Administrator access

Memo18@enlabs

This project has local bureaucrats so you should ask them for sysop rights. --Erwin 16:58, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

Ţħėőďŏŗǽ@biwiki

(I would like to become an administrator of Bislama Wikipedia. I can speak intermediate Bislama so I can help with translation of the interface of Wikipedia into this beautiful language. I can help with translation of many articles from another language editions of Wikipedia into Bislama too. That's the link to local discussion about me in biwiki.) --Ţħėőďŏŗǽ 15:03, 6 May 2010 (UTC)

You would not need admin access to translate, since translations are done in Translatewiki. Since you started the discussion, we would need atleast a week's time to run the poll. mean while, Please create a better main page like other wikis. It may also be a good idea to create policies, guidelines and help pages for the project. Since the community is small, you may have a better luck with temp adminship. --Jyothis 15:28, 6 May 2010 (UTC)
Not done. Admin rights not needed to help with translation efforts. --Daniel Mayer (mav) 12:47, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

Trần Nguyễn Minh Huy@vi.wikibooks

As below --minhhuy*= 14:09, 27 May 2010 (UTC)

Done extended for 6 months. Expires Dec 31st, 2010. --Jyothis 14:20, 27 May 2010 (UTC)

Trần Nguyễn Minh Huy@vi.wikiquote

Hello, I am currently doing sysop in this project. Previously, I had requested permissions and approved here, but the steward put the time expires in the year in June. I realize now my job here is not finished and I still love you your current position, so please extend the effective time to help me (if possible please extend indefinitely). Thank you so much! --minhhuy*= 14:09, 27 May 2010 (UTC)

Done extended for 6 months. Expires Dec 31st, 2010. --Jyothis 14:20, 27 May 2010 (UTC)

Bellavista1957@fa.wikisource.org

(I would like to become the Administrator in Wikisource Persian. I am working a lot on law in Iran, constitutions, and other legal documents. As there are no administrators, there are no welcome, no user aid, etc., there are unfinished articles which need either to be deleted or completed.) Bellavista1957 16:15, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

I see one inactive bureaucrat and a few administrator. Please make a local request and ask that bureaucrat to respond before any steward steps in. Thanks.--Jusjih 20:04, 2 May 2010 (UTC)
I can not identify in Wikisource any manager or any name that I can contact. Hope you have not mixed it with Wikipedia Farsi. I can see the name of Mardetanha as Steward who does not reply. Thank you --Bellavista1957 08:28, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
Hello, as Jusjih said, there are some administrators and a bureaucrat in the project. Please see s:fa:Special:ListUsers/sysop for a list of administrators and s:fa:Special:ListUsers/bureaucrat for a list of bureaucrats (in this case, only one). Best regards, --Dferg 09:07, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

I have filed a local request - Thank you --Bellavista1957 09:49, 3 May 2010 (UTC) I received a reply to my request for becoming Admin not from Kaveh the Admin of Wikisource but from Pedram.salehpoor . He wrote me that he will delete articles that I request to be deleted. Very strange!! how can he delete articles in Wikisource . He did not answer to my wish to become Admin in Wikisource. Could you please check this matter, . Thank you for your help. I wrote again in Kaveh page that I would like to become Admin and that he has to answer to my request.--Bellavista1957 07:38, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

Following is what I wrote to him: Where is the problem, I have requested to become Admin in Wikisource Farsi. Could you please answer to my request , I would like to become Admin in Wikisource--Bellavista1957 ‏۴ مهٔ ۲۰۱۰، ساعت ۰۷:۳۵ (UTC) --Bellavista1957 10:54, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

Bellavista, Pedram is a sysop in fa.wikisource. Could you please explain why you are blocked in fawiki? I would like to see you unblocked first, before we proceed with an RfA. Also, Please add the link to the local discussion in the space above. Thanks! --Jyothis 11:48, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

I have also explained it to Mardetanha and asked for help from him and another Admin: Dear Colleague: This is the second time I ask for your help. I am Bellavista1957 , the author of Iranian Cultural Foundation, since days some people like Shirvanloo, Irani 444, Mehdi Abbasi, insult me, delete parts of the text, name of Farah Pahlavi, change the citations, change the source of the text, delete specially sentences cited from the constitution of the Foundation, like Persian language is a heritage of Perisan culture , change dictate of words or the word itself from Farsi to Arabic. HAMAN, one of the managers, I sked to block the page Iranian Cultural Foundation against vandalism. He did that and wrote in the discussion page of the Foundation, that there is no problem with my writings.

