The Truth

1 review
2/10

Boring and insipid like most French dramas!

You call this entertainment?! The story is uninteresting and so are the characters. What's up with Catherine Deneuve at 76 looking a lot younger than Juliette Binoche, who was barely 55 here? They both smoke like chimneys!

A little blonde blue eyed girl brags that she's an actress. You can't help but be painfully aware that she's not acting in this film, she's just being herself, a kid and saying silly stuff. Then you imagine this snotty little tart bragging to her classmates that she's an "actrice"!

This isn't a movie. It's some idiot going around with a camera filming other idiots. This isn't poetic, nor stylistic nor anything of any substance. Who cares?! You want drama: take a look in the mirror and at your own life. Or maybe your checkbook!

For the rest, most people, elitist American snobs, who brag about enjoying movies spoken in French perhaps don't know this: there are severa different levels of the French language. This was spoken in, not the most vulgar insofar as words go, but with truly crass with gross inflections, the kind of gross language a druggy would address another in French. The gorgeous spoken French is hardly heard anymore. Granted, there's a lot worse with the crude bad words and this wasn't it. Nevertheless, this was bargain basement French inflections. IOW, sounding like lower class commoners from France. Nothing to be admired here nor to aspire to.

Why does Juliette Binoche look so old? We'll guess fillers and face lifts kept Deneuve all "taut". 2/10 because the language could have been this much worse. Thankful for that, I guess.
