  • More of a spy movie that just might happen to have a Flying Saucer.

Saucers, saucers everywhere. Here a saucer, there a saucer; everywhere a saucer. It is the 1950s, so we, of course, are paranoid of the Ruskies. If the Ruskies think there are actual saucers, then it must not be theirs, but we need to be sure.

We cannot have them thinking that we are thinking about saucers, as even in Alaska, government agents are foreigners and stand out. The solution is to send Alaskan playboy Mike Trent (Mikel Conrad) and his trusty nurse Vee Langley (Pat Garrison). No one would ever suspect that they had saucers on their mind.

Will they find their quarry or get lost in the scenery and maybe each other? One thing we learn is that Alaska is quite hot. T-shirts and skimpy swimsuits. Beware of all Hans (Hantz von Teuffen) on deck.

Well, you get the idea, so best watch to find if there really is a saucer and if so, who will find it. That might not be healthy.

The film is in black and white. The acting is a bit stilted. The dialogue, well, you get the idea. But it was one of the first Saucer movies.

  • A face that only a mother could love

Somewhere along the line, this critter has been remastered and is HD 1080p.

While drilling for copper in the forbidding tundra mountains of Lapland, they pull up a gooey piece of tail. Scientists just cannot leave it alone. So, an accidental thaw and "It's alive". They actually said that.

The crew contains an old fossil scientist with two flirty daughters. An American woman. A snotty U. S. General Grayson (Carl Ottosen). A service technician named Peterson (Dirch Passer) for comic relief, as if they needed comic relief. I heard that there were versions where Dirch Passer sings.

For time fillers we get a tour of 1961 Copenhagen. The place where they make Coca-Cola with sugar instead of corn and citric acid instead of phosphoric acid. We see the King's Castle, Amalienborg, and the Royal Guard. The Goddess Gefion fountain. The traffic! Including an air-cooled VW. Lots of bicycles. We get to go together to Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen, Denmark. We get to hear Birthe Wisborg sing "Tivoli Nights".

Now, back to the story. It was a dark and stormy night... Oh no, you are not getting the story out of me.

I will say Reptilicus has a sweet tooth for people in plaid shirts.

This is a formula movie, and it can hold its own against Japanese Monster movies.

If you survive this critter, your next ridiculous monster movie should be Pulgasari (1985)

  • Take in the experience as a whole.

Woodstock: Three Days That Defined a Generation S31. E9 Episode aired Aug 6, 2019.

There are a lot of commentaries on Woodstock. Some are more complete than others. Some with a slant or an ax to grind. This presentation, celebrating the 50th anniversary of Woodstock, 1969, by American Experience, is complete and neutral except for the title "Three Days that Defined a Generation."

Instead of just focusing on a few main musical personalities, this presentation covers almost everything from the concept to the end. There are even a few excursions to the outermost fringes of the Woodstock location. We get first-hand commentaries from people who have been there and done that. Too bad they did not show the people speaking.

By the end of the presentation, you feel that you have been there.

I was stationed 52 miles up the Hudson and had an opportunity to go to the fringes. I missed all the good stuff. Drove to it in a car that is "unsafe at any speed" with paisley carpeting.

By the way, this did not define my generation.