Despite protection of page and explanations of Haman, two users changed and deleted parts of this short article again and again. I wrote to HAMAN and asked for help again and complete protection of the page, in between Mehdi Abbasi who also deleted parts of the text, wrote Hay Donkey Stop!! . I protested against. I started to discuss with the users who made the changes, to find a compromise in the discussion page of the Iranian Cultural Foundation . But in the middle of discussion , Admin Mani cut my complete access to Wikipedia for two weeks.

there is a long list of complaints against Mani by authors.--Bellavista1957 15:13, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

This request should be marked as undone , since there is very small community , also we have at least two admins who keep eye on the project me and pedram . also we have inactive crat which with email you can reach him . so there is no to stewards to step in . Regards --Mardetanha talk 16:34, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

For your Information Jyothis: I just received a mail from this salehpoor who created just a page for me and found out that I am working in Wikisource. The first words of his were threat to delete all my articles. Is this the process that someone wants to become Administratot to improve the quality of Wikisource Farsi and ultimately Wikipedia Farsi? I write here because I need your help. please help that my work of three months day and night not to be deleted, you see now they are active to cut the discussion with international stewards please stay with us and do not leave us alone with this troop, --Bellavista1957 16:39, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

Bellavista, please email the 'crat as Mardatehna has mentioned above. I will mark it as on hold, allowing you time to go back and request 'crat for the same. In any case you need a week of a local Rfa/Announcement and support for the request to be considered here. However, please note that it is quite unlikely to pass if you dont have support from other active users there. --Jyothis 18:48, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
Not done as I see two active administrator and one inactive bureaucrat. Please try to ask that bureaucrat first. If that bureaucrat remains inactive, requesting deflagging should be discussed locally before being brought here.--Jusjih 01:17, 23 May 2010 (UTC)

JinJian@warwiki

I would like to apply as an administrator of waray-waray wikipedia. I already gained the support of the sole administrator of that domain. I hope that you will grant my request. Thanks. JinJian 01:36, 16 May 2010 (UTC)

Please let the vote continue for some more days and see if you can get more votes in. Thanks --Jyothis 03:01, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for your kind attention, I'm willing to wait but I am not certain if more votes will come in. While I agree with you that building consensus will lead to a more credible decision, please take note that the waray-waray wikipedia has a very small community. Almost all of those listed in the current active user list are either bots or non-speakers of that language. Although it has relatively few users, the waray-waray wikipedia is growing. It may require the help of another administrator already and also to serve as his backup. If it pleases you, may I suggest that you give more weight on the recommendation of the only administrator for my nomination. He has been around for long time already and is a reliable and regular contributor. He may be one of the best person who can really assess whether another user deserve to gain access as a sysop of waray-waray wikipedia. Thank you once again. --JinJian 01:11, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
JinJian, While we appreciate your interest and work in the project, I would like to inform that with such a small community and only one vote, it would mostly be a temp adminship that can be granted for your request. For the weightage on votes, We would still need to give a time for community, (usually a week), before we consider the admin requests. Global sysops were created to fill the same need for helping small wikis with little or no admins and community. One a different note, Your recent edits seems to be bot edits and that does not really a standard way of doing it. if you are doing bot edits, may I request you to create a bot account and use that instead? Human accounts are not prefered to be used for bot edits. Thanks, --Jyothis 02:09, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
The latest edits were about French communes. If there are around 30,000+ of them and you are determined to finish opening at least stub-class articles for each of them, you have to find ways to do it faster. Unfortunately I do not know how to program bots nor I was able to acquire bots creating French commune stubs. It may seem unorthodox but my latest contributions were done manually. However, as a precautionary measure, I have asked the admin to review the format before I started creating them. He found nothing wrong with it. Ultimately, I have high hopes that in the future these stubs will grow to become full articles.
I am still looking forward that you will grant my request so that the waray-waray wikipedia may respond faster to those concerns requiring the attention of admins. Waray-waray is still one of the remaining few that have only one resident administrator, especially for those that have more than 10,000 articles. Thank you once again. --JinJian 08:54, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
Done. Vote has been up since the 10th and only other admin voted yes. --Daniel Mayer (mav) 01:14, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for granting me admin access. --JinJian 03:54, 24 May 2010 (UTC)

SivaneshR@ta.wikipedia.org

(I want to maintain Strict Quality in the Tamil Wikipedia. I am a Native Tamil Speaker and have the ability to manage, sensor and edit large number articles. In view of the World Classical Tamil Conference to be held at my Home town i.e. Coimbatore more administrators are needed at Tamil Wiki. I have 24*7 access to the internet. I kindly request your good selves to consider my request favourably. ) SivaneshR 17:25, 22 May 2010 (UTC)

Sivanesh, project has active bureaucrats. Please contact them and place an on wiki request in ta wiki. Thanks --Jyothis 17:32, 22 May 2010 (UTC)

Bureaucrat access

CheckUser access

Herbythyme@metawiki

I'm reinstating CheckUser rights to Herbythyme per discussion above. There is unanymous support for this and his sysop tools were granted back too. Note here for the archive. Thanks, --Dferg 19:27, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

