What’s Colin Firth‘s next TV project after HBO‘s acclaimed 2022 limited series “The Staircase“? It’s alongside Catherine McCormack in the upcoming limited series “Lockerbie: A Search For Truth,” which hits Peacock right after the New Year in 2025.

The five-episode series follows the true story of the Pan Am Flight 103, which crashed over a Scottish town on December 21, 1988, killing 259 passengers and crew. Firth stars as Dr. Jim Swire, with McCormack as his wife Jane, the couple who spearheaded an investigation into the truth behind the tragic accident.

Inspired by the true story, on December 21, 1988, 259 passengers and crew were killed when Pan Am Flight 103 exploded over Lockerbie, Scotland 38 minutes after take-off, with a further 11 residents losing their life as the plane came down over the quiet, Scottish town. In the wake of the disaster and his daughter’s death, Dr. Jim Swire (Firth), is nominated spokesperson for the UK victims’ families, who have united to demand truth and justice.
Along with Firth and McCormack, “Lockerbie” also stars Rosanna Adams, Jemma Carlton, Harry Redding, and Sam Troughton. Mark Bonner, Ardalan Esmaili, and Selwa Jghalef round out the main cast.
Otto Bathurst directs “Lockerbie,” with David Harrower penning all five episodes. Both also serve as executive producers, alongside Gareth Neame and Nigel Marchant via Carnival Films, Sam Hoyle via Sky Studios, Liz Trubridge, Jim Sheridan, Kirsten Sheridan, and Oskar Slingerland.
