Taylor Swift secures the biggest opening week of 2025 so far with The Life of a Showgirl

Just three days into the Official Chart week and Taylor Swift has already secured the biggest opening week for an album in 2025 as she heads toward a fourth 14th UK Number 1 with The Life of a Showgirl.  

Despite only being released last Friday, Taylor's latest studio album has already reached an astonishing 304,000 chart units, smashing the numbers from her last album The Tortured Poets Department which achieved 270,000 units in its first full week last year.  

The 35-year-old has already enjoyed an impressive 2025 when in February, she surpassed Madonna to become the female artist with the most UK Number 1 albums, and now she is well on her way to extending her lead further.  

And to top it all off, The Tortured Poets Department soars ten places too midweek (29). 

A record-breaking week could very well be on the horizon for Taylor if she maintains this early momentum, with a second week in a row in which an artist may secure Number 1 in both Official Albums chart and Singles after Olivia Dean achieved the feat last Friday.

Behind Taylor, and following the 30th anniversary celebrations of (What's The Story) Morning Glory?, Oasis shoot up nine places so far into the Number 2 spot. 

Singer-songwriter James Morrison is on track to secure his highest-charting album since 2011's The Awakening with his newest offering, Fight Another Day (4). This would also be the Brit's fourth Top 5 record to date.  

Moreover, Scottish outfit Idlewild may also attain they're best chart placing since 2002's The Remote Part with their self-titled eleventh studio album (6).  

A week for the legends, Ash and Ad Astra is on course to secure the Northern Irish rockers their sixth Top 10 hit (7).  

Essex duo Good Neighbours and their debut album Blue Sky Mentality is set to pierce the Top 10 this week (9). Gaining virality in 2024 with their Official Chart Top 40 single Home, 2025 has continued to prove a promising year for Oli Fox and Scott Verrill.  

Northern indie stalwarts Starsailor's first ever live record Starsailor with Strings: Live from Liverpool is on track to secure the bands highest-charting album in almost 20 years (13), since 2005's On The Outside.  

Fresh off the back of his sold-out O2 show at the weekend, Irish DJ/producer KETTAMA, real name Evan Campbell, may earn his UK Official Albums Chart debut (16) with Archangel.  

Possibly on their way to a fourth Top 20 album is English alternative rockers Deaf Havana with We're Never Getting Out (19).  

As internet rumours circulate of Taylor Swift's "diss track" Actually Romantic potentially being a response to Charli xcx's song Sympathy Is A Knife, the British singer's 2024 album BRAT rockets nine places midweek (24). 

The legendary Daniel O'Donnell continues to impress as his latest issue Now and Then could pick-up the prolific Irish singer a 44th UK Top 40 album.  

Following the announcement of his blockbuster UK and Ireland tour next year, the soulful Teddy Swims finds I've Tried Everything But Therapy returning to the midweek UK Top 40, jumping up nine places (32).  

Brooklyn-based group Say She She find Cut & Rewind currently sitting in the midweek Top 40, potentially marking their maiden UK chart outing (34).  

And finally, North London prospect Louis Dunford's deluxe version of his debut studio album Be Lucky starts out at Number 40.
