Australia

During a raid in the Sydney Suburb of Castle Hill, police found 1,900 litres of "liquid ecstacy". This bust, one of the largest in Australia's history, netted $549AUS million. Police have yet to make any arrests.

A record number of bicycles were sold in Australia during the 2006 year, totalling 1,273,781 sold units, which exceeded car sales by 32%. The short commute, rising gas prices, and better fitness have made the bicycle worth the investment.

Iraq

Saddams' co-defendates are to be excuted Thursday. At press time, details still need to be worked out with the American military, but the two are expected to be at the gallows by the end of the day. In related news, Saddam Huissen was hang for the same charges earlier this week. An unauthorised video of the excutation made its way to the internet. The Iraqi government has since launched a probe to find who released the video.

United Kingdom

On New Years Eve, the United Kingdom made its last $83 million payment to the United States on loans from World War II. This final payment, and another similar payment to Canada comes six years late, due to past economical troubles in the United Kingdom.
