The Dilemma of a Ghost is a work of literature which tries to highlight important issues rooted from a CONFLICT OF

CULTURE.This work centers at sharing an experience of what ought to happen when two or more people belonging to different
cultures tend to treat or react to each other in case they are socially interacted together. The play centers around the character
of Eulalie, a young woman caught between her traditional roots and the expectations of contemporary life, particularly in her
relationship with her husband, Ato.

One of the central themes of the play is the conflict between tradition and modernity. Eulalie's struggle reflects the broader
societal tensions in Ghana, where traditional values often clash with the influences of Western culture. This dilemma is not just
personal for Eulalie; it resonates with many individuals navigating similar challenges in a rapidly changing world.

Aidoo's use of humor and supernatural elements, such as the ghost of Eulalie's father, adds depth to the narrative. The ghost
serves as a symbol of the past, representing the weight of cultural expectations and familial obligations that Eulalie must
confront. This interplay between the living and the dead highlights the ongoing influence of tradition in shaping personal identity
and choices.

Gender roles are also critically examined in the play. Eulalie's experiences reveal the limitations placed on women in both
traditional and modern contexts. Her desire for autonomy and self-expression is often stifled by societal norms, prompting a
reflection on the need for greater gender equality and empowerment.

Moreover, "The Dilemma of a Ghost" is a rich and thought-provoking work that invites audiences to consider the complexities of
identity, the impact of cultural heritage, and the ongoing negotiation between tradition and modernity. Aidoo's insightful portrayal
of these themes makes the play a important contribution to Ghanaian literature and a relevant analysis of current social
challenges and societal issues.
