Wikipedia:Main Page/Errors

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by PFHLai (talk | contribs) at 20:49, 13 November 2021 (Errors in the summary of the featured article: The suggested pic of Chkhenkeli has been added to MainPage.). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

To report an error in content currently or imminently on the Main Page, use the appropriate section below.

  • Where is the error? An exact quotation of the text in question helps.
  • Offer a correction if possible.
  • References are helpful, especially when reporting an obscure factual or grammatical error.
  • Time zones. The Main Page runs on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC, currently 03:47 on 28 November 2024) and is not adjusted to your local time zone.
  • Can you resolve the problem yourself? If the error lies primarily in the content of an article linked from the Main Page, fix the problem there before reporting it here. Text on the Main Page generally defers to the articles with bolded links. Upcoming content on the Main Page is usually only protected from editing beginning 24 hours before its scheduled appearance. Before that period, you can be bold and fix any issues yourself.
  • Do not use {{edit fully-protected}} on this page, which will not get a faster response. It is unnecessary, because this page is not protected, and causes display problems because this is not a talk page. (See the bottom of this revision for an example.)
  • No chit-chat. Lengthy discussions should be moved to a suitable location elsewhere, such as the talk page of the relevant article or project.
  • Respect other editors. Another user wrote the text you want changed, or reported an issue they see in something you wrote. Everyone's goal should be producing the best Main Page possible. The compressed time frame of the Main Page means sometimes action must be taken before there has been time for everyone to comment. Be civil to fellow users.
  • Reports are removed when resolved. Once an error has been addressed or determined not to be an error, or the item has been rotated off the Main Page, the report will be removed from this page. Check the revision history for a record of any discussion or action taken; no archives are kept.

Errors in the summary of the featured article

  • i was wondering why this blurb currently does not have an image. i know little about how images are chosen for blurbs, but with my untrained eye, the images in the article seem like decent choices. in particular, an image of the prime minister seems appropriate (not unlike that used in another blurb covering a short-lived government), as well as a map that shows roughly the same territory covered by the subject of the blurb (not unlike that used in another recent blurb about the region). the blurb is currently longer than usual, so an image is not strictly necessary, but if an image is selected, it should not be difficult to trim the blurb to a suitable length. dying (talk) 05:33, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe File:Chkhenkeli Cropped.jpg (as you're suggesting)? The current caption is "Akaki Chkhenkeli served both as prime minister and foreign affairs minister for the republic." - Dank (push to talk) 05:42, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
yes. i also noticed that this image appears to be a higher quality version of that image without the oval cropping. (it is currently used in the infobox of the article on chkhenkeli.) i believe it is also in the public domain in the u.s., as it appears to have been published around 1912. also, i would probably use something along the lines of "Akaki Chkhenkeli, prime minister" for the caption, as his position as minister of foreign affairs is secondary. dying (talk) 06:27, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'd appreciate it if someone would add the image. - Dank (push to talk) 04:46, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The suggested pic of Chkhenkeli has been added to MainPage. --PFHLai (talk) 20:49, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
