The ending ruins all the good works of 90 minutes.'The Damned' is the horror that I want. No bloodshed, no ghosts, no jump scare. Pure talent of the script and the direction. I did not get jump scared, but I had a hard time breathing because of the tension and the stress the movie gave me. The mystery and the unknown part feel scarier than gory murder scenes for sure. The setting and the location are perfect to capture the isolation in the wilderness. The wide ocean, the steep ranges, and the land of ice deliver the sense of 'There is no way out' constantly.
I also love the contrast of night and day. During the day, wherever you look around, all you see is white. At night, the lighting of candles shaking in the darkness enhances the mysterious and edgy atmosphere. Acting of Young and Cole is complimentable and delightful. It's a little surprising that it's the first time to see them leading the feature film. I'm really sad that all these merits are buried deep and not mentioned because of a bad ending. 'The Damned' does not deserve this much hate, but it kind of does at the same time.

'Babygirl' is animalistic, raw, and sensual. I heard so many bad things before the movie, but it is surprisingly better than expected. It's hard to grasp for sure, and almost all sex scenes are discomforting. I mean, come on. It's a sexual scene, and Samuel treats Romy exactly as he treats a dog. It's not just one scene. Throughout the movie, it keeps implying that Romy WANTS TO be treated like an inferior and humiliated. At the same time, she's a successful woman in the business world and a role model figure. This gap is effectively and persistently described. Plot organization is strong. The music is sexy.
However, Nicole Kidman's face and acting. She really should stop with botox. Her face is awkward for two hours. She keeps whispering with her lips forward as if she's about to kiss in every single scene.
