power of God etc.
Question 5: Justified Arguments
“It is impossible to prove that God exists.”
a. Read the response to the statement below.
b. Give an opposing argument.
c. Give an overall justified conclusion, including your opinion.
On the one hand, it is impossible to prove that God exists because the world is
completely imperfect. We have natural disasters, incurable illnesses and so
much violence happening every day. Surely this is enough to suggest that no
God really exists. A God who is all powerful, all loving and all present shouldn’t
allow this to happen, therefore some believe that it is impossible to prove that
He exists.
Another argument to support this is that we are a scientifically minded society
now and we look to science to prove the things and facts we believe in. Science
cannot provide evidence that God exists, in fact, a lot of scientific beliefs
disprove the existence of God, like evolution or the big bang theory. In these
theories, science can explain things adequately without the need for a God,
therefore making it impossible to prove that He exists.
4 marks for the argument. Essentially the same mark style as a 4 mark Q.
2 marks for the conclusion depending on clarity and explanation.
Must be an opposing argument to this one and with good depth. P.E.P.E
