Amazon is closing the book on Bosch.
The adaptation of Michael Connelly’s Harry Bosch novels — which began with the seven-season Bosch, in February 2014 — will end with the third season of Bosch: Legacy, arriving in March 2025 on Prime Video.
In an Instagram post sharing the news, Connelly said that Bosch: Legacy Season 3 is “our best yet. It will also be the last season, bringing to a fitting close a 10-season run with this character, played so well by Titus Welliver.
“But fear not,” the novelist added, “we are currently in production on the Renée Ballard show” starring Maggie Q and premiering on Prime Video and Freevee in Fall 2025. “And if you know anything about my books, then you know you have not seen the last of Harry Bosch!”
Connelly went on to celebrate “the best people up and down the call sheet — actors, writers, directors, producers, and all the crew tried to make something special,” before asserting, “None of this would have happened without the first name on the call sheet: Titus Welliver. He became the full embodiment of Harry Bosch and that was the magic that fueled 10 seasons. As the guy who writes the books, I can’t tell you how lucky I got when he signed on.”
Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, said in a statement, “For 10 years, Bosch and Bosch: Legacy have been two of our most defining series for Prime Video, Freevee, and Amazon MGM Studios. They are a testament to the enduring power of the storytelling universe that Michael Connelly built for the fans. We are proud of the impact these series have made, and we are excited that Michael, Titus, Henrik and the creative team have more engaging stories to tell in the Bosch world with the final season of Bosch: Legacy, our new Ballard series and more to come.”
What? Why? I mean it’s not like I thought it could go on forever… but maybe 5 seasons at least. I really love the Bosch character. Honey Chandler is great, and Maddie picks up the slack. I do miss J Edgar tho.
I liked J Edgar also and the 2 retired detectives. Those 2 should have a detective show of their own. Their characters played off Harrys character perfectly
Who else is royally pissed about this decision? Way too early if you ask me.
Amen
Sorry to hear it, but glad to get confirmation that Harry will show up in the Renee Ballard series. I hope it is like in the books, a major role, and not just an occasional cameo.
Dang, that’s a major drag 😭
I have loved the Bosch series. Excellent series and I have been waiting to hear when the third season would start. I’ll be glad when it does but am sad it is the final season.
Sad to see it go. I’m a fan of the books and honestly the original series and the spinoff were better than I expected. Really incredible work by everyone and sorry to see it end. Having said that, ten seasons is an incredible run. And ten seasons in the streaming era is even more amazing. It was never the biggest show, the most popular, the hippest – it was just good! And loyal fans and word of mouth kept it alive.
Honestly I was hoping for 5-7 seasons of Legacy and then a spinoff focused on Maddie as a newbie detective where her dad would guest star a couple times a season as their cases intersected. (I’m still up for that, in case anyone is listening…)
Nooooooo!
Bosch and Bosch Legacy were some of the best programming I’ve seen in awhile, so why end it? These shows were 2 of the best on Amazon and the ratings were some of the highest with Bosch Legacy at an 8.4, and Bosch at an 8.5. Are the actors simply tired of their characters? If that’s the case well OK. The show could not go on with replacement characters. It’s just kind of sad, I look forward to the next installment, to know this will be the last….
Shouldn’t have moved to Freevee.
noooo! I love this show!
I have loved all of the Bosch seasons. No one else could play Bosch better than Titus !!
Oh no that completely sucks :(
I’ve watched Bosch from beginning, awesome, fabulous
Magnificent
Tytus Welliver fit the series
This was really bad compared to the powerhouse Bosch was. Here is to hoping that the continuation of Renee Ballard will put this show back on track.
I have enjoyed Bosch very much. Thank you for this fine show.
I love the Bosch series!!! I need more, more, more……if you have start dates, please post…I don’t want to miss…..
