Michael Douglas made Thursday’s premiere of his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones‘ new Lifetime movie Cocaine Godmother a family affair, posing on the red carpet with son Cameron Douglas.

The father-son duo smiled for photographers at the New York City event — Michael, 73, wearing a black leather jacket, matching sweater and navy pants while Cameron, 38, rocked a bright blue sweater, untucked white button-down and light-colored khaki pants.

Zeta-Jones looked happy on the carpet too, wearing a sleeveless black jumpsuit. The Oscar and Tony winner accessorized her look with diamond hoop earrings and natural looking makeup, adding a pop of pink lipstick.

It’s been 14 months since Cameron was released from prison, after a nearly seven-year stay following a drug conviction. In 2010, he was sentenced to a 5 years for possession of heroin and selling methamphetamine. His sentence was extended after he confessed to smuggling drugs into prison.

Though the troubled times and years behind bars led to distance between Michael and Cameron, the young actor told PEOPLE earlier this month that his family is “closer now than ever.”

“In difficult times, we tend to come closer,” Cameron said. “It is a beautiful sort of trait that we have.”

“My father and I have an amazing relationship,” he added. “I love spending time with him, and I will spend as much time with him as I can.”

They’ll be spending even more time together in upcoming months, as Michael becomes a grandfather for the first time as Cameron and his pregnant girlfriend Viviane Thibes are expecting their first child together.

Thibes, 39, was also on-hand at Thursday’s premiere int he Big Apple, where she and Cameron live. She showed off her growing baby belly in an empire waist, long-sleeve black dress. Cameron stood by her side, adorably placing his hand on her bump while she gave him a kiss on the cheek.

PEOPLE confirmed the two were expecting in early August. “Everyone is thrilled for him,” a source previously said, adding, “Michael is looking forward to being a grandfather.”

Meanwhile with all the changes happening in his life, sobriety is still Cameron’s no. 1 priority.

“The sobriety is extremely important,” he told PEOPLE earlier this month. “Without that, you revert back to places that you do not want to be. That’s it, you stay focused, you put it first, and you move forward.”

“I learned that I am a survivor, for sure,” Cameron added of his time spent behind bars. “I really took that time to study. I studied, I read, I educated my mind and my soul. What got me out of that rack every day was the thought that I would do everything that I could do in that day to put myself in the best position for when I finally found my freedom.”
