Dear Mr Charles,

Thank you for your email of 15 August in which you requested the following information:

1) What is the highest score achievable on the test and what is the highest score that has
been achieved by an individual candidate.
2) What is the average score achieved by candidates.
3) What score is required for each trade within the army.

I am treating your correspondence as a request for information under the Freedom of Information
Act (FOIA) 2000. A search for the information has now been completed within the Ministry of
Defence, and I can confirm that the information in scope of your request is held and is attached.

In response to part 1, the highest achievable score on the Army Cognitive Test is 100. The highest
score recorded is 99. In response to part 2, the average score achieved by candidates is 55.8.

In response to part 3, please find attached table.

Please note that the test was previously called the British Army Recruit Battery (BARB) Test,
however it changed to Army Cognitive Test on 13 November 2018. Therefore, the response is
based on data over the period 13 Nov 18 – 31 Aug 19.
