Deutsch: Das Wappentier der Deutschsprachigen Gemeinschaft ist ein Löwe, der an die Löwen der alten Herzogtümer Limburg und Luxemburg erinnert. Der Eupener Raum gehörte bis 1794 zu Limburg und der größte Teil des St. Vither Raumes zu Luxemburg. Das Wappentier wird umsäumt von neun stilisierten Blüten des Lungenenzian, der im Hohen Venn wächst. Die neun Blüten symbolisieren die neun Gemeinden des deutschen Sprachgebiets. Das Wappen wird von der Königskrone überhöht; damit wird die Zugehörigkeit zum Königreich Belgien unterstrichen