Just for the record I agréé that Herby have his tools back, but I don't agree with the call Dferg has made, a Meta Bureaucrat should have made this request not a steward. Huib talk 09:41, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
Crats cannot add checkuser rights … but yes, it might have been better to had given back the sysop rights by local crat. —DerHexer (Talk) 09:49, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
Yes I know a crat can't give checkuser, that isn't what I'm saying.
Herby asked the checkuser tools back, and a meta crat should close that request by saying herby should have a rfcu or making the request here.
Now a steward has made a call without giving bureaucrats the time to respond.
Stewards handle on request and they don't decide right? Huib talk 10:08, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
At least per policy. But stewards had to make decisions at least since I became one of them: Whom to block, what to hide, which consensus needed for new sysops/crats on smaller projects etc. Do you disagree with dferg's decision? Do you want a crat to confirm that? But that would also be just one crat who decides then. What if other crats disagree? —DerHexer (Talk) 10:12, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
I've acted in the same way as was handled when he requested the tools back in April last year, when Spacebirdy restored him too his CU rights after Majorly restored him his sysop rights + I consulted with other stewards and said me to go ahead. Note that his sysop access was restored by Abigor hours ago. If you disagree with my acting, please revert me & accept my apologizes. --Dferg 10:27, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
I'll refrain from using the tools until this is resolved I think. No wish to cause trouble. Personally I see the role of a crat in such requests as pretty pointless (:)) as it is the community that decides - a while back I "closed" a couple of CU reqs for people I had nominated (when I was not a crat) and requested the rights but that is just my 0.02. Like I say I'll refrain for now. Regards --Herby talk thyme 11:02, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
As I see now, you're a crat here on metawiki, Abigor. You could solve that gordian knot simply by confirming the reinsertion of Herby's sysop bit here. —DerHexer (Talk) 11:07, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
I've removed the bit, a crat restored it. So everything should be fine now. Kind regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 11:25, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
(conflicted) Hexy removed the bit and I restored it as a meta bcrat. Quite pointless discussion, IMHO, as we shouldn't be too bureaucratic about this kind of things. --FiliP ██ 11:25, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
Well, the trouble was with his CU rights, not his sysop rights which Abigor restored himself:

# (show/hide) 18:20, 29 April 2010 Abigor (talk | contribs | block) changed group membership for User:Herbythyme from (none) to Administrators (http://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?diff=1954056)

Anyway, I feel sorry and my tools are at your dispossal if you feel like this. --Dferg 11:32, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

I think we can amicably solve this. We will be more careful in the future and Dferg has a point: a bureaucrat has already reinstated the flag. We have many problems that need solution and our work, let's not shoot ourselves in the foot. The involved ones have already apologized for all the misunderstandings and I think no real damage was done here (as Herby pointed, it's the community who is actually granting him the flag).

Huib just made a remark for us to notice, we humbly acknowledge the point because he is right, I don't see why everyone is going defensive. Let's focus on dealign with real issues instead of going circles among us. es:Drini 15:18, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

Please give commons:User:Herbythyme CheckUser permissions per commons:Commons:Administrators' noticeboard#Return to CU rights query. --EugeneZelenko 15:31, 9 May 2010 (UTC)

Ningauble@en.wikiquote

I am an administrator at en.wikiquote. I do not have and am not requesting the oversight flag, but this seemed the best place to call attention to a potentially serious rights problem:
Features that are normally reserved for oversighters (show/hide) are inexplicably showing up when I use log and history pages at en.wikiquote this morning (but not when I am logged out). Would someone please investigate right away to find out whether access to these restricted tools is being handed out willy-nilly, perhaps due to some sort of software glitch or corruption. Thanks. ~ Ningauble 15:19, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

It is the same for all of us I think ... --Herby talk thyme 15:23, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
All of whom? Does everybody who logs in have access to oversight!? ~ Ningauble 15:26, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
No. RevisionDelete (like oversight, but without access to oversight-level suppression or suppressed material) has been enabled for admins site-wide. A technical description can be found here. You don't have access to suppressed material, or the ability to suppress material from administrators. PeterSymonds 15:28, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
(ec) Looks like admins - as a regular user on en wp I don't get it. I guess if you want to hide any mistakes you happen to have made now may be a good time...:) Or it is simply a form of oversight intended for admins (admins can reverse the changes of other admins by the look of it). --Herby talk thyme 15:31, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
See bug 18780 and the help page Peter linked to for more information. Cbrown1023 talk 15:32, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
Ok, this seems reasonable. But could somebody post an informative notice to whatever passes for an "Administrator's Noticeboard" in the affected wikis? Many thanks. ~ Ningauble 15:44, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
Anyway... Thanks for cluing me in about the situation. Sorry if this was a bit off topic here, but I didn't know where else to ask, at least not where there would be such a quick response. I shared the news with other admins at Wikiquote, with some useful links. This request can be closed. ~ Ningauble 17:09, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
Another admin, who seems to be an oversight ;) I hope reported bugzilla:23584 resolve the problem :) LeinaD (t) 18:57, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

Abigor@commons.wikimedia

The following discussion is closed.

