Ilke Wyludda

Ilke Wyludda (28 March 1969 – 1 December 2024) was a German discus thrower. She was born in Leipzig, then-East Germany. She won a gold medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics. She also won two silver medals at the 1991 and 1995 World Athletics Championships. Wyludda also won a gold medal at the 1990 European Athletics Championships.

In early January 2011, Wyludda revealed that she had to have her right leg amputated because of sepsis.^[1] After losing her leg, she returned to athletics and began entering para-sport competitions.

Wyludda died on 1 December 2024 in Halle, Germany from a short-illness at the age of 55.^[2]
