"You said to keep him alive...!" "I was wrong." Lionsgate has debuted the official trailer for Wire Room, another action thriller with Bruce Willis just like the many other junk movies they've been churning out with Willis for the last few years. I keep wondering how many of these they have up their sleeves, after the reveal of his cognitive disorder in March at least three or four of these film have appeared. So sad. While on Wire Room duty – a high-tech command center surveilling the most dangerous criminals – a federal agent listens in as the target is attacked in his home by a hit squad. Without burning the wire yet, he must protect the investigation and the target's life from the confines of a room fifty miles away. The film stars Kevin Dillon, Bruce Willis, Oliver Trevena, Texas Battle, Cameron Douglas, & Shelby Cobb. There are so many of these generic, derivative action films they all blend together now, it's hard to even tell any of them apart.
Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Matt Eskandari's Wire Room, direct from YouTube:
Action legend Bruce Willis comes out with guns blazing as Shane Mueller, a Homeland Security agent who runs the Wire Room, a high-tech command center surveilling the most dangerous criminals. New recruit Justin Rosa (Kevin Dillon) must monitor arms-smuggling cartel member Eddie Flynn — and keep him alive at all costs. When a SWAT team descends on Flynn’s home, Rosa breaks protocol and contacts the gangster directly to save his life. As gunmen break into the "Wire Room" and chaos erupts, Mueller and Rosa make a final, desperate stand against the corrupt agents and officials who seek to destroy evidence and kill them both. Wire Room is directed by the Iranian-American action filmmaker Matt Eskandari, director of the films Victim, Game of Assassins, 12 Feet Deep, Trauma Center, Survive the Night, and Hard Kill previously. The screenplay is written by Brandon Stiefer. Lionsgate will release Eskandari's Wire Room in select US theaters + on VOD starting September 2nd, 2022 coming up soon. Will anyone watch this?

Pretty sure "mental instability" (as you put it) and a cognitive disorder are two totally different things. From the article you liked: "The 67-year-old’s family said he will retire from acting because he has aphasia. The cognitive disorder affects a person’s ability to communicate and often develops in individuals who have suffered strokes." Come on Alex. Do better.

Pretty sure this cognitive disorder is the cause of his mental instability. Not sure what the big issue is here. Cognitive = relating to "mental" processing. Disorder = confusion, instability. "Cognitive disorder" = "mental instability". Just using synonyms.

I will be short, since it's my profession (professor of philosophy; and yes, I have a university - academic - degree from history, too) and just can't keep quite about this. So, cognitive is not a synonym for mental (although cogitatio or cognitio in Latin gives also multiple meanings: knowledge, knowing, thought, thinking, notion, thinking etc; of course, mens - Latin - means mostly soul or spirit). It is not and it will never be, sorry. It is related to knowledge and knowledgeability. Something quite different...

Okay fair enough... But "mental" is related to our mind, it means anything related to our mind and thinking and what happens in our minds. And cognitive means what our mind does, and how it processes and works. So I actually think they ARE related. This seems like saying digestion and eating are not related. They're not really the same function but they ARE definitely connected.

They are definitely connected, Alex. And you probably didn't mean anything, well, mean. But for the sake of said distinction, it sounds better when you don't say mental and think of cognitive. In many sciences and professional areas (and outside of them) those things are quite different and I think that you want it to be as precise as possible as well. And also, you probably wouldn't like to be perceived as someone who wants to offend or humiliate. I hope you understand that I mean well here. And not only me. Also, you're doing great stuff with this site so, actually, don't worry and keep up with doing your good work. Cheers...

I've already corrected it. I just think we're making way too big of a deal over semantics. The fact that these filmmakers kept working with Willis while in his state in order to churn out mediocre action movies they can make money on because his name is involved is WAY WAY worse than anything I've written or said on here.

I agree. And yes, movie business is full of distasteful and dishonest people. But what else is new? And, as said, let's not worry about the whole thing here. So, let's move to the next exciting nonsense about movies...

I definitely agree. Wish they would not tarnish his career with these movies. It's really sad. I'm sure it pays the bills. But it would've been great to see him have more prominent roles, even as cameos in tentpole films. He could have a short 2 minute scene as a top general in Maverick. Or a small, but significant role in MCU. Something that wouldn't take a toll on him but would still benefit him financially while maintaining his name in cinema.

Agreed! I kept hoping for this, too. I thought he's in all these films why not something more interesting? And it stings even more reading about what happened only years after he was making all of these...

And I don't mean those roles specifically. Just the idea of him having small cameos or roles where he plays a high ranking character or prominent figure that doesn't require much screen time.

Hi shiboleth. I love philosophy, so consider me one of your students. I have a question: How would you define "Mental" in few words?

Hey tarek, you are still around? That's so cool. I haven't heard from you for a very long time. How are you doing, man? As for the 'Mental', I'm not sure if it has strong philosophical presence today. One of those notions that has rich history and ended up quite vague, especially in philosophy. The inherent meanings can be also quite elusive, whether it's a soul or a psyche (Greek version of the notion) or even some kind spirituality. But that's just the thing, it's some sort of habitat in medicine or in sociology and in so many other areas, but nothing firm. Also, starting as 'mens', it was much closer to philosophy but it has become quite dispersed in its meaning with time. However, somehow its cousin, 'anima', which can be also translated as soul, was luckier since it also meant 'giving life to things'. So, when we mention 'mentalism' we can do better if we relate it to its late meaning which is 'mind' in English (and which has much better philosophical use), but with 'animism' we can still have quite an philosophical perception of reality. In short and for starters, this is it...

From everything ive read, it looks like Bruce is suffering early form of dementia. How do i know? My mom has it since 4 years. That look in his eyes. I know it and its very very tragic.
