Pt. 1 first published by Hieronymus Cock in 1565. It was republished in various eds., including one by Cock's widow as late as 1601. Pt. 2 appeared in 4 eds. by Cock and his widow from 1565 to 1581. Pt. 3 appeared in 1578 only. See Hollstein
Each part has a title leaf
Prints etched by the Van Doetecum brothers; see Hollstein
Pts. 1 and 3 of Library's copy lack title leaves, so it is not clear to which ed. they belong. The 3 pts. are on different papers, presumably indicating that they are from different eds. (pt. 1 has crayfish watermark, pt. 2 unmarked, pt. 3 has Gothic P watermark). The title and publisher for pt. 1 are taken from Hollstein 1c, the most common ed. The title leaf of Library's pt. 2 corresponds to Hollstein 1a, Cock's ed. of 1565. Title of pt. 3 from Hollstein 442-453
Binding: each pt. in modern blue-gray paper wrappers. In portfolio covered in blue buckram; red leather label on front cover, gold tooled with title: VREDEMAN / DE VRIESE. Giovanni Muzio's bookplate centered inside front cover
First print of each pt. numbered in pencil at upper right corner: D, B, and C respectively. Remaining prints of pt. 1 numbered 2-18. Prints 1-3, 6-8 of pt. 3 partly remargined, and leaf 12 repaired at lower right corner
Hollstein Dutch & Flemish
