Course Rationale:
India has witnessed a significant increase in Health Insurance coverage across
population groups. In one decade the coverage went up from 4% to 15%. This spells a
huge opportunity for the Health Insurance sector in India.
Hospitals have become complex organizations as they consume vast amount of
resources in delivering a wide range of services. The increased cost of medical care,
ageing population, and the potentially declining levels of service threaten the quality
of service delivered.
The poor quality of services not only wastes resources is positively dangerous to the
health and welfare of the patients and the community at large.
There is a need for professional trained Managers to meet with the growing needs of
the Hospital Industry segment to induct trained talent.
Course Objectives:
1. To expose the students to the huge Health Insurance sector poised for a huge leap
forward.
2. To provide Hospital Managers, current and future aspirants, a certain amount of
professional management inputs to manage the hospitals effectively and efficiently.
Learning Outcomes
1. To make students aware of the importance, procedures and current practices in the
Health Insurance industry
2. To provide students hospital management concepts, starting with a focus on the
issues and challenges in delivering good quality hospital services. To equip the
future hospital managers to satisfactorily address the concerns on customer
satisfaction.