I am requesting an emergency desysop. This is where user Abigor claims that his wheel warring use of adminship is acceptable because he was just undeleting art and "breastfeeding images". I point out that he was really undeleting hard core pornography and wheel warring it. He blocked me, blocked my talk page, and tried to shut down any response. He is clearly attacking the WMF and blocking anyone who points out that he is abusing his ops. I am requesting an emergency desysop until this situation can be dealt with more thoroughly. --Ottava Rima (talk) 22:08, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

Not done, solve it on commons! Laaknor 22:09, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
You have made it clear that you have a strong POV that you revealed on IRC after declining this. The POV is about Jimbo's statements, so I feel that it clouds your judgment on the matter. You stated that you did not think Jimbo had support, which suggests that you believe that the clear wheel warring and abuse of ops is not something to worry about. Ottava Rima (talk) 22:26, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
Lies again, don't remember seeing Laaknor say things like this. Huib talk 22:28, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
You have no room to throw around the word "lie". You claimed you weren't undeleting hard core porn while doing so, and, when this was pointed out, you not only blocked me in retaliation but you blanked my talk page and made it so I could not edit it before removing multiple criticisms of you. You have gone beyond abusive. Ottava Rima (talk) 22:29, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
If you believe that was what I said, you really need to read it again. What I said was that your judgement was affected by POV. Laaknor 22:31, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
I can quote what you said. You said that Jimbo's policy was not supported by the WMF, which is a partisan comment. It has nothing to do with my POV, as I did not block anyone, protect their talk page, reverse Jimbo on multiple images, and other clear cut abuses of ops. Ottava Rima (talk) 22:36, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
I feel misquoted, since that was not what I said. Laaknor 22:38, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
Then if you felt that Jimbo's policy is supported by the WMF, as Stewards who serve the WMF you would desysop a user who has gone against the WMF and wheel warred against the Founder who is acting in his policy crafting role. 22:59, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
I follow Steward policy, and it says that it has to be discussed locally on the wiki. Just because you disagree with an action, it doesn't mean it's an emergency (emergency in this case would have been if the account was taken over by someone else). Jimbo has the ability to do removal of sysop-rights, and he does not need to follow the steward policy. If he feels it is needed, he should do it himself on behalf of the board. Laaknor 23:04, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
"stewards should not act unless it is an emergency situation requiring immediate action or there are no active local users to do it." This is an emergency situation as wheel warring and blocking anyone who dares to point out the abuse makes it impossible to deal with it on Wiki. I have read the policy thoroughly and that little bit is right at the top. This is an -emergency- request so your statements do not apply. Ottava Rima (talk) 23:08, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

Mr. Abigor shows the same abusive behaviour wherever he goes, including here on meta. He has some history of being blocked and banned himself, but changes accounts when that happens. Of course, since he made admin, that has no longer been necessary as he can now get away with anything. Guido den Broeder 02:26, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

ماني@fa.wikipedia

Admin Mani in Wikipedia Farsi should be removed from the list of local administrators, for frequent blocking without any reason andlack of respect to rules of Wikipedia. Discussion in the local community is not possible, Admin Mani answers the complaints against him by himself and blocks the users to discuss. The Farsi speaking steward Mardetanha has been contacted but no answer.--Bellavista1957 15:13, 16 May 2010 (UTC)

Not done. The local community needs to discuss this first. We can't just remove the rights without community discussion. However, I would recommend to the admin that he shouldn't block users who disagrees with him himself, but leave it to an other admin to block if needed. Laaknor 15:26, 16 May 2010 (UTC)

Hugo.arg@lt.wikipedia

The reasons for removal of User:Hugo.arg administrator’s rights of lt.wikipedia are the following: harsh violation of etiquette (not the first one, the user was warned several times), offensive behaviour towards the user of other nationalities, insulting of other lt.wikipedia users, edit wars, the creation of inappropriate and offensive redirects etc. The summary of voting and discussion. The result of the vote is 16:6 in favor of removing the user’s admin rights. 6 administrators, including two bureaucrats, voted in favor of removing the rights (according to lt.wiki rules, their votes are doubled), none of the active administrators voted against the removal of the user’s administrator rights. So, to sum up the vote, the lt.wikipedia community decided that user:Hugo.arg should be sacked from his admin rights as it is said in the rules. User:Hugo.arg did not regret doing any of the violations. So, in the name of all lt.wikipedia community I request to help us to bring this vote into effect.
