Richmond Football Club star Dustin Martin will not be charged over an altercation with a woman at a Melbourne restaurant earlier this month.
The woman claimed Martin threatened to stab her in the face with a chopstick at a Chapel Street restaurant after becoming angry when she asked him to settle down.
The woman said Martin then slammed the wall near her head when she confirmed she would contact the club about his behaviour.
Victoria Police said detectives had conducted an "extensive investigation", and after reviewing CCTV and speaking to those involved decided "no criminal offence took place".
Police said they took all reports of violence towards women seriously and would investigate all complaints thoroughly.
Martin admitted to being intoxicated and said he called the woman to apologise.
"Regrettably, I was intoxicated and that in itself is completely unacceptable," Martin said in a statement at the time.
"I do however take responsibility for my behaviour and I am deeply embarrassed.
"If anything I have said or done has caused anyone to feel threatened then that is totally inappropriate."
