Thomas "Tom" Yeates began his career in the alternative comics scene, cooperating on titles like Larry Shell's 'Alien Encounters' at FantaCo Enterprises. He studied at the Joe Kubert School of Art and did art for several sword and sorcery comic books by DC Comics in the early 1980s, such as 'The Warlord'. He revived 'Swamp Thing' in the series 'Saga of the Swamp Thing' with writer Martin Pasko in 1982, and he created 'Timespirits' with Stephen Perry for the Epic Comics lin.

Yeates has also drawn 'Conan' and 'Tarzan' for Dark Horse, and two 'Universe X' one-shots for Marvel in 2001. He worked with Sergio Aragonés and Mark Evanier on the 'Groo vs. Conan' crossover in 2014. He did the 'Zorro' newspaper strip for a while in cooperation with Don McGregor and Tod Smith, and succeeded Gary Gianni as the artist of the 'Prince Valiant' Sunday page, written by Mark Schultz, in April 2012.
