This letter is a recommendation from Esmere Litz's theatre teacher for admission to a program. The teacher describes Esmere as a highly motivated student who is graduating from a rigorous academy program while taking honors and AP courses. As a theatre student, Esmere fully commits to any role or task and recently understudied for 12 roles in a fall production, learning each character. Esmere also helped build the set and was involved in multiple aspects of the production beyond acting. The teacher believes Esmere would benefit from the program and be a delightful addition.

To Admissions:
I am happy to write on behalf of Miss Esmere Litz who is seeking admission into your program. 20152016 marks the third year I have known Esmere. I had her as a student in my Technical Theatre and
Acting III classes, as well as worked with her on after school productions.
As you can see from her records, Esmere is a highly motivated student who is not only graduating from a
rigorous academy program, but has been enrolled in Honors and/or AP courses throughout her high
school career. She has also been consistently involved with after school activities as well as serving her
community.
However, and more importantly, I would like to tell you about the Esmere that you cant see from her
records. Esmere has proven to be the kind of theatre student our program has been lucky to have. She
is a bright, creative, well-rounded and articulate student who will take on any role, position or task
assigned to her with 100% commitment and dedication. We just closed our fall production of Twelve
Angry Jurors adapted by Sherman Sergal, where she was cast in the bit role of Guard. Additionally, I
assigned her the job of understudy for all twelve of the juror roles. When there was an absence at a
rehearsal, Esmere filled in. She took full advantage of the assignment of understudy and used every
opportunity to fully develop her character for whichever juror role she was stepping in for that day. She
immersed herself in the process of working on multiple roles, and genuinely enjoyed working on her
craft. She understood it was not likely she would perform in front of an audience in a role other than
Guard, and that did not matter to her.
Aside from her dedication to the performance aspects of the production, Esmere was instrumental in
getting the set built for this show. She embraced every step of the process from hauling lumber, building
a 15x4 jury table and installing flats, to mixing paint and concealing wood seams with masking tape.
Esmere is one who understands that theatre is collaboration and she gets involved in as many aspects as
she can. This has been true for the three years I have known her. If she is not cast, she wants to work on
lights or help as running crew- anything to be involved. Though the Visual and Performing Arts Academy
Theatre Strand is defined as an actor-training program, we afford our students the opportunity to learn
and experience all aspects of the theatre world. I can sincerely say that Esmere took every opportunity
she was given and ran with it!
It has been a pleasure to teach and work with Miss Esmere Litz over the past three years. I am confident
that not only would she benefit from your program, but that she would be a delightful addition as well.
Thank you for your consideration,
Christa J. Vogt
