to play Reggie Mantle on "Riverdale," the role that began his onscreen ascension.
In the show's first season, Reggie was played by Ross Butler, a veteran of teen drama shows who left "Riverdale" to focus more on his "13 Reasons Why" role as Zach Dempsey. "We love what Ross did with the role of Reggie [this season], but because of his commitments to other projects,...
