This playlist tracks what’s happening from the heart of the country scene to its outer edges. Find fan favorites you already love next to breakout stars and emerging voices. Topping the list this week is the emotional Brandon Lake and Jelly Roll collaboration “Hard Fought Hallelujah,” a country/worship crossover that finds resonant connection points between the two genres. The heartfelt track was originally a solo tune by Lake, a popular contemporary Christian singer-songwriter whose past projects include work with Maverick City Music. This updated duet makes room for Jelly Roll to serve up some soulful vocals, complementing Lake’s own powerful pipes while adding grit and gravity to the song’s portrayal of finding redemption. The pair performed a stirring rendition of the song together at the Grand Ole Opry in mid-February, and Jelly has worked “Hard Fought Hallelujah” into some of his own set lists, too, while out on various legs of his ongoing Beautifully Broken Tour.
