  • Today we share the results of an experimental program designed to assist researchers in verifying complex theoretical work, which we conducted ahead of the Annual ACM Symposium on Theory of Computing (STOC 2026). We leveraged inference scaling methods from an advanced version of Gemini 2.5 Deep Think to function as a rigorous collaborator for pre-submission paper review. The tool provided authors with constructive feedback on calculation errors and logical gaps within 24 hours of submission. The results were highly encouraging: - Over 80% of submitted papers opted-in for the AI review. - 97% of authors found the feedback helpful. - 97% expressed they would use the tool again for future submissions. This pilot demonstrates the potential for AI to augment the peer review process and support the theoretical computer science community. 2025 roundup, part 4 ✨ We're excited to look back at the introduction of Google Earth AI this year — our family of geospatial AI models and reasoning agents that provides users with actionable insights, grounded in real-world understanding. You Ask, The Earth Answers. Earth AI models power features used by billions, and provide actionable insights in Google Earth, Google Maps Platform, and Google Cloud. 🌏 Speed: Breakthroughs in understanding the Earth that previously required complex analytics and years of iteration are now made possible in a matter of minutes. 🌏 Seeing the whole picture: Geospatial Reasoning is a framework powered by Gemini that now lets AI automatically connect different Earth AI models — like weather forecasts, population maps and satellite imagery — to answer complex questions. 🌏 Real-world impact: From identifying vulnerable communities for public health interventions, to forecasting flood levels and targeting aid for hazard-affected villages, Earth AI is helping enterprises, nonprofits, and cities with everything from environmental monitoring to disaster response. This is how Google Earth AI drives better public health and business decisions worldwide. More about Google Earth AI: https://goo.gle/3KILmh6

2025 roundup, part 3 ✨ This year, our work at Google Quantum AI hit historic milestones, blending foundational physics and a step towards real-world applications. We are incredibly proud to celebrate our Chief Scientist of Quantum Hardware and 2025 Nobel Laureate in Physics, Michel Devoret. He was awarded this honor for his pioneering work in partnership with John Martinis and John Clarke on macroscopic quantum effects — the very foundation of our superconducting quantum chips today. Building on that legacy, our team achieved the first-ever verifiable quantum advantage on our Willow chip. With our Quantum Echoes algorithm, we completed a calculation that was 13,000x faster than the world's best supercomputers, delivering a verifiable result pointing to applications in chemistry and material science. As Michel says, it's a huge step towards making the quantum computer a truly useful tool. The path to fault-tolerant quantum computing is promising. • Google Quantum AI is partnering with the National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC) to provide UK researchers with access to the Willow quantum processor. To drive the field of quantum computing forward, this initiative supports the UK National Quantum Strategy by enabling advanced experiments in life sciences, chemistry, and physics. Learn more about the submission process below. ↓

Accelerating quantum science in the UK: NQCC and Google Quantum AI The National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC) and Google Quantum AI have announced a new initiative to expand UK researchers’ access to Google’s Willow quantum processor - marking an exciting step forward for the UK’s quantum ecosystem. Building on the UK-US Technology Prosperity Deal and the broader collaboration between Google Cloud and DSIT, this partnership directly supports the goals of the UK National Quantum Strategy. Together, we’re strengthening international collaboration and enabling cutting-edge work in quantum technologies and advanced computing. UK Science Minister Lord Vallance said:  "As Europe's leader when it comes to the quality and impact of our research, the UK already sets the pace globally when it comes to quantum R&D. Access to this new resource from Google will help keep Britain's quantum innovators at the cutting edge, bolstering their efforts to put quantum to work, in the design of new medicines, the shift to clean affordable energy, and more. All of this work is crucial to this Government's mission of national renewal." Call for proposals now open UK researchers and research consortia are invited to submit proposals for high-impact, forward-thinking projects that will leverage the state-of-the-art Willow processor to advance discovery in fields such as life sciences, chemistry, materials and fundamental physics. The successful research team will work closely with experts from Google to design and conduct their experiments, while the NQCC will make available its technical expertise in support of the project. The NQCC will also offer grants to fund researcher time for the successful UK research group. This initiative represents a pivotal moment for UK quantum research - accelerating progress toward quantum advantage and opening new doors for discovery.
