Wikimedia Foundation’s Post

Bhutan, a land of rich biodiversity and cultural heritage, is welcoming a growing Wikimedia community. 🇧🇹 Dzongkha, the country’s official language, is spoken by the majority of the population, and while Dzongkha Wikipedia started more than 10 years ago, the community recognizes a need for new, sustainable ideas and voices. Dzongkha Wikipedian Kheng Singye Dorji reached out to the West Bengal Wikimedians User Group for advice on helping to build a more active community. Along with Bengal Wikimedians Ananya Mondal and User:Bodhisattwa, Dorji held two workshops where volunteers discussed ways to build community and support the digital preservation of Bhutan’s culture, language, and heritage. The workshops also spotlighted innovative projects that highlight Bhutan’s unique natural wonders, including Wiki Loves Butterfly, a digital conservation effort that has contributed around 15,000 high-quality images to Wikimedia Commons. Learn why this collaborative effort is a significant step in fostering the Dzongkha Wikipedia community ➡️ https://w.wiki/D92Y
