This document describes an experiment to investigate current and voltage relationships in a balanced wye-connected three-phase circuit. The objectives are to demonstrate voltage and current measurements and relations. Equipment includes a three-phase transformer, wires, resistors in a wye configuration, and a multimeter. The procedure involves arranging the resistors in a wye connection, connecting to the transformer, measuring voltages and currents, recording the values, and verifying the measurements.

EXPERIMENT NO. 2

BALANCED THREE-PHASE: VOLTAGE AND CURRENT RELATIONSHIP IN WYE CONNECTION

OBJECTIVES:
1. To investigate current and voltage relations in 3-phase balanced wye
loads.
2. To demonstrate how to measure currents and voltages in three-
phase balanced wye system.

EQUIPMENT AND COMPONENTS:

1. Three phase transformer Trainer
2. 3 pcs 1.5 m Connecting wires (RYB) (12 AWG wire)
3. Connecting wires (20 AWG Stranded wire)
4. One (1) digital multimeter (DMM)
5. Three (3) pcs carbon resistors: 1000 , 1/2 W

PROCEDURE:
Note: High voltages are present in this experiment. Do not make any connections with the power supply ON. Get into
the habit of turning off the power supply after every measurement.

1. Secure a three-phase balanced source ranging from 220-240VAC.

2. Prepare all necessary materials needed for this experiment.

3. On the breadboard, arrange your resistors in wye connection.

4. Connect the voltage terminals of the circuit trainer using connecting wires.

5. Connect the terminals of the wye-connected load to secondary voltage terminals A, B, and C of the trainer.

6. Turn on the circuit trainer. Using the DMM, measure the phase and line values of voltages and currents of the
load. Record data on Table 1. Verify obtained values by computing for the phase and line values of currents and
voltages.
Note: Turn off power when making changes in the circuit or inserting/removing measuring instruments
7. Turn off the circuit trainer and return all materials and instruments to their proper storage.
