To answer these questions, it is first necessary to understand the primary purpose of our agency. Our mission is:

To manage and conserve the natural and cultural resources of Texas and to provide hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation opportunities for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.

To ensure that we succeed in this mission, it is necessary that we acquire a large variety of commodities and services. We purchase a wide variety commodities ranging from plumbing supplies to all-terrain vehicles and services ranging from vehicle maintenance to professional design. Depending on the dollar amount of the purchase, commodities and services may be procured by the location, division, or agency purchasing department.
