Las Vegas Raiders History

The Las Vegas Raiders began play in the American Football League in Oakland in 1960. In 1963, they hired head coach and general manager Al Davis, who engineered the greatest one-year turnaround in pro football history, leading the Raiders to a 10-4 record after they posted a 1-13 mark the year before.

From 1967 to 1977 the Raiders appeared in three consecutive AFL title games and six AFC championship games. They won their first national championship title at Super Bowl XI in 1977, beating Minnesota 32-14. In 1980, they became the first Wild Card playoff team to win a Super Bowl, beating Philadelphia 27-10 in Super Bowl XV.

The Raiders moved to Los Angeles in 1982 and the following year won their third national championship title, defeating Washington 38-9 in Super Bowl XVIII. After returning to Oakland in 1995, the Raiders won three straight AFC West titles from 2000 to 2002 and earned a berth in Super Bowl XXXVII. As the only franchise to play in the Super Bowl in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, the Raiders are known as the “Team of the Decades.” The Raiders relocated to Las Vegas in 2020 and made a playoff appearance in 2021.

The Raiders have 30 members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, including owner Al Davis.

  • Great event

by FS on 12/31/25Rating: 4 out of 5

Had a great time at the game between NY Giants and Raiders. Staff is amazing, very helpful and kind. Giving 4 star rating only because an attendee continued to use vulgar language over and over, shouting on top of his lungs with many kids present including ours. Staff should have given him a warning or let him leave as he was taking focus away from the game to himself. Buying the cheapest ticket in the highest possible section and yell down vulgarities makes zero sense. That’s the only complaint otherwise the entire crowd was happy, kind, and very respectful.

  • Beautiful Stadium

Gorgeous stadium. Very clean and well maintained. Staff was kind and eager to help at every turn. It had a homey, warm feel for a stadium.

  • 1st Time

It was my first time at the stadium, besides the loss it was a great experience. *The Walk over from Mandalay is the way to go! *Prices were not as bad as I thought *Food was the best I have ever had at a stadium *Many helpful people *The lines moved quick

  • Seating selection is very difficult

by Sunny on 8/21/25Allegiant Stadium - Las VegasRating: 3 out of 5

It was very difficult and frustrating to select the seating for the Raiders/49er game. You can see section easily, but you cannot see the actual row and the number on the seats that you are trying to buy it would be nicer to have a more detailed diagram. Also, the parking that I bought was not the one I bought last year so I would like to see a better diagram when purchasing parking passes.

  • Awesome

Very good experience and enjoyed the event I attended in another state.

  • Nice Stadium but . . .

by JohnFBM on 10/17/24Allegiant Stadium - Las VegasRating: 4 out of 5

I'm a Steeler fan and my team won so take this review with a grain of salt. Getting into the stadium was hassle free and reserved parking was somewhat reasonable. Prices for food and beverage where as outrageous as any other stadium I've ever been too so no surprise there. The prices for my seats were twice as much as what I pay for at a home game for the Steelers with better seating in Pittsburgh but I guess someone has to pay for that new stadium. What I was really disappointed in and why I only gave this review a 4 stars was the sound system. Flo Rida was the half time show and the sound quality was so horrible that half the time I couldn't make out what song they were singing. If the Steelers were to play in Las Vegas again I would definitely go again if it fit in my schedule.

  • anxiety inducing experience

by Mr Flaxman on 10/17/24Allegiant Stadium - Las VegasRating: 2 out of 5

I wanted to go to an event in USA so I booked it online through the event website no problem. I live in UK so could only download UK app that didn't show USA event. I spent alot on event, travel and accommodation so not having access to event was concerning. when in USA still couldn't install USA app and while asking how to get my tickets all answers were....download the app!. finally stumbled on the Google wallet solution after an hour of panic. just allow USA events on UK app, it can't be that hard surly.
