Welcome to Wikimedia Commons, myself488!

Our first steps tour and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki—it is really easy. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel irc:wikimedia-commons #wikimedia-commons (direct access). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing. |

Mobile platform
[edit]I've requested that the file be renamed. However, I'm concerned by your targeted naming with these files, since it doesn't specify that this platform is for the Ares program. Perhaps it would be prudent to request that the term "Ares" be appended to each file? — Huntster (t @ c) 14:19, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
- I wrote a short description at Category:Mobile Launcher, this should clarify its purpose. Additionally the NASA description below the images explains the purpose of the platform in detail. In my opinion that's enough. Regards --myself488 (talk) 16:34, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
- We'll see how it goes. This can be fixed at any point in the future if need calls. My main concern is that we have Category:Crawler-transporter, which seems to be a catch-all for both the Crawler and the Shuttle mobile platform (which is far more notable), whereas Category:Mobile Launcher is being used entirely for the Ares platform, which may not (and this is, unfortunately, looking likely) ever see use. I just don't like having ambiguous categories floating about, but like you said, the description added with suffice for now. That said, in the future I may look into renaming the category to "Mobile Launcher Platform" (then create subcategories for the Shuttle and Ares missions), so that it isn't confused with Category:TEL vehicles and w:Mobile launcher vehicle. — Huntster (t @ c) 02:15, 28 January 2010 (UTC)
I would like to thank you for taking the time to review my request for checkuser rights. I hope one more CU will make a difference, at least for the other CUs' workload! Regards, --Eusebius (talk) 16:30, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
Hi Myself488,
As a you've probebly noticed, since yesterday the patrolling functionality has been enabled for all edits, no longer just for page creations (hence the Sitenotice). This enables us to track, for example, anonymous edits on Commons. I'd like to invite you to check out the Anonymous edits list and maybe patrol part of a day. See also the updated Commons:Patrol.
If you have any questions please leave message on the CVU talkpage, my talkpage or on IRC. --Krinkletalk 22:00, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
Your RfA
[edit]Has been closed as successful, and as such you are now an administrator at Commons. Congratulations! If you get stuck, Commons:Guide to adminship is a good essay to read, and if you have any specific questions don't hesitate to contact me on my talk page. Best of luck, –Juliancolton | Talk 14:39, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

Counter Vandalism Unit
Sollte jetzt funktionieren. Unter Commons:Counter Vandalism Unit#Tools findest du noch nützliche Hinweise. --myself488 talk 21:01, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
- Vielen Dank. Kyro (talk) 21:05, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
Congratulations, Dear Administrator!
[edit]
Myself488, congratulations! You now have administrator rights on Commons. Please take a moment to read the Commons:Administrators page and watchlist related pages (in particular Commons:Administrators' noticeboard and its subpages), before launching yourself into page deletions, page protections, account blockings or modifications of protected pages. The majority of the actions of administrators can be reversed by the other admins, except for history merges which must thus be treated with particular care. Have a look at the list of Gadgets (on the bottom there are the ones specifically for admins – however, for example the UserMessages are very helpful too).
Please feel free to join us on IRC: #wikimedia-commons webchat on irc.libera.chat. There is also a channel for Commons admins, which may be useful for more sensitive topics, or coordination among administrators: #wikimedia-commons-admin webchat.
You may find Commons:Guide to adminship to be useful reading. You can find the admin backlog overview at COM:AB.
Please also check or add your entry to the List of administrators and the related lists by language and date it references.

Overcategorization
[edit]Thanks for letting me know, I hadn't realized Category:Richard Mastracchio was already a sub-cat of others itself. --Jatkins (talk) 21:02, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
- No problem, only wanted to explain my revert. --myself488 talk 12:24, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
Hallo Myself488. Bitte beteilige dich doch an der Diskussion. --Leyo 13:46, 28 April 2010 (UTC)
Removing image author's name
[edit]Hi, I am the author whose name I am removing. I don't want to be forever associated to those images I uploaded when I was 17 when people Google my name. I don't have access to account StarbucksFreak anymore but it is indeed me. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 138.37.244.122 (talk • contribs) 19:39, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
- Hi! I understand your reasons, and as long as you leave your username in the description, there shouldn't be a problem. --myself488 talk 21:39, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
Hi,
Ich denke, dass wir ihn nicht mehr warnen müssen (was nur hieße, dass wir ihn mehr füttern würden), in diesem Fall sollte das Vorgehen nach WP:RBI ohne jede Warnung die beste Methode sein. ;) abf «Cabale!» 12:32, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
- Hey, your right. This will be the better way. --myself488 talk 12:37, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

Politisch motiviert... abf «Cabale!» 16:46, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

Checklist timeframes
[edit]Hey there Myself488, do you mind keeping the timeframe of the current day in tact so it's easier to see what's been done and who could/should be contacted if there's something forgotten/left behind/wrongly patrolled. Thanks, –Krinkletalk 13:59, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, no problem. Btw: Have you seen User talk:Krinkle/Tools#.5BSUGGESTION.5D:_Link_to_personal_patrol_log? --myself488 talk 18:43, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

[edit]Hi there. I was talking to a contact of mine, hopefully a future Wikipedian, about proper attribution of NASA images. So he suggested this edit, and other expedition captions need to be fixed accordingly. Do I have a go for this? Thanks. --Elitre (talk) 13:49, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
- Hey Elitre. Your right, we made a mistake with the attribution. Would be nice if you could also change the others. Regards --myself488 talk 09:44, 12 March 2011 (UTC)
- Ok, I'll do that ASAP. --Elitre (talk) 12:41, 12 March 2011 (UTC)
De-adminship warning
[edit]Dear Myself488. I am writing to you to inform you that you are in danger of losing your adminship on Commons because of your inactivity in the past six months.
If you want to keep your adminship, you need both to sign at the current inactivity run page within 30 days of today's date, and also to make at least five further admin actions in the following six months. Anyone who does not do so will automatically lose administrator rights.
You can read the de-admin policy at Commons:Administrators/De-adminship.
Thank you, OdderBot (talk) 11:01, 17 August 2012 (UTC)
De-adminship
[edit]Hello myself488! It is with a regret that I inform you that, following our de-adminship policy, you had your administrator rights on Wikimedia Commons removed today by a Wikimedia steward.
I would like to use this opportunity to thank you for your efforts and contributions in making Wikimedia Commons what it is today (no big words intended!). If you'll feel like doing so at some point, please feel free to re-apply for adminship at COM:RFA. Again, thanks for all the help you gave us, and (hopefully) see you back soon! odder (talk) 14:16, 18 September 2012 (UTC)
