Absolutely mindboggling beautiful. After watching Avatar 2, which to me seemed like an endless barrage of violence, shooting and blowing things up, Miniscule is the exact opposite. It simply oozes nature, beauty in small things, care and feelings. The link with the first movie is sublime, the script is wonderful as is the selection of music. Another 10/10 for Miniscule and a must watch for anyone who loves the mix of animation with real life footage. It's clear that only the French are able to lift the art of animation to its own, as yet to be superseded, level of greatness. Would have been an honor for any movie-maker to have been part of the production team that brought Miniscule 2 to the screen.
Just finished watching this show today, 20+ years after its release, and comparing it to the utter (Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc.) crap released today it should make anyone wonder what's happening in the world of cinema and story writing. Everything in this series just works. The casting is superb, the dark cinematography is stunning, the sets are inspiring, and being a spiritual being, the story is beautifully crafted. Clearly would have loved to see some more seasons, but I guess today's viewers would prefer seeing more remakes of Star Wars, and 3D versions of every Disney movie ever made. Yeah, sarcasm bites, and it's supposed to, but I guess the viewers themselves are to blame and no-one else. Anyways, hope to see some more productions like Carnivàle, and actually increased the rating for this almost perfect show from an 8 to a 9. Maybe HBO will get the hint... who shall say.
That's just hilarious. Yesterday, I rated Atlas, with a budget likely exceeding $100m, a 1 out of 10, and today I'm rating The Beautiful Game, with a budget likely just a tiny fraction of that (<5m), an 8 out of 10, and honestly, I don't even like soccer. The difference: great story, great -fun- actors, based on something real, no silly CGI effects (at least I didn't notice them), a nice contrast of emotions, a grand tour of Rome (where's my espresso machine), and an awesome music score too. Well, at these 2 hours made the 10 minutes of Atlas (what a total waste) bearable again. It should make anyone wonder if Holly-crap-wood will ever be able to escape the misery they're currently in, as clearly the UK is doing a lot better with their movies. Thoroughly enjoyed the weird wacky selection of characters, so thumbs up to whoever did the casting. Again, great movie, most definitely worthwhile watching, and there may even be the occasional tear.
