Chapter 1 - Introduction: Principles and Procedures of Materials Development

Read Chapter 1: "Introduction: Principles and Procedures of Materials Development" from the book
"Materials Development in Language Teaching" by Brian Tomlinson (2011).
Create a one-pager defining the important concepts and summarizing the key ideas on materials
development.
What are one pagers? Fletcher (as cited in 2023) defined a one-pager as “an image-heavy, idea-driven
assessment which prompts students to select the most meaningful ideas in a text, make connections to their
own lives, and display the ideas creatively with color, drawings, and quotes.” It is how students "share their
most important takeaways on a single piece of blank paper" (Potash, 2019, https://www.cultofpedagogy.com/one-pagers/).
Use an 8.5 X 13 long bond paper, and create your one-pager manually or digitally.
This is due on August 23, 2024 (Friday), during our class. Write your name (Last Name, FN) at
the back of your one-pager. Print the one-pager rubric next page and submit it with your work.
Be ready to share your ideas/thoughts from the reading material and your one-pager next week during
our face-to-face class.
