Baby, it’s You! You’s the one we need! Netflix’s Penn Badgley–starring hit, You, will return for a fifth and final season, and the major hit will not be going out quietly. Get ready for blood, mayhem, and not too much sexy time, thank you very much. The show has been in hiding for a while now, and the new season is premiering well over two years after the previous one ended in March 2023. If you need a few updates before you get fully back on the case, don’t worry, we’ve got you. Below, find everything, from the first trailer to the release date to the detective assigned to the case.
What does the season look like?
In the first trailer, released March 10, Joe Goldberg is surrounded by beautiful women who he would normally … ya know … stalk and kill. But he’s just trying to be a normal family guy, the kind who poses for pictures on the red carpet with his beautiful British wife, Kate (Charlotte Ritchie). Unfortunately for him, there are adversarial twins, both played by Anna Camp, set against him. How can you not love a show that stars Anna Camp as a pair of adversarial twins? The most chilling moment in the trailer, though, is Joe’s son screaming “Dad!”
Who’s joining the cast?
One detective is ready to take him on. On July 29, it was announced that Baby Reindeer star Nava Mau was cast as Detective Marquez. Maybe her first stop will be at Mooney’s, where she’ll find Madeline Brewer as Bronte, a “free-spirited playwright” and bookstore employee who makes Joe yearn for his former self. Other hipsters this season include Natasha Behnam as Dominque, b as Phoenix, and Tom Francis as Clayton. Outside of his job, Joe’s family is getting a little bigger; he gets a couple of in-laws this season: Griffin Matthews plays the “snarky” Teddy Lockwood, and Pete Ploszek plays the “Golden Retriever” Harrison Lockwood. Plus, as mentioned, Anna Camp will be playing evil twins Raegan and Maddie Lockwood.
Who’s leading the team?
The show is returning one last time but without creator and showrunner Sera Gamble at the helm. She’ll be replaced by executive producers Michael Foley and Justin W. Lo, though she will continue as an EP on the project. “As I step back from day-to-day showrunning to focus on new projects, I’m immensely grateful to co-creator and all-around genius Greg Berlanti, Caroline Kepnes, my friends at Berlanti Productions and Alloy Entertainment, and our steadfast partners at Warner Bros. and Netflix,” Gamble said in a statement. “I feel lucky to have worked with an artist as gifted and thoughtful as Penn Badgely. I’m proud of what we’ve all accomplished and feel privileged to pass the torch. I’m excited to watch and support the You team as they bring Joe Goldberg’s journey to its delightfully twisted conclusion.” Production for the final season began in late March.
When can we watch You?
The fifth and final season of You premieres on April 24, 2025, on Netflix. So make sure you, yourself, and your evil twin are all tuned in.
