... well actually it may have been the worst of times. So no pun intended - certain things may feel outdated ... depending on when you watch it and also where you watch it (as in what molded your mindset) ... you may feel for the poor blonde woman (excellent as always: Michelle Pfeiffer) ... who is sweet and annoying at once .. also super good looking obviously, but that is a different story.

And before Dennis Haybert became famous in 24 (well for me and many other I suppose) he was a good actor too ... a nuanced performance ... a role that needed someone with gravitas ... someone who can pull off being sweet yet somewhat menacing (or a lot ... again depending on your view(s)).

There is still racism and with the current state of things .. this does not feel like just any other (road) movie ... unfortunately one is not surprised if this might happen more or less exactly like depicted here ... but let's not worry ourselves ... let's instead watch this as a warning sign and try t be better ... try to make an effort and help others ... if that feels like I offended you - it was not the intention. As the movies intention are pure too (assassination and all that included) ...

... you is what you might think of ... it is not exactly what I meant to write ... or is it? No pun intended either way of course. Minnie Driver - she is quite exceptional and teaming up with David Duchovny here ... who rode the X-Files wave quite hard I reckon. But back to her: I am surprised she was not that big in my mind ... and bigger in movies I reckon ... well she kind of was, but maybe not so much what I was watching back in the day.

She is someone you could fall in love over ... with. And she has her heart in the right place (again no pun intended) ... not just in this movie ... which has a lot of heart anyway. Good romantic movie ... with drama and everything needed to make it fresh and entertaining too.

No pun intended - Val Kilmer ... I understand if women were into him. He's quite handsome to say the least. And he can act too - which he is able to show off here. I had never seen this movie - and I am sure I would have enjoyed it. Maybe not as much as I did watching it now. It has its ups and downs, but has a stellar cast to make you forget about any flaws along the way.

The effects of the beginning to see may not entirely ... give us the picture it is supposed to give us (again no pun intended) ... but we understand what it means. The story is predictable .. but then again I am not sure I expected the ending or where it was heading. Life is not easy ... and this movie is showing us some of those obstacles.
