It is time for Wiki Loves Folklore 2025! The global photography contest celebrating folk traditions and cultural heritage is back for one more year. Your photos can help document and preserve the festivals, music, food, rituals, and costumes that keep traditions alive. Since its launch, Wiki Loves Folklore has collected more than 120,000 stunning media from over 168 countries, contributing invaluable visual resources to Wikimedia projects – including the photo in this post, featuring an initiation ritual of boys from the Yao tribe in Malawi. Writers can take part in the Feminism and Folklore contest to showcase the important roles women hold in folklore. With participation from 51 Wikipedia language communities, it has become one of the most widely organized Wikipedia contests to date.
