Memory Trailer

"We all have to die – what's important is what you do before you go." Uh sure, whatever you say Liam. Open Road Films has debuted the trailer for Memory, an action movie remake made by director Martin Campbell (of GoldenEye, Mask of Zorro, Vertical Limit, Casino Royale, Edge of Darkness). The original Belgian film from 2003 was called De zaak Alzheimer (The Alzheimer's Case also known as The Memory of a Killer) but it has been dumbed down for American audiences with the title Memory. An assassin-for-hire finds that he's become a target after he refuses to complete a job for a dangerous criminal organization. "Alex is built for revenge but, with a memory that is beginning to falter, he is forced to question his every action, blurring the line between right and wrong." Liam Neeson stars as the aging hitman, with Guy Pearce, Monica Bellucci, Ray Stevenson, Stella Stocker, & Antonio Jaramillo. I'm starting to get worried Neeson is turning into Bruce Willis, churning out endless mediocre films when he should just stop.

Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Martin Campbell's Memory, direct from YouTube:

Memory follows Alex Lewis (Liam Neeson), an expert assassin with a reputation for discreet precision. Caught in a moral quagmire, Alex refuses to complete a job that violates his code and must quickly hunt down and kill the people who hired him before they and FBI agent Vincent Serra (Guy Pearce) find him first. Alex is built for revenge but, with a memory that is beginning to falter, he is forced to question his every action, blurring the line between right and wrong. Memory is directed by acclaimed New Zealander filmmaker Martin Campbell, director of the movies The Sex Thief, Eskimo Nell, Three for All, Criminal Law, Defenseless, No Escape, GoldenEye, Mask of Zorro, Vertical Limit, Beyond Borders, The Legend of Zorro, Casino Royale, Edge of Darkness, Green Lantern, The Foreigner, and The Protégé previously. The screenplay is written by Dario Scardapane. A remake of the Belgian film De zaak Alzheimer, made by Carl Joos and Erik Van Looy, who adapted their film from the book "De zaak Alzheimer" by Jef Geeraerts. Open Road Films will debut Campbell's Memory in theaters exclusively starting on April 29th, 2022 this spring.

I mean Guy Pearce can't be bad addition to this. But honestly, Liam needs to change something...

Why change anything? He's being paid millions of dollars to headline these action films and they aren't that bad. Well, the Taken sequels left a lot to be disired, I'll admit...lol... Comparing him to Bruce Willis is crazy. This new one has a good director, a very good supporting cast, and will be a well made film. Willis makes junk with no names and walks thru his bad movies. At least Neeson puts in the good work and deserves his huge salary. I don't mind his films. He's made plenty of excellent films and now he's headlining films for big money. I can't fault the guy...and besides...look at the quality of most films Hollywood is churning out so I can't fault him for not participating in that stuff. Cheers. I'll wait for this to come around on cable though...lol...

Your comments always add something insightful, as expected. But to be honest, I watched some of those films (post-Taken period such as 'The Marksman', 'Honest Thief', 'The Ice Road', 'The Commuter', just to name few) and they are mostly not so great. But then again, I have to agree, they are much better from those made by or with Bruce Willis. Brucey simply lost it a while ago and whatever he does lately is unwatchable. But I also have to agree with you, that Liam is doing much better with the cards he's dealt. And I have to agree about most of Hollywood films, although I have to say that for some time they don't represent serious reference for a good or a watchable film anyway. It's a big wide world and good films are mostly done elsewhere. So, among so many other choices, Liam is probably doing ok (and Guy Pearce plus that director won't hurt so I'll follow you probably with watching this). I'm just afraid that he doesn't become something worse...

As always, I can't disagree with what you say. I mean, it is obvious Neeson isn't making any Citizen Kane's...lol...it would be insane for me to suggest his films are excellent cinema...lol...just good B Movies, I guess. I prefer him to what DeNiro has been doing for the past decade or more. He too is making the really big money so perhaps that is what drives good actors as they age. I've never been a fan of Willis...his arrogance leaks into his performances which ruin good acting. I've heard all about that guy on sets and in general. Plus, he's not even making the big money like Neeson and DeNiro as he's become a joke around the industry. And again, as always shiboleth, I enjoy communicating back and forth with you. Cheers.
