age 12. He was a bright young man, earning
a state scholarship, which would later be
lost due to the great difference in
educational prowess that his
underprivileged raising had caused him. He
would then dive further into his communist
activities, entering the “Party Self-defence”
paramilitary group for the KPD. Overall, the
paramilitary group only acted as a placebo
for the KPD’s relevance, however, this
changed when 23-year-old Mielke shot a
policeman dead during a Berlin
demonstration. After this event, Mielke
would retreat to Belgium using false

enter the Soviet Union. After being trained
as a revolutionary at Lenin School, Mielke
would return to Germany once World War 2
had ended, helping to found East Germany.
With his politically uncultured background,
and his deeply rooted hate for social
democrats during his childhood, Mielke
would become a ruthless leader when being
appointed as the head of the Stasi in 1957.

He is known to be the most feared and

secret police was in charge of suppressing
any possible form of political opposition,
which was accomplished through any
means available; prosecution, arrests,
suppression, kidnapping or even murder.
