THE MAIL
SOLD TO NEWS LTD.
As notified in the press this week the
directors of News Limited, have made
arrangements lor the purchase of the
'Mail'' Newspaper as from April 30 next.
The negotiations had been proceeding
for several weeks, an the sale was for-
mally concluded on Wednesday last.
The directors of News Limited, pro-
pose to continue the publication of the
'Mail'' under the. same title, as a weekly
newspaper in conjunction with the daily
evening paper the 'News,' which will
appear at an early date.
Until the completion of the building
being erected on North Terrace for News
Limited, the 'Mail' will continue to be
produced in its present home at Gilbert
Place. Thereafter a transfer will be
effected to North Terrace.
The two papers will be conirolled by
the present directors of News Limited,
who are — Messrs. G. Mostyn Evan
(chairman), J. H. Gosse, A. E. Clarkson,
Gerald Mussen, and J. E. Davidson
(managing director).
The sale does not include the freehold
of Gilbert Buildings or the general print-
ing enterprises and other assets of The
Mail Newspapers, Limited.
