We are happy to see you this
Morning
John 15:1-8
Are you
abiding
in
Christ?
Not too long before He died on the cross, Jesus was
talking to His disciples about the reality that existed
between Him and Them. Lord Jesus said: ABIDE in
Me.
The truth of this is, that away from Jesus, there was little
they (the disciples) could do.
They were so unprofitable away from Jesus.
They were very unfruitful away from Jesus, and
they were so insecure away from Jesus…
This Morning, Lord Jesus will turn, not to the disciples, but
to you and I. Not from the cross, but now from heaven and
He wants to tell you that it is a MUST to ABIDE in Him.
The reality of this is that like the disciples, there is so little
that we can do away from Him.
Even if we think that we are prospering in this secular life,
even if we believe that things are marvelous, even if we
believe that we have conquered more things than ever…
The question is:
Do you ABIDE in Him?
As a Christian, by now we need to know and understand that the
only way to maintain this spiritual life is by receiving help from
Jesus…
What does it mean to ABIDE?
1. to remain; continue; stay: Abide with me. dwell; reside:
2. to continue in a particular condition, attitude, relationship,
3. to endure, sustain, or withstand without yielding or
submitting: to wait for; await: to abide the coming of the Lord.
to accept without opposition or question:
Knowing the Definition: Do you ABIDE in Him?
ABIDING IN
CHRIST
John 15
1
"I am the true vine, and My Father is
the vinedresser.
2
Every branch in Me that does not
bear fruit He takes away; and every
branch that bears fruit He prunes,
that it may bear more fruit.
3
You are already clean because of the
word which I have spoken to you.
4
Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch
cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides
in the vine, neither can you, unless you
abide in Me.
5
I am the vine, you are the branches. He
who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much
fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
6
If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast
out as a branch and is withered; and they
gather them and throw them into the fire,
and they are burned.
7
If you abide in Me, and My
words abide in you, you will
ask what you desire, and it
shall be done for you.
8
By this My Father is
glorified, that you bear much
fruit; so you will be My
disciples.
Christ is the True
One!
15:1…"I am the true
vine…”
• Away from Jesus, there is no other hope. He is the
only True One that we have, the reason for this:
Christ is the true Vine.
John 14:6…6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way,
the truth, and the life. No one comes to the
Father except through Me.
John 3:36 "He who believes in the Son has
everlasting life; and he who does not believe
the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God
abides on him."
• Everlasting life can only be obtained by staying
together with Lord Jesus.
• Jesus is the only source of Life.
• No wonder He is the True Vine!
John 6:47 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he
who believes in Me has everlasting life.
John 6:68 But Simon Peter answered Him,
"Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the
words of eternal life.
Christ is the True
One!
15:2… “Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit
He takes away…”
We are in Christ in order to produce fruit.
That’s just normal for every Christian that is in
Christ.
The result of NO fruit is: Cut off, and thrown in the
furnace
Matthew 3:8 "Therefore bear fruits worthy
of repentance,
Philippians 1:11 being filled with the fruits
of righteousness which are by Jesus
Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
Christ is the True
One!
15:2… “Every branch in Me that does
not bear fruit He takes away…”
There is a big possibility that Lord Jesus
might remove us from His vineyard if we
do not bring good fruits…
Matthew 3:10 "And even now the ax is laid to
the root of the trees. Therefore every tree
which does not bear good fruit is cut down
and thrown into the fire.
Matthew 7:19 "Every tree that does not bear
good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
Reside in Christ
Vs. 4 “Abide in Me, and I in you.”
• Close contact, connection, “Living union,” “Living
Communion”

• Do not remove yourself from Christ because that is
the day you are going to wither as a branch…
Col 1:23 if indeed you continue in the faith,
grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away
from the hope of the gospel which you heard,
which was preached to every creature under
heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister.

Relying On Christ
4
Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear
fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can
you, unless you abide in Me. 5 I am the vine, you are
the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him,
bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
• On our part: Dependence
• On God’s part: Supply
• Without it, we are useless
John 6:68 But Simon Peter answered Him, "Lord,
to whom shall we go? You have the words of
eternal life.
Relying On Christ
• Vs. 6 "If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out
as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and
throw them into the fire, and they are burned.”

rebuked the wind and the raging of the water. And they
ceased, and there was a calm.

You, command me to come to You on the water."Mt 14:30

afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, "Lord,
save me!"
Remaining with Christ

also have loved you; abide in My
love.”
• To remain, to stay, continue

centurion and the soldiers,
‘Unless these men stay in the
ship, you cannot be saved.’”

Remaining with Christ
Vs. 9 “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved
you; abide in My love.”
• Can we be saved if we are not willing to Abide in the
Love of Jesus?
• NO! The Love of Christ is the only way to be saved,
but that love can only be satisfied by obeying what
The Lord says…
John 14:15…"If you love Me, keep My commandments.
John 14:21… "He who has My commandments and
keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me
will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and
manifest Myself to him."
