The "Mirliton Festival" is held in the Bywater section of New Orleans Louisiana USA to celebrate local vegetable the mirliton (Sechium edule, also known elsewhere as the chayote or huisquil) and the culture of the Bywater neighborhood. The first annual festival was in 1990.
