David Corenswet
David Corenswet (born July 8, 1993) is an American actor best known for landing the coveted role of Superman in James Gunn's 2025 comic book movie of the same name, which kicks off a new DC Universe across film, television and video games that is being over seen by Gunn and his DC Studios co-chief Peter Safran. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Corenswet got his acting start predominantly on television with roles on "Moe & Jerryweather," "Elementary," "Instinct" and "House of Cards." His big TV break came when he was cast in Ryan Murphy's Netflix series "The Politician." He also starred Murphy's Netflix period drama series "Hollywood." Corenswet had his feature film debut in the 2018 political thriller "Affairs of State," headlining the project opposite Thora Birch and David James Elliott. Additional film roles followed in the Jenny Slate-led comedy "The Sunlit Night" and the Netflix romantic-comedy "Look Both Ways." Corenswet also starred opposite Mia Goth in the A24 horror movie "Pearl," and played a romantic lead to Lucy Boyton in Searchlight's "The Greatest Hits." Playing Superman for James Gunn in the new DC Universe will certainly make Corenswet a global star. He takes over the role of Superman from Henry Cavill, who previously played the Man of Steel in Zack Snyder's DC Universe.
