The premiere marathon of Joe Bob Briggs Last Drive-In on Shudder was such a huge success, AMC servers for Shudder and Sundance Now crashed 15 minutes before the launch time. The servers remained down for an entire weekend. Most fans wanting to see the return of Joe Bob Briggs had to wait till the marathon was loaded on the Shudder website as individual episodes.
It's implied that the show is being transmitted through a live feed, but it's actually prerecorded.
The show began as a one-time 24-hour live-streamed marathon on Shudder. It ultimately ran over 26-hours and was so successful that it crashed the site's servers. Joe Bob returned to host shorter Thanksgiving and Christmas marathons, and finally, weekly double-features.
Diana Prince (Darcy the Mail Girl) resides in California and has to commute to Texas, where the show is shot.
While the original marathon was produced as a Shudder original, only the first couple of episodes is available to watch on Shudder. The remaining episodes of the original marathon can only be watched as of now (August 12th 2021) with an AMC+ subscription.
