Ferrari showed their dominance once again by topping the times in Saturday's first practice session at Imola ahead of today's qualifying session for the San Marino Grand Prix.
Michael Schumacher set the quickest time of one minute and 35.633 second, but ended his session in a spin. On his final lap he lost control of his Ferrari, but managed to keep his car on the track.
Rubens Barrichello was second quickest while Ferrari's rivals McLaren came home in third and fourth with Mika Hakkinen ahead of his team-mate David Coulthard.
Jaguar driver Luciano Burti failed to post a competitive time after he spun into a tyre wall. He emerged from his car unscathed, despite a heavy collision with the barriers.
